Gamma Phi Recruitment - 2007!

:)Hey actives - I'd love to know 1.) what are you doing for recruitment this year (skits, themes, new stuff you are excited about!) and 2.) How is it going?
Best of luck to all my sisters - please know that alumnae are hoping and praying you are able to CONNECT.IMPACT.SHINE. and get some great new Gamma Phis!
Love in IIKE!

SWTXBelle 08-11-2007 06:56 PM

I'm bumping my own thread, because I will be out of the country for the most exciting time for recruitment, darn it. Please someone post results here, so I can catch up when I get home.
Go Gamma Phi!

GPhiB_007 08-12-2007 07:59 PM

Recruitment camp for Eta Chapter at UC Berkeley starts in a week and recruitment is the week after so I'll be sure to keep you posted. I'm co-skit chair and we are doing a medley of song/dance pieces (with lyrics redone to fit Gamma Phi Beta). We're doing a sort of "Gamma Phi Through the Decades" skit with music from the 50's-90's. It should be cute =)
I'm also in charge of redoing our front yard and planting flowers- I'm hoping to get impatiens, primroses and coral bells to line our front yard with.

I'll let you know more as soon as I find out!

According to the Auburn University Recruitment result list, the Auburn chapter took 62 new members, which I think was the largest pledge class. Way to go Gamma Phi!!!

PeppyGPhiB 08-15-2007 04:49 PM

Anyone know the results at Oklahoma?

icelandelf 08-15-2007 05:21 PM

I counted 44 in the photograph. Is that this year's new pledge class?

Gamma Phi Recruitment - 2007!

OU Gamma Phi met quota of 69 plus 6 quota additions for a total of 75. I am happy to say that my daughter is a brand new member and it was her favorite house from the start!

Gamma Phi Recruitment - 2007!

Actually, I was never in a sorority in college (it was the early 70s, man), but I found this forum when my daughter decided to go through rush at OU. It was very helpful. She went into rush with a completely open mind and no bias towards any sorority and was not even sure if being Greek was going to be right for her. She called me during her lunch break on open house day because she was so excited about the Gamma Phi house and that it was her favorite so far, but she would have to see how the rest of the houses were. Although she had some minor disappointments in the early cuts from houses she thought she would like to know better, she maintained a positive focus on the houses inviting her back and had a great time making new friends. She never seemed stressed and on pref day received invitations from her top two houses and liked them both so much that she said she would accept a bid from either. Having met the young ladies at Gamma Phi on Bid Day, I think she made a great choice and really found a house where she fits.

GeekyPenguin 08-19-2007 08:57 PM

oumom, I'm still glad to hear you're so happy for your daughter. I bet it's nice knowing she has a built in group of friends at school now. :)

I just heard from kk_bama and she has good news, but I am going to let her post it! :)

Bama results

Quota was 73.

Gamma Phi took in 65 women, and I believe that by tonight the number is about 70-73 women!

They are an absolutely BEAUTIFUL group of new members. I am so proud of the chapter and their hard work! :D

Bama's new members!

http://i79.photobucket.com/albums/j1...embers2007.jpg

Like I said in the general Alabama rush thread, I think there are some girls cut off in this photo on the left, and there are even more girls by now! :D :D :D

ETA: Oh, and also, I'm getting conflicting reports on quota. I was told that it was 66+7 upperclassmen for a total of 73, but I'm also getting reports that it may be 73+7 upperclassmen for a total of 80. Either way, our new girls are FABULOUS. The actives are SO PUMPED.

scarleteriberry 08-20-2007 05:15 PM

Wow!

That's so exciting! Go Gamma Phi!

gphib_95 08-20-2007 09:45 PM

I am sooooo excited about Alabama's rush. I wish I could have been there to help this year.

UWGPhiBalum 08-21-2007 10:51 AM

Congratulations to Bama! Any word what their official pledge class # is now?

Also, any news at schools such as KU and ISU?

FloridaTish 08-21-2007 10:52 AM

They look like a lovely bunch of girls and I really like that they are not cookie cutter copies of one another...That's one thing that I love about Gamma Phi, is that each chapter I've seen online is so diverse...

Yes! I just wrote a little blurb about Kennesaw in the Colony Thread

Scandia 08-26-2007 07:46 PM

A former student of mine just informed me that she is now a Gamma Phi Beta pledge at FSU.

SWTXBelle 08-26-2007 07:52 PM

That's great!

MerryGPhiB 08-30-2007 07:25 PM

Eta- UC Berkeley

HI all- Just to fill you in- Quota was 27 at Berkeley and Eta Chapter Gamma Phi Beta of took 43!!!:D

SWTXBelle 08-30-2007 08:27 PM

The Buzz

The Gamma Phi Buzz just reported that of 19 chapters reporting, 17 GOT QUOTA!
Now, can some clever sister figure out who the 17 are???

UWGPhiBalum 08-30-2007 09:25 PM

I'm guessing that the 2 that didn't make quota are Alabama and Texas A&M? Those are the two that sounded like they missed quota, based upon other threads...

Update on Bama

The chapter has decided to COB, even with a pledge class of 65. They will vote on additional PNMs next week. Quota should be reached through COB. Stay tuned! ;)

SWTXBelle 08-31-2007 10:07 AM

Good for them! Hoping for loads of good things for Bama and A&M!

Good luck to Alabama! How exciting!

bamagphibgirlie 08-31-2007 04:20 PM

YEAH!!!

I love all my new members! I am so excited for this year!:D

triplefigs 08-31-2007 09:25 PM

That's awesome news that Bama will use COB. I'm really proud of them. They've come a long way in the past 19 years.

bejazd 09-01-2007 01:01 AM

up until a few months ago, when I started reading some of this stuff here, I knew nothing about Bama, had never heard of top tier, old row, Lilly sundresses or Vera bradley. I guess I always thought rush at southern schools was just more formal but wow. So different. And yet you Bama Gamma Phis stomp in spite of all that. You have so much to be proud of! Your new pledge class is amazing...which means the actives are inspiring greatness. I just have so much respect for all of you as sisters!

And Eta chapter: WOW. I could hear the screaming from here!

GPhiB_007 09-02-2007 12:41 PM

You heard us at Eta chapter? =) We're really excited for the new pledges!!

Thank you! The chapter is really flourishing and continuing to grow. I think that after two decades, a lot of the "growing pains" of being the newest chapter at Bama are behind us. I'm so excited and proud to be a member of the advisory board. :D

I remember when I went through rush in 1987, AOII and KAO were the "new" chapters and had been there for 20 years (came on campus in 1967). It was mentioned a lot during rush that they were the newest sororities, even though both had very strong reputations and houses. I matched for bid day, but not with my 1st or 2nd choice, so I dropped out. I was glad as my Sophomore year, GPhiB came to 'Bama, and my mom was a GPhiB! :) Now 20 years later, GPhiB seems to be finally making great strides and establishing themselves as a solid house. It seems the 20year mark is a bit of a "milestone" at Bama.

joliebelle 09-04-2007 05:04 PM

Formal Recruitment for my chapter, Epsilon Zeta starts tomorrow with open hall night.
We're going back with 12 sisters and 5 new members, with the majority of the sisters being new to recruitment. Im really excited because we're singing 3 new songs this year

I'll keep you all posted on all the details!
