What was your favorite chant?
I am the VPMR at Montana State University and we dont have any chants. We have songs we have been singing since the 30s and have not updated. On our bid day the other sororities have chants and all we have is songs. I am hoping there are some greeks who can help me out with some chants that they love for us to use.
|
Are you going to convention next week, by chance??
Welcome to GC and congrats on VPMR! I learned this one this fall from the girls at Arkansas State: (clapping once for each word) Alpha Alpha Alpha O! Only only way to go! Who are who are who are we? We're the best sorority! AOII AOII AOII 'Til we die! Wooooooooooooo! My chapter did: How (clap) would you like to be an A (clap) O (clap) II? (clap clap clap) How (clap) would you like to learn to do or die? (clap clap clap) How (clap) would you like to learn to love anew? (clap clap clap) How (clap) would you like to have us love you too? (clap clap clap) How would you like a little heaven on earth? Oh, honey.... How'd you like to be an AOII? |
No, at our chapter we have to pay for it and no one can afford it. The alum have allowed our president to go but she had to pay for 3/4ths of it and is going to ask around. Iam just racking my brain searching and trying to think of chants.

Did this change and I missed it? Here are the 2 that we did most of the time: #1 A-A-A with an O O-O-O with a Pi A with an O O with a Pi A-O-Pi *clap throughout (repeat 3 times) #2 A-A-A O Pi Roses Pandas til we die Sheaf of Wheat, is our pin AOII til the end. Togetherness, we love our chapter Sisterhood forever after Red,White - colors true AOII lets you be you *clap throughout AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHhhhhhh A-O-PI! |

Cute cheers! |
Hi AOIIMontana! If you haven't already, get in touch with your Recruitment Adviser and CNS for help (don't worry, this is my normal response around here!) We also have some amazing MRCs at HQ who can help with all things recruitment. :) Shameless plug for one of my chapters: on the Phi Chi song page they have the words to "A O Cutie Pi".
As for the CP's registration fee, if someone had to cancel last minute there may be an open registration. It might be hard to swing airfare but she might get lucky on a last minute fare or on Southwest. Has she talked about this with your CNS to see what can be done so she could attend Convention? Good luck! |
Hello Alpha Phi Chapter!
Hi, MSU alum here. I really hope your CP will be going to Convention. I really want to meet her! I am not in MT anymore, but am in Colorado and a chapter adviser (VPCR & Ritual) and alum chapter president. I will go through my files and dig up some chants for you (other than the ones from Alpha Phi Chapter!) and send them to you.
You guys have a great CA, Kerry; CNS, Marji and CND, Kristy. You are in great hands! I think of Alpha Phi Chapter all the time and wish you all the very best. I'll see you at Homecoming! 90 years at MSU! |
<hijack>MSUAOII, I'll be at Convention. Hope to meet you there!</hijack>
Oh, and of course, welcome to GC! |
Sorry to crash, but I was a Rho Gamma this past spring and I remember this chant:
A....L-P-H-A O-M-I-C-R-O-N P-I A-O-Pi Alpha Alpha Omicron Pi! And this one, it's kind of a song but catchy and you can definitely make it a little more chanty by clapping or do a harmony. I can't obviously give you the tune over the internet, but maybe a consultant has heard of this one: Re-mem-mem mem-mem-mem-mem-ber A-O-Pi Sisters forever Laughing, singing, doing whatever We have fun when we're together This one is to the tune of Supercalifragilisticexpialadocious. Alpha Epsilon Phi actually did this one but it would work for AOPi as well since it has the same number of beats. The hint is that the emphasis ends up on the "C": A-L-P-H-A-O-M-I-C-R-O-N Pi! You can only say it if you really really try Ask who's the best sorority and then we will reply A-L-P-H-A-O-M-I-C-R-O-N Pi! |
An AOII classic!
