23. Don't assume all non blacks are racist or don't like you because you are black. Treat each individual as an individual and not just one of those...

24. Quit worrying about what white people are doing (for or against us) and start worrying about what we're doing for ourselves.

25. Recognize that racism, individual and institutional, does exist (the recognition is important, just because there is a black supreme court justice, that doesn't mean that it does exist.)
26. Understand that racism is a wall that can be scaled and not a cage that keeps us trapped. (When I think of what other have accomplished in the past, within a society where much more virulent forms of racism were acceptable, it makes me wonder where we would be now if those people had just given up hope.) |

27. Don't give up on our teenagers. Eventhough they "know it all" and make many mistakes, we must be there to help them when they fall. 28. Save for retirement. You can not count on Social Security. 29. Care for and respect our elderly. It seems as if we have gotten away from this in the past few decades, but we need to cherish our ancestors for their wisdom and knowledge. |

52. Practice good manners and not excuse bad manners as "that's how we do" or "I'm just keeping it real"

When elected to ANY position (political, social, civic) make sure all Is are dotted and Ts crossed. When you are a SEASONED politician, ALWAYS remember that you are NOT one of them. THEY may be able to get away with certain things, but YOU my brother/sister CAN NOT! You may THINK you're in the "club", but when the chips fall, they will fall on your assETS! |
54. Ditch the crabs in a bucket mentality.
55. Refrain from talking about people in the hood as "those people" or "those ghetto folks", or "those hood rats". Other people are listening to us and they think it's okay to repeat this. 56. Support HBCU's. Before we could get into "their" schools, HBCU's were the only place we could be educated. |
