I'm simply amazed one would find this site before one could find Google.

Wow.. Greekchat really has arrived.

John should sell to Google like Youtube did. He'd make a fortune.

You can find this information online.

The short version: there are several different "conferences" of fraternities and sororities (organized like a football conference, for lack of a better example). Some play only with others, but the same general rules apply to the game.

However, on the same college campus, there may be several organizations representing various Greek conferences (these conferences all have web sites that you can look up on your own):
  • North-American Interfraternity Conference (NIC) — association of 68 men's social fraternities; local organizations found on a single campus are usually known as "Interfraternity Councils."
  • National Panhellenic Conference (NPC) — association of 26 international social women's fraternities and sororities; local organizations found on a single campus are usually known as "Panhellenic Councils."
  • National Pan-Hellenic Council (NPHC) — association of 9 historically African-American fraternities and sororities; local organizations found on a single campus are usually known as "Pan-Hellenic Councils."
  • National Association of Latino Fraternal Organizations (NALFO) — association of 23 Latino fraternities and sororities.
  • National Multicultural Greek Council (NMGC) — association of 13 national and local multicultural Greek fraternities and sororities; local organizations found on a single campus are usually known as "Multicultural Councils" or "Unified Greek Councils."
  • Concilio Interfraternitario Puertorriqueño de la Florida (CIPFI) — umbrella council for the Florida chapters of 5 Puerto Rican Greek Letter Fraternities
  • Association of College Honor Societies — association of 65 honor societies.
  • Association of Fraternity Advisors — organization intended to support and assist advisors of fraternities and sororities.
  • College Fraternity Editors Association — organization for professional fraternity and sorority communicators.
  • Fraternity Executives Association — organization for professional fraternity and sorority members.
If you read up on these organizations and conferences, you should get the information you need for your research project. You should also call each conference's headquarters to verify that the statistics on the web site are correct.

You should not solicit answers to questions for a research project on an internet message board. You have no way to verify your sources.

Good luck with your research.

I'm pretty curious about what grade the OP is in.

Good luck on your project I guess!

There is TMI going on here no matter how helpful we all want to be...

It is barely August and no one is thinking about school and classes yet...

The least of folks worries should be pledging anything. Unless we are talking early recruitment. And if we are, then let us know what University or College are you talking about? ;)

LOL. You rock.

LPIDelta 07-23-2007 05:36 PM

Maybe if the questions you were asking were formatted in regular English and you gave us some context for why you were asking the questions you were we would have been able to answer them.

Good luck with that paper--I am sure it will display well thoughtout information and critical thinking, and that you'll get high marks in spelling and grammar.

ETA: Since when is Greekchat.com, a public message board, the authority in research?? If young people learn one thing--this is not a place where good, solid research should be done.

I wonder if Greekchat.com is acceptable when listed as a reference on your paper...

LPIDelta 07-23-2007 05:46 PM

well I am sure in some circumstances it would be, just as with any site, but in terms of the information being "scholarly" you're still going to need to verify it with other, perhaps more reputable, sources.

Not that Greekchat.com isn't great or anything--lots of good info--just not necessarily scholarly or completely accurate...just like many other things on the web (Wikipedia?)

Now, now OTW, let's try to improve our image to those who lack fine and unique, and OHHHHHH so sweet to those who think they can be GREEK!!!! ;)

Colman--

To be early is to be on time...
To be on time is to be late...
And to be late is out of the question!!!

(Variants there of...)

All you left us with is an excuse as to why you are "sorry" and incapable of performing collegiate level of work. Do we OWE you any favors? We do not take kindly to strangers that post utterances and grunts. Give us one reason how come we need to help you with your assignment that is now late?

Google is only ONE avenue you can choose to seek. However "Greekchat" is NOT a place where one can do one's homework. It is just a message board. No more, no less.

Continue posting and you will be belittled and haranged for every word you fathom...

Excuses are the tools of the incompentent...
The build mountains to nowhere,
Those that delve in them,
Seldomly amount to anything...

You have YET to give ANY excuse... Mistakes are permenent first impressions here... And apologizing for gross neglect of the TOS... You are lucky you have not been banned from the site---yet...

Besides, your questions are inappropriately phrased so most of us choose not to decipher your baby talk and gibberish and really want to help you but you give us no choice but to admonish and punish you for your insolence.

If you had stepped up to us correctly using with noun-verb agreement and avoided misspellings, maybe we would have assisted you given a 72 hour deadline (maybe). However, since you decided that you want to SKATE, we will continally see your ice dancing skills before us and rightfully judge your character...