I'm an A-O-A-O-A-O-Cutie Pi And I'll be one till the day I, day I die, I'm so proud, so proud about it, I can't help, but help, but shout it, I'm an A-O-A-O-A-O Cutie Pi!! Our favorite inappropriate, but fun one! Oh there are no AOIIs down in hell! (Hell no!) Oh there are no AOIIs down in hell! (Hell no!) 'Cause their all up above drinkin beer and makin love, Oh there are no AOIIs down in hell! (Hell no!) Up at Northern (insert your school here, we were Northern Illinois) on Fraternity Row, There's a swingin little house called Alpha O, It's where all the girls are really tops, It's where all the Frat boys love to stop! Alpha O, Alpha O, Alpha Omicron Pi, Alpha O, Alpha O, Alpha Omicron Pi, We'll be loyal to you till the day we die! Easy one to the tune of Row, Row, Row, Your boat Fun, love, loyalty All go hand in hand, When you are an AOII, Life is simply grand! |
On this topic.... sort of. Does anyone have any preference ceremony songs that you love? We always do "The Rose" but we have one other song. Does anyone have any ideas? Recruitment is only 13 days away! EEK!

The words, as I remember them, are really: A-L-P-H-A-O-M-I-C-R-O-N-Pi, We know that you can say it if you really give a try If asked the best sorority, we always do reply, It's A-L-P-H-A-O-M-I-C-R-O-N Pi! Hey! We also used: A-A-A-AOII, Alpha Omicron PI, For me, for you, for AOII, For how I love my AOII! |
I just thought of this one that we used at rush.
Mama's little baby loves Alpha Omicron, Mama's little baby loves AOII. Mama's little baby loves Alpha Omicron, Mama's little baby loves AOII. Put on your (somthing...I can't remember), hold your head up high, Alpha's gonna make you walk with pride. That ain't all we're gonna do, Alpha's gonna make a greek out of you. It's very sing songy...a little strange though. Then there's "Flamin' Alpha" I'm a flamin' Alpha I'm a sure fire scorcher I'm the hottest baby in town. And when it comes to lovin' I'm a human oven I really go to town All the firemen say that I'm there only desire I'm the hottest thing since the Chicago Fire Cuz I'm a flamin Alpha I'm a sure fire scorcher I'm the hottest baby in town (I always thought it sounded a little slutty though!) |
It's amazing what you can remember when you are bored at work....
Here's another one. A to the O to the P-I, Pi. A to the O to the P-I, Pi. A to the O to the P-I, Pi... Aaaaaaaa, AOII. Alpha, Alpha, Alpha, Alpha, Alpha till we die. Come on sisters, come on sisters, raise your spirits high. We'll take the best and let the others have the REST! A to the O to the P-I, Pi. A to the O to the P-I, Pi. A to the O to the P-I, Pi... Aaaaaaaa, AOII! |
alpha alpha omicron pi
we're the best and it ain't no lie so come on girls and you will see that aoii is "The" sorority!!! |
Here's some that we used during recruitement:
"Oh when she's walking down the street she's got that lok that can't be beat when you ask the reason why it's cause shes an AOII AOII's the place to be it's the only one for me so come on we'll show you why we're the best we're AOII" Boom, Boom, Boom, Boom I wanna go AOII and baby that ain't no lie Boom, boom, boom, boom I wanna go AOII don't you? uh huh! I wanna go AOII and wear those rubies and pearls boom, boom, boom, boom I wanna go AOII, don't you? Yes ma'am! For we are truly sisters we ahve so such loyalty we cant be beat on friendship it's AOII for me! boom, boom, boom, boom i wanna go AOII and baby taht ain't no lie boom boom boom boom i want go AOII don't you? don't you? don't you? SURE DO! We have a few others too, but those are my favorites :) I know someone asked for preference day songs. My favorite pref song is El Shaddai :) it's so pretty. We sing about 4 songs on pref day though |
one of my favorite chants is
roses, rubies, pandas too don't you wish this could be you AOII red and white AoII you know that's right ooooo A O II woo! it's great after IM sports and things like that. |
This one I still find myself singing to my kids-
