NPC Baby Board Books

These are the cutest things - and no, I have NOTHING to do with the company(!). I just sent the Tri-Delt one to a former student who had a baby girl. Gotta love the prices, too - now if they'd just hurry and get my sorority's book done! www.babyalmamater.com (the Legacy collections)

lauralaylin 06-04-2007 09:05 AM

I contacted them at least six months ago about coming out with the other groups so I could put them on my baby blog. They didn't have an answer about the others and tried to push some other non-sorority related book on me. So I think there are no real plans to add other groups.

Thetagirl218 06-04-2007 01:27 PM

Those books are super cute!!!! A great little gift for a baby shower for a sister! Thanks for sharing! :)

BuckeyeTriDelta 06-04-2007 01:28 PM

Absolutely adorable! If I ever have a daughter I will be buying her one. Or if any of my other Tri Delta friends end up having a daughter they will be getting one too.

NutBrnHair 06-04-2007 02:57 PM

Current Books:
Chi Omega
Delta Delta Delta
Kappa Alpha Theta
Kappa Delta
Sigma Kappa

Coming Soon:
Alpha Chi Omega, Delta Gamma, Alpha Delta Pi, Delta Phi Epsilon, Alpha Epsilon Pi [sic], Delta Zeta, Alpha Gamma Delta, Gamma Phi Beta, Alpha Omicron Pi, Phi Mu, Alpha Phi, Sigma Sigma Sigma, Alpha Sigma Alpha, Theta Phi Alpha, Alpha Xi Delta

Aren't they forgetting some groups?

AlphaFrog 06-04-2007 02:59 PM

It's possible the company already ran the idea through the other 6's HQ and they either said "NO WAY JOSE" or wanted too much for the rights.

NutBrnHair 06-04-2007 03:05 PM

I highly doubt that. Rarely does a vendor ask for permission first. They are supposed to, but it doesn't usually happen that way.

AlphaFrog 06-04-2007 03:07 PM

Alright then, maybe they just don't LIKE the other 6.

There's no law saying that if a vendor makes products for some or most NPCs, that they need to make it for all NPCs.

Drolefille 06-04-2007 03:23 PM

My first thought was that those were the same sororities with stores at sororityspecialties.com, but the lists don't quite match.

The site is also not displaying one of those Official Greek Vendor seals so it's possible they're not approved by anyone at this point and just picked sororities based on who's in their hometown or at the schools near them (they're somewhere in Ohio)

Yep but you don't know for sure. What if that was the case? it's hardly unlikely.
I've seen the Sigma Kappa one and it's adorable. My brother better hurry up and give me a niece-though she'll be an AXiD legacy, I can try and gently encourage her in my sorority's direction :)

SWTXBelle 06-04-2007 08:38 PM

The books themselves have the Greek Licensed Product seal on the back cover.
I especially like the 2nd to last page - where it has a box to write the "Future Sister"'s name, and the last page has a place for Family and Friend members of GLO, Messages from Loved Ones, and Expected Year of Initiation. My 17 year old daughter thought that was frightening - and then I pointed out I have a picture of her at 6 months, dressed in pink with her brown and mode pledge ribbon!
I bought a copy of all of them, so if you want to know what is contained in them pm me. Oh - I need to get a replacement for my Tri-Delt since I gifted it already! Noelle (the mom) and her sister are both Tri-Deltas, so how could I not??

She'll be a SK legacy too! (Wasn't sure if you were saying ONLY a Alpha Xi legacy or not)

And good to know they're licensed!

We never get listed... :(

What if the little legacy is a legacy to several different sororities? Would that require several different baby books?

And you do realize that I'm kidding, don't you?

There's so much stuff out there for children of alums and it scares me. I'm beginning to think that the tradition of giving special consideration to legacies is out the window. Almost all the legacies we know who have gone to larger universities since about 2000 have been cut and how awful would it be if someone had kept up one of those books and her daughter knew it and then she was cut?:(

I mean, we knew 6 top girls who were cut last year by their legacy sororities and this isn't some little isolated happening.

bejazd 06-05-2007 01:55 PM

I'm with you, Carnation. seems a little...twisted.

I'd rather buy a baby onesie or t-shirt for a sister that says something like
"My mom is hot! She's Gamma Phi" or something like that for a baby shower gift...but I've never seen any baby greek gift stuff. It must be out there???

Just to get me going...he thought it was funny...and I had to laugh too...when I brought my son home from the hospital my husband had taped a picture of a little boy praying over the crib. It had a caption that read "and please God, make me a Sigma Chi..." It's in his baby book now!

Too cute!

SWTXBelle 06-05-2007 02:09 PM

Hey,Chi Omega has a maternity shirt -
"Little Hootie on Board" - that their HQ sells. And a diaper bag! The shirt would be okay if you were one of the lucky women who looks cute during pregnancy - I looked like a beached whale (gained 50 - 70 lbs. each time) so I did NOT want to be representing Gamma Phi during that time!

honeychile 06-05-2007 02:35 PM

Good gosh, we have a whole page of baby & children's items! Onsies, t-shirts, bibs, even dog collars are All In The Family!

Hey...thanks for the plug!

Actually, it's the "Baby Hootie Nesting" tee, available exclusively through Chi O Creations.

xo_kathy, do you know if you're having a boy or girl?

AlphaFrog 06-05-2007 02:41 PM

I'm planning on having shirts made for my kids that say:

ASA Legacy
FKT Legacy

And having their pics taken together.

Yes, I'm one of THOSE moms.;)

SWTXBelle 06-05-2007 04:27 PM

I'm waiting for delivery of my son's "A Gamma Phi loves me!" shirt . . .

and see, the Chi O model looks like she has a little basketball under that shirt - not like a beached whale!

Is there a closeup available of the embroidery? That sounds so cute.

I don't have one. SWTXBelle, do you?

SWTXBelle 06-05-2007 04:56 PM

Nope - I saw it when I visited Chi O headquarters!

PeppyGPhiB 06-05-2007 05:28 PM

My good friend, a third generation Theta who married a guy with a Theta mom and sister, had a ton of Theta baby stuff given to her at her baby shower. A onesie and tshirt that said "Future Theta" and a baby-sized yellow swimsuit with black kites on it!

Any Idea where they found this stuff?

honeychile 06-06-2007 01:40 AM

You just have to be alert - and it doesn't hurt to have a friend who works at Gymboree or a place like that! When they put out their Monkey & Friends line, which featured the cutest lions in all sorts of clothing, my friend got a bunch for me at wholesale!
