What kind of hobbies do you have? Please list.

I have a somewhat unusual hobby. I enjoy assembling Victorian scaled doll houses. I've been doing it since I was 12. I have two of my own I assembled, and I also assemble them for other people. I made decent money doing it, but now I just don't have the time like I used to.:( Decorating the inside is always the best part.

Other than that I guess reading would be a secondary hobby for me.

Anyone have any hobbies you wanna share?

AlethiaSi 07-23-2007 10:22 AM

Well, I collect original Nancy Drew's (8 more and I have the whole collection, but I haven't really pursued this in awhile)

I used to scrapbook/craft etc but... I haven't done that since I left school....

I used to dance (ballet, jazz/hip-hop) but.... i don't do that anymore....
I guess I read, but I don't do a lot of that anymore.... I used to really be into music....
Having two pretty much full time jobs (one that i hate) has completely taken everything that I like to do

ok... i feel really pathetic now.... *slinks away into the corner...*

i, too, have almost all of the original Nancy Drews in hardback, along with close to 90% of Sweet Valley High. theyre hard to find.

-i read, a lot. to the point where my fiance took it up just so that he wouldnt be left out lol!
-i write short stories, and have been lusting after seeing my name on the front cover of a book at Barnes and Noble since i was 6 or 7.
-i recently took up yoga, after years of dubbing it "hippie-cize", i feel so bad now, because it is doing wonders for my achin back
-i tried baking for a while, i still like to do it on occasion.

wow. my life sucks! im one afghan and a Golden Girls marathon away from becoming Cat Lady!!:o

tld221 07-23-2007 11:12 AM

you watch your mouth about afghans!

i dont have any hobbies. any good hobbies are expensive. i was into photography until it ate all my money. i was into artsy fartsy stuff and that ate my money too. i'm not saying hobbies should be free, but seriously, stuff like fixing up dollhouses and yoga costs $$$.

i write, occasionally. but if any of you are writers, you know it can be a pain and get frustrating!

KSUViolet06 07-23-2007 11:24 AM

I don't have any hobbies, except shopping (not sure if that counts). Grad school is going to be my hobby in a few weeks. :(

Yeah, I know very few young people who have classic hobbies. People in their early to mid twenties hobbies are drinking, fucking, and gossiping. People in their mid to late twenties hobbies are their husbands/wives/SO, kids, work, and if you don't have any of those talking about getting them. I'm painting both groups with a broad brush. I do know a few people into poker, sports, writing/reading, dancing (as in Salsa or something, not booty shaking at the club), but they are kind of in the minority.

my sincerest apologies:D...i have several and love them all, including the one made for me when i was a baby that i still have...

damn right hobbies should be free! the yoga i do is in a book and on several ebay'd dvds i bought. i can't afford those damn 45 dollar sessions!

one hobby i would do if i had an endless bank account would be gardening...i would love to do the really heavy duty stuff, like roses and things.

case in point - all of those are free/inexpensive. and i'm OK with that. :D

(well, i'm only doing 2/3 of those... 2 out of 3 aint bad right?)

I wouldn't say drinking is an inexpensive hobby. I paid $4.00 each for a smirnoff ice last weekend, and this was at a freaking DIVE bar.

No, 2 out of 3 isn't bad. I'm only doing 2 of 3 also, unless the second one includes...nevermind.

Grad school and work obviously takes up time, but I rarely talk about those.

sageofages 07-23-2007 12:01 PM

Am I the stereotype???

Ok...I wish I had more time...but my hobbies include...pretty much any handy craft

Counted Cross Stitch
Crocheting
Knitting
Sewing
Stained Glass
Beaded Jewelry
Cake Decorating
Silk Florals
Collecting Phi Mu associated items (lions, quatrefoils, pins, etc)

and collecting all the stuff you need to do the above ;)...she who dies with the most *hobby* crap wins!

uuh, we also like to bitch and moan about things, like bills!

honeychile 07-23-2007 12:08 PM

I have a lot of crafty type hobbies that I do when possible, but my main hobby is genealogy and other historical pursuits. I actually have a paying client right now! :)

I think I had more hobbies before I started having kids but at the moment:
Reading (although most of the time it is books that rhyme or only are 15 pages long)
Counted cross-stitch
baking (the 5 year old is usually my assistant for this one)
sleeping (preferably in my hammock)

PrettyBoy 07-23-2007 11:18 PM

Collecting hand built Franklin Mint and Danbury Mint Diecast cars. I have over 200 of them. Collecting race car memorabilia, mainly F1, Imsa, and NASCAR.

