Harry Potter & the Deathly Hallows *SPOILERS - Dont read if you dont want spoiled!*
Here is the spoiler...!!
The first chapter is about Voldemort !! There are 36 chapters in all!!! But what do u really wanna know??? WHO DIES? -------------------------->>>>> can't find it huh? I will tell you this!!! The LAST Sentence of the book is.......................... uh.........u still waiting? are ready for it? are you sure? ok..... here it is.... the last SENTENCE OF THIS BOOK IS................................................ .................................................. .............................................. an odd numbered sentence. ( no joke ) ENJOY!!!! |
We have two copies and two posters and could've gotten two of the boxes that came shipped in but didn't want to stand in yet another line. We spent the evening at Borders where the kids were in a Potter spelling bee, we had birthday cake for Harry, watched a costume contest, and got sorted into houses by a sorting hat (Girlie is a Gryffindor and the Boy is a Ravenclaw)... A good time was had by all and they both read the last sentence first, so I do know what the last sentence is!

I don't know how late they stayed up reading but they are still sound asleep. I took that opportunity to read the last chapter and then the first two chapters.
|
I walked past the bookstore in Grand Central - and no joke there was this grown azz man wearing the Potter glasses and a green cape. i thought it was a sweater or jacket and shrugged it off.
but then on the way home, i passed the bookstore AGAIN and there he was with some friends with the CAPE ON and hunched over reading one of the books. I guess its a good i dea to go to a bookstore that no one really goes to vs. a Barnes and Noble... but it still struck me as odd. |
I just finished the book, and no I have not been to bed yet. WOW! JK Rowling certainly outdid herself. I really cannot imagine too many people who are going to be upset with this ending. I will admit I checked the last page to see if the last word was truly scar.
I laughed and sobbed while reading it. I am going to get some sleep and then read it again so I can take in the whole book! |
Just finished the book after having slept two hours.
ZTAbullwinkle is right, Rowling outdid herself. I've never had my heart pounding so much! |
umm am i gonna haveta go get book 1 and get on teh bandwagon? this is nutz.
|
yes...cuz there is no way in hell u can read the last book and not know how it all came about
|
Seriously, tell me how it ends. I can't get into Harry Potter and I own the first five books. So somebody just tell me how it all turns out. We already have the spoiler warning in the title, so feel free.

I am sorry that I can't be the one to spoil the ending for you. I am quite pleased with how JK Rowling ended it, but I have made a promise to myself that I would give others about 48 hours to read it before I started discussing it in depth. I don't want to inadvertently tell someone who hasn't finished the book yet something (like how I was told of the big death in The Half-Blood Prince. It has been a while since I have looked so forward to reading a book. I can only hope that another author publishes books that drive so many people to read. |
i really enjoyed reading it too, i was laughing and crying and i think JK really did a great job.
and i was excited because i was right with a lot of what i thought was going to happen too! |
Just now finished it...I only got to finish it in peace because I bought extra copies for the teenagers.:D Very, very good book, great ending!
|
I just finished it. It was absolutely perfect.
I'd post spoilers, but I'm going to go back and read it again. |

I finished it at 6am and really want to re-read it; unfortunately, my husband has it now and he can't read nearly as fast as I do!

Amazing....truly amazing. I loved it. I read it in about 8 hours. :)
WARNING!!!! SPOILERS BELOW!!!!!! I always KNEW Snape was a good guy. And it was so good of him to let Harry in his memories at the end. |
I was a bit disappointed in book 7. It wasn't bad,I just found it a bit predictable. I wish she would have taken a few more risks with it, maybe thrown in a couple of real twists and turns.

Finally finished. It came via the post office which is BS because my shipping tracking said UPS. I got all upset when I saw the UPS truck go zooming by my house.
Amazon made great packaging for them though. And oh my god, I have to say the funniest part was Neville announcing that they were going to throw mandrakes at the deatheaters over the walls. And if you get mad at me for writing that, you shouldn't be reading this thread in the first place! It was really great though, she did wrap things up nicely and it was great to see some theories that have been floating around finally come to fruition. |

Mine came via UPS -> USPS too. |

I just finished the book at 12:30...It arrived today (Saturday) at 2:00 pm via UPS and aside from a dinner break, a 1/2 hour trip to Publix and a few smoke/bathroom breaks, I've been reading the whole night.
I laughed, I cried, I cheered for Mrs. Weasley (if you've read it you know the part I mean) and I totally enjoyed it. I will miss the excitement of a new Harry book, but this will be a series I can enjoy with my children as they grow up... Long Live Harry Potter!!! |

