In this thread, we discuss the Cirque du Soleil shows that we've seen (or wanna see)

I've seen 4 Cirque shows:
Allegria
Quidam
Varekai
and I saw "O" in LV last night.

"O" was really beautfiul and moving; my favorite so far. I also really liked Allegria and Varekai. Quidam was my least, but still impressive in that true Cirque du Soleil style.

I'd really love to see Mystere, the sexy one "Zumanity" and then the Beatles "Love" one. Even Ka sounds pretty cool.

"Le Reve" is not a Cirque show, but was created by Franco Dragone, ex-Cirque du Soleil guy. I saw part of it last year at The Wynn, but we had to LEAVE 45 minutes in, due to a mechanical problem with the stage and get a refund!!! Can you believe it? I was so choked.

FSUZeta 04-30-2007 10:22 AM

i have seen the cirque show "la nouba" at disney world twice-it was just as awe inspiring the 2nd time as the first. i have several other performances on tape from when they were just a touring company. fabulous, fabulous performances and well worth the price of admission. definately see them in person if you get the chance!!

Jill1228 04-30-2007 10:31 AM

Thanks for the thread. We are going in July and are discussing which Cirque show to see :D

My friend Sandra saw Mystere last September and loved it

BigRedBeta 04-30-2007 03:51 PM

I saw mystere in vegas with some pledge brothers. Got seats in the second row and it was totally worth it. Great great show.

jill -

we're going to see Zumanity in a couple weekends .. my mom has already seen it, when she was working at the Mirage they gave her tickets... she said she really liked it. We're also going to the Beatle's LOVE...

lyrelyre 04-30-2007 07:01 PM

I have seen Mystere, Love (twice), O, and Zumanity. I want to see Ka within the next few months. I think Love was my favorite, I went to the premiere and the after party. There were a lot of celebrities (including Paul, Ringo, and Yoko), which made it crazy packed at the Mirage.

I would love to see some of the non-Vegas shows but I haven't had a chance.

risingstar 04-30-2007 07:33 PM

I just went to my first show on Thursday night. It was Corteo. It was absolutely amazing. A new favorite for me.

efcheerBB 05-01-2007 07:55 AM

My boyfriend and I saw Quidam last year and are seeing Delirium this Friday. I am excited!

ZTAMich 05-01-2007 09:16 AM

I saw Ka in 2005. Loved it. Would love to see another Cirque show.

BetteDavisEyes 05-01-2007 09:24 AM

I've seen quite a few. In order of favorite to least favorite:

1. O - Absolutely amazing!
2. Varekai
3. Quidam
4. Zumanity
5. Alegria
6. Mystere
7. KA

I'm a big Cirque fan. I can't help it. I haven't been able to go to many of the newer shows recently but I'll make it up soon.

I know EXACTLY what you mean. I was so amazed and am already ready to see another show. I can see a show every month if I could. Unfortunately it comes to my city every two years. The last one that came before Corteo was Allegria, but I had no interest at the time. I regret that. This is an absolute favorite of mine now. I listen to the soundtrack every day on my way home from work, the music is undescribeable (sp?). Being a band geek, I LOVE live music, especially when it is so rich with culture. I had to get the dvd, too. I have to say that I am a merchandise freak. I always have to hit up the gift shop and buy everything! LOL. And their gift shop was crazy! The masks were like, $125.00. They were beautiful, but not that beautiful.

skywalker20_99 05-02-2007 05:56 PM

I saw Mystere in Las Vegas last summer. It was definitely worth every penny!

Munchkin03 08-30-2007 08:52 PM

I saw Corteo last year. It was great!

ZTAMich 08-30-2007 09:14 PM

We got tix for the new winter themed show at MSG for a while starting in Nov. Wintuk

JennRN 08-30-2007 10:58 PM

Oh, we were in Vegas in March and I was begging the Mr. to go see Love-because I love the Beatles and we've never been to Cirque. I was like, thisclose to getting him to say yes, and then we were in the baggage claim where they show advertisements for all the shows?? And one for Love came on, and it had bubbles and clowns singing and he was like-Hell no.

We missed Love.:(

CutiePie2000 04-08-2008 12:36 AM

I just got back from Las Vegas and I saw ZUMANITY. It was very sexy and hottttt!

I will be seeing Corteo this summer.

I've also seen:
Alegria
Quidam
Varekai
"O"

There is supposed to be a new one in Summer 2008, that is a joint venture between Cirque du Soleil, and Criss Angell, Mind Freak at the LUXOR!!
http://cirquedusoleil.com/crissangel...gel/countdown#

baci 04-08-2008 12:25 PM

I have seen several taped shows, but live performances:

Mystere (wonderful and totally worth the money)
La Nouba

I hope I am fortunate to see many more in my life.

HuskyAlum 04-08-2008 12:43 PM

LOVE is amazing!! The new digital music is amazing and they do a great job of interpreting the songs and even do the coolest part where 4 men end up in this pose: http://yorkregion.blogs.com/ecofreak/beatles.jpg.

It was fantastic!! :)

SWTXBelle 04-10-2008 10:02 PM

I'm going to see La Nouba for my birthday in May!

CutiePie2000 04-21-2009 12:54 AM

I'm going to be in Montreal next month and I am thinking of checking out their new production: OVO

http://www.cirquedusoleil.com/en/sho...how/about.aspx

It looks like it's about bugs and the ecosystem.

