My thoughts:

1) KUDOS to the restaurant owner for refusing to serve Simpson, and he had every right to.

2) Is Simpson's lawyer serious about the incident being about race?! That is about the dumbest thing I have ever heard. Why does OJ play the race card every time something happens to him? News flash: people don't like you because you're a total scumbag (not to mention a murderer IMO), not because you're black.

Honestly, even if you don't believe that Simpson killed Nicole Brown and Ron Goldman, you have to agree that he's total trash for trying to cash in on it with that book he wrote.

So why is this news?What the world stopps just because O.J. didnt get the "STEAK & LOBSTER" DINNER he wanted?????????

So since this is a topic of news today...I'd like to pose this question. If all the "whites" who killed,beat & attacked with dogs, arican-americans during the "civil rights" movement(not even going as far back as to slavery) eventhough they were GUILTY but, found NOT GUILTY would you refuse to serve them also.but, first think about all those "whites" who as of today who are JUST BEING PROSECUTED AND CONVICTED OF THESE MURDERS AND BEATING THAT TOOK PLACE MANY YEARS AGO!

To actually answer your question: If I owned a place of business, and if a public (public as in, everyone knows the guy, I can't look into men's hearts, I am not God) figure came in who had, in my opinion, obviously committed a crime (OJ was civily found liable, has never paid that $$$ and tried to make more that he had no intention of paying), but got away with it? Yes, I would refuse him service.

The second part of your post makes no sense to me. I'm unaware of any "whites" (wtf quotes?) who are just recently being prosecuted for these crimes, but if they're guilty I say hang the bastards. (Ok I say imprison them for life cause I"m not really a death penalty kinda girl.)

MARION, Alabama (AP) -- A former state trooper surrendered Thursday on a murder charge in the 1965 shooting death of a black man during a civil rights protest, a killing that led to the "Bloody Sunday" march and the passage of the Voting Rights Act.

Former trooper James Bonard Fowler, who contends he fired in self-defense in a struggle over a gun, was charged with first-degree and second-degree murder in the fatal shooting of 26-year-old Jimmie Lee Jackson.

The first-degree charge is for a killing that is intentional, while the second-degree charge is for one that is unintentional. Both carry a maximum penalty of life in prison.

Fowler, who is 73 and lives in Geneva in southeast Alabama, was allowed to remain free on a $250,000 property bond.

I live in the Midwest and though I read the paper, I didn't see anything about that case or any others.

I don't understand why a restaurant gets to arbitrarily refuse service.

They have the right to refuse service to anyone as long as it isn't because they're a member of a protected group. So refusing OJ because he doesn't like the guy is OK, refusing him because he's Black would not be.

I think he's incredibly scummy for taking a dozen people out to dinner instead of paying money that he owes in a civil suit. Even if he wasn't paying for their dinner, his was a contribution that he could have been paying.

Oh yeah and that whole "If I Did It, which I didn't, this is how the evidence would show that I did it, if I did, which I didn't, but I could have, but don't worry I didn't, please pay me more money that I'll hide from those I rightfully, legally owe." I'm not sure how that fit on the cover.

Oh, and I'm cool with refusing service to the people who were on the wrong side of the civil rights movement, too, if that somehow has anything to do with this.

Lucky for him, under Florida state law his football pension is protected from garnishment, also under California state law his house is safe. So the man gets to keep his only real source of income, but that has to be running short, hence his attempt to make a book deal. That money was allegedly going into his kids' accounts (to protect it from the law) but I suspect that he would have had access.

I guess I would pretty much sell a kidney for my kids, so I have a hard time with his lifestyle while pleading 'broke'. My husband's greens fees go into our budget each month and they are one of the first things to go if things get tight. It's a luxury, and if our kids had no trust for their futures, it would not be on the table at all. Along with steak dinners for 12. Hello Ramen noodles! LOL!:D

for instance, if I think someone is shoplifting, like if they pay for something small after browsing for three hours and then the alarm goes beep and they run out of the store...and then come back the next day (like a dumbass) they don't get to come in. You don't have the right to go anywhere you like just because it's there.

for a restaurant situation: OJ might be dangerous. Management had to think of the safety of their other customers and also their reputation, since service industry establishments (bars, resturants, etc.) mostly are either successful or failure-ful based on word of mouth, sometimes only word of mouth.

I mean, you can be turned down from a nightclub if you are not dressed the way that night club wants people inside to be dressed, so why not be turned down from a restaurant where they think you might kill someone or might have in the past?

Long post made short now: it wasn't OJ's restuarant, so OJ had no guarteed right to be there. He only has a right to be there and conduct business with that establishment if either he: A-owns said establishment or B-is welcomed by the people running that business. He wasn't. So he had to leave.

Rather O.J. committed the murders or not, the fact of the matter is we're forgetting that O.J. used to beat up Nichole really really bad. I thought he should have gone to jail on those charges alone before the murders even took place. Would I serve him if it were my place of business? Well, yes I would. I mean as long as someone is paying for it, why not? I'm not a fan of O.J. I think he's a jerk, but I would still serve him. I don't think anyone should be denied service unless they're causing problems or something.