I get so into the books... I just got home from work and I'm going to re-read it. |
FRED! :( I'm still sad about Fred.
Kreacher is made of WIN! :) Scorpius is the coolest name ever. LOL! |
Got the book today!
I have to re-read a few books to get back into the swing of things before I can allow myself to read the final one. I peaked at my book though, looked at the artwork, read a few sentances etc. And I'm obviously seeking out just a few spoilers to get a taste of what's to come!!! |
I liked the book...
It was iffy in the middle part..... The first 150 pages were a bit rough for me, personally.....I had to put the book down, it was just TMI for me....I did that throughout the day, put it down and pick it up.... Very intense.... There was only 1 part that I cried about.....1 part I openly gasped because it was a helluva surprise..... But other than that, a good read.... I am still looking at my "SNAPE is a very bad man" sticker....I wonder what I should do with it.....he is still a very bad man.....but very Brave You go, Molly Girl! |
I LOVED IT!!!!
What a great book with a great ending. I just finished now, and i didn't want to come to this thread until I did. I'm glad the spoilers I read were all fake!!! But this book had me in tears. I;m sad that the adventures are over, but it ended just the way I wanted it to. I love Neville. |
Hedwig! :(
I cried for poor Dobby like crazy. I didn't even care for his character but his death and consequent burial at Bill & Fleur's home just had be bawling. I actually had to leave the book and blow my nose, wash my face, and cry a bit more before I could pick it up again. I had the same reaction when I read that Fred died. :( My heart broke for George and Molly. I thought Snape had a lame death but his memories of him & Lily were so awesome. I loved them. |
Did I miss it or did she ever tell what happened to the Dursleys after they left their home? And did we ever find out anything about Harry's really green eyes other than they were like his mother's?
Yay! for Molly. Maternal love prevails. I'm gonna name my next kid after her. |
Carnation, you are too funny! But no, we have no answers to either. All that speculation about the eyes being a magical connection was wrong :P (though granted, y'all weren't too off about eyes having some power...(Ministry of Magic...))
I just finished (I would have last night but I MADE myself stop to draw it out and savor). I am happy. The ending was cheesy, too cinematic, the plot so-so, but I am pleased. My heart was pounding, my breath was shallow, I laughed (her tragedy doesn't get to me as much somehow), and overall, I am well pleased with this ending. I think the best part about this book though, is that it affirms the power of love :) Snape in the Pensieve :O Those who died :( Molly Weasley kicks some serious booty :D So does Professor McG :D :D :D |
And what about Professor Trelawney hurling all those crystal balls? I thought that was hilarious - she finally found a good use for them!
|
SPOILER:
Aw, I cried so much when a particular redhead died. :( And a certain animal. OK, I have a question about a sentence. On page 734, it says "... and Harry saw Charlie Weasley overtaking Horace Slughorn, who was still wearing his emerald pajamas. They seemed to have returned at the head of what looked like the families and friends of ever Hogwarts student....along with [people] from Hogsmeade." Does that mean that Slughorn is with the deatheaters? If so, then I totally missed something because I thought he was good. |

Snape had a very deep love for lily...thus he played the part of bad guy convincingly. Harry was as I suspected a horcrux Dumbelore pulls a Matrix / Obi Wan (think Matrix 3 trainstation) The name Voldemort really becomes unusable We finally learn about the wands and what they mean Crabbe dies....heheheh The centaurs attack.....finally Lupin and tonks get separated from thier kids I must say that I really enjoyed this book and as someone mentioned early on ...the first couple hundred pages get really dragged out but once they start putting together clues to the items bequeathed to them and the horcruxes...you get dragged in.....lemme take a peep over at wikipedia and see if some idiot has alreayd spoiled the whole thing....yup....they did |
So, I haven't re-read the entire book yet, but I did scan the Epilogue because I'm wondering what Harry (and the others) ends up doing, work wise... remember when he wanted to be an auror (which they probably don't have as much use for) but what about the ministry? Idk, I just want to know what he does.

Spoilers/Questions
Ugh! Friday evening worked the Harry Potter book release party at Barnes and Noble (I went as Professor McGonagall), got home at 3 am and started reading. Promptly fell asleep after 2 chapters. Read most of Saturday and finished around 4am. I seriously need to catch up on sleep
I loved the book, but was astounded how many people died. I was really sad about Hedwig :(, I think I figured out which person got the reprieve and which two were the unexpected deaths (Hagrid, Tonks/Lupin). I was curious though about the following-- Who became the new headmaster at Hogwarts? Who was the person that was able to do magic late in life? What happened to Luna? What about the veil that Sirius fell through? Did Hermione ever bring her parents back from Australia? Who are Rose and Hugo named for? Why wasn't anyone named for Sirius? What happened to George? Does he still continue the joke shop? Did the Dursleys return home? |

Who became the new headmaster at Hogwarts?
I'm thinking Professor McGonagoll, but I'd like to think at some point later in life Harry becomes Headmaster (or at least teaches Defense against the Dark Arts) Who was the person that was able to do magic late in life? Bit of a puzzle here - perhaps Hagrid was finally "permitted" to perform magic? What happened to Luna? It seemed like there was a tiny hint of some interest with Dean. I think she either continued the Quibbler or taught Care of Magical Creatures at Hogwarts. What about the veil that Sirius fell through? What about it? Did Hermione ever bring her parents back from Australia? Once the danger from the Death Eaters passed, I imagine she at least restored their memory, but they may have decided to stay in Australia. Who are Rose and Hugo named for? I've been puzzling over this myself. They may just be new names Why wasn't anyone named for Sirius? Although it doesn't say so, I like to think that Sirius is the middle name for Harry's son James. What happened to George? Does he still continue the joke shop? I can't imagine George not doing jokes, but I think one of his brothers joins him. Perhaps Ron - that would drive Hermione nuts! Did the Dursleys return home? What would Privet Drive be without the Dursleys? |