A-L-P-H-A gimmie O-M-I-C-R-O-N P-I A-O-Pi Alpha, Alpha, Omicron Pi We are AOII We are the best and that's no lie Sisterhoods and goodtimes too AOII's the one for you (Repeat) This was our door chant during rush that we used when the rushees were walking in. It was also the chant used during Rho Chi revealing (They would do a sorority chant and those Rho Chis would step forward and take off their Rho Chi sweatshirt to reveal their letters). The chant that I disliked was to the tune of "hi-ho" from Snow White. It's okay on it's own, but during rush it was a little to sing-songy compared to what the other houses were doing (and less memorable). A-O, A-O The only way to go And when you see that spirit in me You'll know that I'm an Alpha O. |

Still to the tune of Supercalifragilisticexpialadocious: A-L-P-H-A-O-M-I-C-R-O-N Pi! We know that you can spell it if you really, really try When asked the best sorority we always do reply: A-L-P-H-A-O-M-I-C-R-O-N Pi! When I was just a freshmen here at U of T I liked so many of the Greeks I didn't know what to be, but these three letters gave me chills from my head down to my toes (Screaming) THE GREATEST GREEKS YOU'LL EVER MEET AND THIS IS HOW IT GOES! A-L-P-H-A-O-M-I-C-R-O-N Pi! We know that you can spell it if you really, really try When asked the best sorority we always do reply: A-L-P-H-A-O-M-I-C-R-O-N Pi! I'll miss doing that song on bid day.... |
A CC taught us this one years ago:
Down in (insert name of town or campus) on sorority row There's the sweetest little house called Alpha O We're the ones that are really tops That's where all the freshman love to stop Alpha O (Alpha O, Alpha Omicron Pi) Alpha O (Alpha O, Alpha Omicron Pi) Alpha O (Alpha O, Alpha Omicron Pi) We'll be loyal to you till the day we die. And there's a very old but catchy chant taught to us by another CC, from either Nu Beta or Lambda Sigma, that has very southern roots--I figure the gals from our southern campuses still might know it. I cannot remember hardly any of it, just bits and pieces. It's a chant that is made up of largely nonsensical words like mega mega whole potato, half past an alligator (seriously, I could not make this up if I tried). The very last part goes: --- --- chippewa saw AOII, AOII, Rah Rah Rah! Anyone recall it? |
Quote:
|
Whole Potato....sorry it didn't post the rest! But I learned that song at a Convention or something....I think one of the chapters in KY taught it to me.
|
Quote:
ETA: I thought that the words were on Sisters Online but I don't see them anymore. |
We use that chant, too. But it was something we did at the end of chapter and all the older girls would yell it and you just had to catch on cause they didn't teach it and at the end of it we all shout roses to each other!!!
|
Naga Naga cheer
I've tried to write these words using some phonics sounds. If you said ever word properly...it just wouldn't "holler" the same!
Naga Naga Whole potat-ah Half past an alligat-ah Rim Ram Bo ga Dam Chippe wa Sah AOPi AOPi Rah Rah Rah Rip Rap Rye A O Pi Chit Chat Kitty Kat Ki Yi Yi Razzle Dazzle Hobble Gobble Sis Boom Bah AOPi AOPi Rah Rah Rah AO Pi Alpha O Number 1 |
That's the one! I used to love that; it was so original there was no way any other house would have any idea how to rip it off from us!!:D
I learned this one from a sister from Duke, which was really great for regrouping after final party of a long recruitment day: Leader: All right, all right, all right (group: all RIGHT!) L: Ok, Ok, Ok (group: OK!) L: All right (group: All right!) L: OK! (group: OK) All: ALPHA OMICRON PI, HEY! |
A-L-P-H-A! AOII's the only way!
S-U-P-E-R! Super-Duper that's what we are! A! (A!) O (O!) II! Get it! Get it! Get it! *Clap : XX XX XX (same Rhythm as "Get it")* A! (A!) O! (O!) II! and our Village Chat (one of the Fraternities use the same one, but substitute letters- it may be time for us to find a catchier one) AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA! (SCREAMED AS LOUDLY AS POSSIBLE UNTIL THE LAST GIRL IS OUT OF THE HOUSE AND IN THE MIDDLE OF THE VILLAGE WITH THE REST OF THE CHAPTER) A! A-L-P-H-A! P-I! A-O-PI! 4-3-2-1 GIVE A CHEER FOR OMICRON! A-O-PI YOU KNOW! |
I just remembered this chant when we were lining up at convention on Red and White day to take the all convention photo.
Girl in Red, girl in white AOII is dynamite! The AOIIs welcome you. Friends so true Take our cue Fun and friendship we pursue The AOIIs welcome you. And if you wander by and AOII You will agree We're the best of all the rest We're the top sorority So come along Sing our song Join our happy, carefree throng The AOIIs welcome you We really mean it! The AOIIs welcome you! It's been in my head ever since...ahhhhhh |
