Tell me about Missouri!!
Ha ha. Sorry guys, I just couldn't help it. I knew that this would never in a million years appear as a heading! http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/biggrin.gif
Seriously though, there's a lot of good in the Midwest. Maybe some of us from the less noticed but still super special states should tell a little about our respective areas! But then again, if you don't live in CA, FL, NY, or TX no one seems to care much! (And please don't anyone be offended. I'm from MO, and I'm really just teasing about all of this!) |
M I crooked letter crooked letter
O U R I no one can do it better |
Missouri is OK. I've lived here for almost 6 years, and I kind of like it. St. Louis is big enough that there's plenty to do, yet small enough that you don't feel like you're totally lost.
|
I visited MO last year and went to Osage Beach/Lake of the Ozarks! I am COMPLETELY in LOVE with that area and cannot wait to summer there when I get $$$ for a house!!! I was blown away by its beauty and serenity! http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/biggrin.gif

Hey, imagine West Virginia! I'd die if I ever saw that heading! What am I supposed to say? West Virginia--no jobs, poor state, coal dust . . .but we've got beautiful mountains!

GO IOWA!
Iowa is awesome ... we have a lot of corn fields and barns ... and tornadoes! and snow! and floods! (although I'm not from Iowa .. just 4 years experience in this Cyclone States) West Virginia .. seems really nice state. Never been there, but been in New England States ... WV reminds me of New Hampshire! |

I hate to say this, but ST.Louis looks like a good place for a hangover. Don't take that the wrong way. I mean it nicely. Its big enough to find tomato juice and advil with relative ease, and small enough to find three hours of complete silence. It reminds me a lot of Richmond.

I like STL enough, and KC. I was just there about 3 weeks ago. I realized how fast-paced my lifestyle is being here in the Northeast, and it was nice just to go somewhere and chill...

That area is beautiful, especially in the fall. |

(Being from Des Moines, half my boys are at iowa, half at iowa state . . . good times, even though I'm gone I still bleed black and gold) Anyway - Missour-ah (required pronunciation) isn't too bad at all - used to play hockey down there all the time . . . although the old Iowa joke goes "If you take the bottom two tiers of counties from Iowa and cede them to Missouri, you raise the average IQ of both states . . ." ; ) j/k, of course, Minnesota says the same thing about us - maybe it goes south? Go Cyclones http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/wink.gif
KSigRC, nice to hear the blending you have for your sons ... What house is your son (Iowa State)? I might know him ... |
Ok I know this is an old thread and all but still.....I felt the need to reply..... :D
I absolutely love Missouri!! We have trees here, it's so cool, because at home, we have none!!! I am from Nebraska, I have lived there for the last 18 years, up until I came to MO for college. I love both states a lot, but in Nebraska it is kind of boring. No trees, but I have corn right by me, and I live in Omaha, in a very well developed part, NOT on a farm hehe, but oh well!!! The way I see it though, you can't go wrong with either place!!! They are both pretty laid back and easy going....I live in Columbia, MO though, so I can't really comment on STL and KC. I do love how people here call it Missourah, (including my sociology prof), that just kills me, it's too cute! :p |

What I like about St. Louis ... and Missourri
The Cards, running in Forest Park, Central West End - a cute strip of shops and bars and big, historic houses, Clayton and Ladue, Union Station, Sundeckers, canoeing on the rivers, the loft district, the Chocolate Bar, Harrys and JBucks, the Hill, McGurks and Soulard, Mardi Gras celebration ... I could go on ...
St. Louis is no Chicago or LA, but it is a great blend of city life tucked into the heart of the Midwest. Its downfall ... there's no beach. |

Herman
One of my sisters is from Herman, MO.....that's random that y'all know about it! I didn't think people actually "lived" there lol or have heard of it. :D
|
Missouri is alright I guess... Out of all the places I've lived... It's not the worst... but I really would like to move back to TX.
|
go square states!
I'd just like to cheer on all my girls rooting for the Midwest!
I grew up in KC and always have a good time going back. I've lived on both coasts but will always have a soft spot in my heart for home, the Chiefs, and the Jayhawks. Go KU!! I always got so angry when people refer to the Midwest as "fly over country." So disrespectful and ignorant. |
