Hugs from acquaintances

Does anyone else feel this way?

I hate when someone I hardly know randomly gives me a hug. I'm a very private person, and I guess I just dont like people I don't know very well in my personal space. I'm a massage therapist at a chiropractors office, and every so often a patient feels the need to hug me after their treatment. Yesterday, my hairdresser hugged me before I left.

I was wondering how other people felt on the subject.

I am the same way. I only like people that I know really well to hug me. I even have a problem with "friends" (by that I mean one level above "acquaintance") hugging me. I prefer family and close friends. I am also a really private person. I won't push people away who try to hug me. I just try and downgrade it to a side hug. :)

Being 6’7 and out weighing most women by over a 100 lbs I never initiate hugging because I know my size alone can make many people feel very uncomfortable. That being said I’m not big on being touched. Whenever an acquaintance wants to hug me I usually do the side hug...when you hug someone with one arm and your both facing in the same direction.

I don't have any big problem with hugging, but am I alone in the feeling that more people are hugging people they just barely know these days?

I am often hugging my clients (many I have just met for the first time). It is tough to lose a pet and sometimes a hug can go a long way. I don't mind at all, I know how they feel.

Most of the time I'm not a hugger. I think certain personality types make me comfortable with it though.

It depends. I'm not overly friendly or warm, so hugging someone I don't know well is not something I'm very comfortable with. The only "strangers" I hug are Sorors I just met.

I am a hugger, but I am aware that some people are uncomfortable with that so I try to feel out the situation. I definitely reserve side hugs for members of the opposite sex since I am married and try not to initiate any unwarranted attention (not to mention I do not want to do anything that could be perceived as immodest).

It all depends if the person initiates. I'm more incline to hug women than men because I feel uncomfortable hugging men I don't know too well.

I have a friend who likes to hook up with girls by saying "Can I get a hug" and then slipping them a little tongue. I personally like to say "Can I get a hug" and slip them my wang.

hugging used to be really awkward, as well as overall physical contact - it would bug me out when my mom would hug me!

im a little better about it, and only because i am in situations where people are way more touchy-feeley than the norm (and more than they need to be) - as being an RA, and then meeting new sorors - i have to worry about coming off as anti-social and distant.

and im not trying to get hemmed up!

I enjoy hugging tall attractive folks, it gives me an excuse to have one arm wrapped around their back and one wrapped around their ass.

BWHAHAHAHAHA that's awesome. so much for not invading personal space.

I don't initiate many, if any, hugs except for maybe with my lady.

I'll hug almost anyone...as long as she's cute.

Initially, the only strangers I hugged were sorors also. But with all that hugging I learned being in a sorority, it has rubbed off on me in regular life. I'm a lot more open to showing affection now than I was before. I can still be a tad bit cold though, lol.

LOL!

I didn't used to be a hugger. Then I moved to NYC and was forced into becoming a "greeting kisser" - everyone does the half hug with a kiss on the cheek. Ugh! I hated it. I've gotten used to it now, though, and it's made hugging not only seem like no big deal, but a preferred greeting!

Oh, I am a hugger, not only My Brothers, but their Wives, and Kids!

We are very close as they are our extended Family of the Zeta.:)

Oh, one of My Brothers Passed # 4, and His Wife came to Pierce Stock, and is always welcome to any function!

Did She have a good time!

Hell Yes, She knew so many of us!:D

Oh, remember, I started the whole thing and they are like My Kids! All 638 of them!
