Anyone here like the DISNEY CHANNEL??

One day after I came home from work(I worked the morning shift) I was running I high fever and had to lay down on my couch all day. I was so weak and sick I could hardly move. Anyway, the TV in the room I was in was stuck on the Disney Channel and I didn't have a remote. So I was stuck with the Disney Channel all night. My sisters are obsessed with it, and I always wondered why. I didn't like it.

I watched about 8 hours of the Disney Channel that day. Don't let the Disney name and low production values of these shows get to you, these shows are high quality stuff! I am now hooked on this channel and watch it almost every day. Suite Life of Zack & Cody, Hannah Montana, That's So Raven, Phil of the Future and Cory in the House - All good and funny shows! They also feature some young acting talent that should make it big in the future- given they don't go the path of former aspiring young actors turned tramps like Lindsay Lohan. I see Ashley Tisdale becoming one of the biggest names in Hollywood in a few years, and the girl who plays Hannah Montana becoming a chart topping singer.

Anyway, just wondering if anyone else likes this channel. It's under rated in my opinion.

BabyPiNK_FL 05-25-2007 03:22 AM

Miley Cyrus is technically already a chart topping singer. The Hannah Montana CD topped the charts when it came out.

I can't stand Ashley Tisdale, her hair is AWFUL! It's never the right cut shape or form. The shows repeat constantly. My sisters watch the same 15 episodes over and over again and some of them don't even make any sense. (Emporor's New Groove, That's So Raven). Hannah Montana and Suite Life of Zack and Cody are okay, but some of the shows and movies are absolute crap and I will never let my kids watch that all day when I eventually have some. These kids are always getting into some ridiculously wacky situation that is just out of this world and they become so campy. Ugh!

That sums up Disney perfectly. Yet I still watch it way more than a grown woman should. :)

sdsuchelle 05-25-2007 03:59 AM

Several people have told me that I look like and/or remind them of Ashley Tisdale. Hahaha.

I rarely watch Disney channel but when I do, I like Lizzie McGuire and Hannah Montana. High School Musical was AWESOME too, I love that movie.

KSigkid 05-25-2007 08:32 AM

I'm not a fan of anything connected to Disney, whether it's the channel, the movies, or the theme parks. I don't know why, I just don't like any of them.

33girl 05-25-2007 09:20 AM

Bras and the Disney Channel. I really want to know what's on your iPod.

Did you see the TV Funhouse on SNL re: the Disney vault? If not, find it immediately.

Haha, no, but I'll check for it on YouTube.

KDAngel 05-25-2007 10:38 AM

It'll always be one of my favorite channels.

I was babysitting for my boss the other night and he apologized in advance for the fact that I'd be watching the channel all night and I KNOW he thought I was crazy when I said I still watch it on my own. :p

AznSAE 05-25-2007 10:51 AM

i probably would have been a fan that day they accidentally showed porn. is was the disney channel right?

OneTimeSBX 05-25-2007 11:02 AM

since i have a 6 year old at home, i do end up watching some Disney channel...compared to some of the other things on different channels, i prefer she watch Disney. i will especially turn it on if they are showing an old movie, like The Little Mermaid, or something that came out when i was a child, so that we can watch it together.

Hannah Montana is a waste of brain cells. she talks funny so i only tolerate about 2 minutes of that show. Suite Life is cute though...

Yeah that was them.

I can't stand most of the shows on there now. Though I do love me some Kim Possible, and American Dragon is fun occasionally. But Suite Life? Raven? hell no. They all feel too forced to me.

I like the cartoons, but not "anime," and not bad renditions of movies (although Emporer's New School is a good movie to TV version), and I'm just generally picky. :p

WHEN WAS THAT??? I missed that.

As a newly graduated student, the last 4 years of my life have been spent with the Disney Channel (and Days of Our Lives), simply because Nickelodeon is NOT what it used to be. Disney gives me a good couple hours of mindless laughing in a clean, good-humored environment. If the alternatives are watching R. Kelly flirt and Justin bring sexy back, then I'll take Disney.

I do like the Suite Life, though the twins are really cute anymore. And it's really off-putting to know that Ashley Tisdale is older than I am. It just kills it.

Drolefille 05-25-2007 08:19 PM

Some "oops" sort of thing. There's a thread here about it, but if you Google News "Disney Channel" and "porn" you'll find it.

I just found out a few weeks ago how old the girl really was!!! I'm a few years younger than her now, and I look older than she does! (in a good way)

I'm an education major, and the teacher at the daycare I was doing my field experience at would sit the class in front of the TV with Hannah Montana. We watched 4 episodes in a row! FOR 2 DAYS IN A ROW!!!!!! I wanted to throw up; that cured me completely of Disney Channel for life!

mulattogyrl 05-25-2007 10:05 PM

My daughter is hooked on the Disney Channel, so unfortunately, I've learned to like it too. I sing all the theme songs - Suite Life, Hannah Montana, Raven, etc. I don't think my daughter even changes the station from that channel.

christiangirl 05-26-2007 12:19 AM

See, I thought I was gonna hate HM, but when I actually saw it, it wasn't that bad. But the way she talked DROVE ME NUTS. Someone said she had a piece in her mouth to help her not speak with such a heavy accent, but while she got used to it (if that was true), she talked like she was spitting on everyone within 10 feet.