Drawing and reading about cars, history, NASCAR, Military aircraft, and astronomy.

Oh, and I love the driving simulators on my 360.:D

I have been dying to get the Phi Sigma Pi afghan, but by the time I think about it every month, I've already spent the $50.

My hobbies include
-Collecting Pigs (been doing it since I was 2 and my collection is HUGE! My first tattoo is a flying pig on my ankle) My roommate is tired of seeing pigs everywhere, but she knew what she was getting into when we moved in together. :p
-I also collect Rosie the Riveter paraphenalia (sp?). I've got 3 posters, a wall tin, a bobble head doll, lunch pale, kerry/edwards pin, 2 shirts, oh, and the action figure. What can I say? STRONG WOMEN ROCK!
-I also scrapbook. I have 4 scrapbooks. One is completed, another one will always be under construction, one is for SAI and the last one is for Phi Sig.

yeah, you'd think I have money falling out of my ears....wouldn't you.

KatieKate1244 07-24-2007 10:21 AM

I used to sew all the time in high school, but have only done it occasionally since going to college. I'm currently working on a quilt, but for some reason I decided to make it much more complicated than it really should have been. I would like to pick up wood working. I love to build things, and mixing that with my other love of painting everything I can get my hands on, I'd be in heaven. And I already have most of the equipment (well, my dad does), I don't know what's keeping me from learning.

epchick 07-24-2007 01:43 PM

I've been dancing Ballet Folklorico for 11 years....that's probably my major hobby.

Stef the Pef 07-25-2007 03:53 PM

I collect Puffalumps. I used to play around with a website, but I haven't updated that since sophomore year.

I'm also trying to take up golf.

I'm dooooooooooooooomed!

Well, not really. I tend to do about 10% golfing, 30% letting other people play through, and 60% talking with whoever's with me.

justabeachbrat 07-28-2007 07:10 PM

Hobbies, for me, it depends where I live.

When at the coast, it is surfing, sandcastle building, I was in a club that competed at festivals.

Now that I am inland, when I can, I like to go white water rafting, and just recently, tried rock climbing with friends who have done it for years. My knees are still banged iup.

I tried golf a few times. My mom is a golfer, I joined her and her golf partners. I think they were relieved that I didn't go with them last time.

CrimsonLadybug 07-28-2007 07:17 PM

To be totally technical, my biggest hobby is music - listening to music, going to concerts and seeking out new music.

I write but since I am trying to make a career of it, it really doesn't qualify as a hobby anymore.

I draw and have recently created a page on Deviant Art.com (see URL down there \l/ in my signature) to showcase some of my work.

AGDee 07-28-2007 08:34 PM

Hobbies.. I truly hope that someday I have more time for them. These days, I pretty much just read because I can't afford anything else and it's the one thing I can make time for. What I used to like to do but don't have time or money for now: Woodworking, cake decorating, cross stitch and counted cross stitch, ceramics, and crocheting. I also really enjoy doing DIY projects around the house. I like playing around with graphics programs on the computer too.

- I too love to make beaded jewelry! I actually used to sell it, but it became more of an expensive hobby. Then it became a nice tax shelter :p. Now I do it for gifts. I also made 14 jewelry sets (earrings and necklaces, made of Swarovski crystals and sterling silver) for my friend and her bridal party.

- I also love cats -I have two fur babies.

- I just returned to working out, which quickly has become an obsession again

- I love to write. I used to be a reporter, a copywriter, and now do it for fun.

- Volunteering (mostly for the CF Foundation) but also with Gamma Sig

- I am currently taking acting classes. I majored in theatre my first 2 years of school before I transferred, and I realized how much I missed it.

First thought:
Ev'ry day for a week we would try to
Feel the motion, feel the motion
Down the hill.

Ev'ry day for a week we would try to
Hear the wind rush, hear the wind rush,
Feel the chill.

Painting

Travel (I try to travel 2 months out of the year or more.):D

My hobby is music as well. I love good up and coming music. Dallas has no shortage of that. I am in love with the local band inner frequency. I go to their shows every chance I get and then afterwards I write a mini review of the show and post it on myspace.

I also like to read. If i had a job that paid me to sit on my butt and read all day, I'd be a happy girl.

i have a plethora of interests outside of school, but in terms of hobbies i absolutely LOVE baking. other than that i really love finding the time for quilting and scrapbooking. and i wish i had more time to play my bassoon.

OMG you just totally made my day. I begged and begged my dad to take me to see A Chorus line in HS. He got tix and I ended up having an audition the same day. I chose the audition and got the job!

I still watch the movie a few times a year, though!