I haven't bothered with the Disney Channel since they got rid of Even Stevens.

[cue CT4 saying "BEANS" right now]

I miss the old Disney shows...back when it was still good -- Even Stevens, Flash Forward, Bug Juice. Heck, even Kids, Inc. and the Mickey Mouse Club!

I have to admit that I do like some of their for-TV movies: Johnny Tsunami, The Color of Friendship, the Erica Enders Story, that one about the surfer girl who comes to Hawaii to learn about her mom, etc. Those movies were pretty good.

Thanks for this song in my head: "Kids Incorporated K! I! D! S!"

Johnny Tsunami was awesome, and I liked Color of Frienship too :)
I miss old school Disney...

Anyone else remember Fluppy Dogs? I think they were Disney.

You tell it, I totally agree. I freaking loved Bug Juice. They need to put that series out on DVD. I somehow managed to download some of the episodes from Season One from Limewire or I2Hub I think and I treasure them!
The older movies were really good, the newer ones suck. Disney Channel took a turn for the worse and now I can't bear to watch it anymore. Bring back 1997-2000 Disney please! I am not letting my kids watch it ever (when I have kids, a few years from now).

Oh yeah... "Bug juice! It doesn't come in a jar! Bug juice comes from who you are!" Man, I <3 camp. Season one was the best, can I get an amen?!

Amen!!!! "It has a flavor of what you can become!!"

Bug juice made me want to go to camp sooooo bad, but my parents wouldn't let me go that far away....so I grew up and became a camp counselor instead. :p

Ha! I did the same thing. My parents couldn't afford camp (I have three other siblings). As soon as I was old enough I started looking for counselor jobs. That was the most stressful and awesome summer of my life. I got paid to go to camp. It rocked so hard.

Ditto! Getting ready for camp is already stressing me out (I got a promotion, so it's more business than fun this year), but I still can't wait for camp to start! I still have another couple weeks to go. There was another Disney show that I loved so much...I was thinking about it today, but it escapes me now....grrrr, I'll remember it as soon as I log off.

BEANS!!! :)

My favorite Disney Channel shows were Even Stevens and Proud Family. I grew tired of That's So Raven and only really watched it when William (Cory's genius friend) was on there.

I do watch some of the Disney Channel movies though.

OneTimeSBX 05-29-2007 09:51 AM

oh yeah, the movies are tolerable. i have seen a few really good ones, they still manage to incorporate the same ditzy cast, but oh well...i guess until my child manages to make it onto that channel i'll have to deal with it!!

I am SO going to make my future spawn watch awesome kids shows, not the crap of today but what I grew up on. Carebears, My Little Pony, TMHT (yes, in the UK they were Hero Turtles, not Ninja Turtles. The movies came out as Ninja Turtles but the cartoon didn't. Why, I do not know!), Dangermouse, Muppet Babies, Ren and Stimpy, Sharky and George (did anyone watch that in the US? The theme song is still one of the all-time greats!). Yeah, I watched Ren and Stimpy as a kid and it's still awesome.

Great list, but you forgot Rainbow Brite!:)

Oh, and it always amuses me that the guy who played Gordo on Lizzie McGuire was like 20 when they finished shooting, and they were supposed to be in 7th grade.

OneTimeSBX 05-29-2007 12:24 PM

OMG what about Transformers, and my favorite Gummi Bears? i actually cant wait until the Transformers movie comes out, i am way too excited about that lol!

Ok, serious Disney Channel throwback - does anyone remember The Torkelsons? It was this sitcom about this family from a really small down. The show was centered around the oldest daughter (there were 5 kids and they all had double names) and was raised by a single mom. They were always struggling and kinda poor.

Anyway, i remember the show ending when the mom meets some well-off guy with 2 kids who owned a kids clothing company and they move to a big city (i think LA?) I dont think the show stayed on much after that.

There was another show called Flash Forward - i dont recall what the show was about too much, just a guy and girl BFF in middle school. looking back it wasnt anything spectacular, but i loved it!

I remember both of those. And on the Torkelsons, the little girl used to always talk to The Man in the Moon.

Flash Forward didn't have too many episodes...the main characters were Ben Foster & Jewel Satire

I used to be addicted to the Disney Channel as well. I guess I've just grown out of it over the past few years. I agree with y'all that old school Disney and Nickelodeon was the junk! From 1996-2001 the programming on those channels was classic, wholesome, and great. As far as Disney goes, I still watch some of the movies. I watch Life with Derek, Naturally Sadie (Love Canadian tv). I miss Smart Guy, the Proud Family, Lizzie McGuire, and Even Stevens.

Does anyone remember a tv show called My Brother & Me? It was on Nickelodeon, I think,

I had forgotten about the Torkelsons but IMDB reminded me all about Dorothy Jane and Kirby Scroggins, lol.