Unregistered- 04-21-2009 12:57 AM

We saw Saltimbanco last November and absolutely loved it!

BetteDavisEyes 04-21-2009 01:48 AM

To add to my list since I've seen more.

1. O - Still my favorite!
2. Drallion
3. Varekai
4. Quidam
5. Zumanity
6. Alegria
7. Mystere
8. KA

I'm waiting for tickets to go on sale for the latest show, KOOZA. I love their shows and am still mad that I didn't get to see Saltimbanco.

Since we're going to Disney World soon, we're planning on seeing La Noubawhile we're there.

CutiePie2000 08-26-2009 06:06 PM

My tally so far:
Allegria
Quidam
Varekai
"O"
Corteo
Zumanity
OVO

I'm hoping to catch Mystere or Believe on the next LV trip.

KSUViolet06 08-26-2009 06:18 PM

I saw Love in June 2008.

I cried.

It was quite possibly the best show I've seen in Vegas and I've seen quite a few (Zumanity, Mystere, and Ka).

So good that I plan on seeing it again when I visit for Christmas.

So question, what about it made you cry?

I saw Love this past July when I was with my friends, and I was the only one in the group who didn't cry (even my friend's boyfriend cried). I thought it was a good show, haven't seen any other of the Cirque's to compare it to, but to say it made me cry? Definitely not.

So glad we sat at the top though, I didn't know why our seats were more expensive than the seats closer to the stage, until we got to the bed section. Then I felt sorry for the people sitting down by the stage. lol.

I will say I was most definitely confused with the Pee-Wee Herman looking guy and who he was and what he was doing. Of course crying friend thought she new it all, but at the end I flat out told her she didn't know what she was saying (and she didn't, she made no sense).

I sooo wanted to see:
Zumanity--sorority sisters saw it and loved it
KA
don't know what it's called but it's the one where they are surrounded by water or something ( i think it's at the Rio)

Well, I generally love The Beatles. Seeing the songs sort of "acted out" just made me cry, partcularly "Hey Jude" and "Lonely People."

The sheer amazingness of it all made me cry (well, that and our seats were amazing).

Like, so amazing that one of the guys from the "All You Need is Love" scene came down and sat on my lap.

But really, the way it's set up, I find that there really are no BAD seats.

I can understand that, "Hey Jude" was my favorite part of the show. I can see that someone who generally loves the Beatles would cry, I definitely think my mom would bawl. I just didn't believe the sincerity in my friend's tears....especially since 2 seconds after saying how beautiful it was she started bitching about how they didn't play "let it be."

So i'm guessing you sat close to the bottom right? Were you able to see through the sheet and see what was happening above it?

Cause I was really bummed that I paid soo much for my ticket and wasn't close to the bottom, and then I saw them pull out the sheet, and I felt bad for the people at the bottom.

I PMed you, didn't want to spoil it for peeps who haven't seen it.

I like this thread, because i was in Vegas last week and saw my first ever Cirque Du Soleil show, KA. now i neeed to see more. I wanted to see Zumanity too. I was awestruck from the moment i walked into the theater. that alone was so awesome.

texas*princess 08-26-2009 07:53 PM

I've seen 3 in Vegas:
KA
"O"
Beatle's Love

They were all great, but I think KA was my favorite

That would be "O" which is playing at The Bellagio.

There is also "Le Reve" which is NOT a Cirque show, but is playing at The Wynn and was produced by Franco Dragone (who directed Cirque's Allegria, Saltimbanco, Mystère, Quidam, La Nouba and O, and then [presumably] left Cirque to do his own thing).

"Le Reve" is not a Cirque show, but given that it's a Dragone production, it sure looks like a Cirque show. It's very "O"-like and have water in it, etc.

We saw "Mystere" last month in Vegas. My mother and I were open to seeing "Love," but my sister, Miss Hip-Hop America didn't understand why there'd be a show about the Beatles.

I think I converted my mom to Cirque now!

It's funny because I'd consider my brother to be Mr. Hip-Hop, and he wasn't initially excited to see it (the tix were a gift so he really had no choice). Even HE walked out of the theatre saying "Wow, that was so good!"

Ahhhh I see. I think the one i'm thinking of is "Le Reve" all I know is that I could have gotten tickets for $20 each. lol.

The new City Center they are building is gonna house a Cirque show all about Elvis. I'm kinda interested to see how that would be, even though i'm not a big Elvis fan.

I swear hotel concierges are getting kickbacks for trying to get people to see Reve instead of a Cirque show. Our guy was all, "you should see Reve! It's just like the Cirque!" I'm sure it's great, but I wanted to see a Cirque show.

DreamfulSpirit 08-27-2009 10:27 PM

I have seen "Corteo" and "Ka" and both were AMAZING!!! I loved the stage for "Ka" and how it interacted with the story.

My b/f and I got student discount tickets at the MGM to see "Ka" and saved like $70 between the two of us.

CutiePie2000 08-27-2009 10:50 PM

I saw the first 45 minutes of 'Le Reve' and then they have a mechanical problem with some of the apparatus and had to cancel that night's performance. I did get a full refund but it was still a big disappointment. That was back in 2006.

'Le Reve' is extremely Cirque-like and right up until the snafu, I thought the performance was excellent.

What? You still haven't seen Dralion? You're killing me over here! :p I worked for Cirque for the Southern California runs of the Dralion and Varekai shows; so, of course I'm a little partial.

I'm kicking myself for not seeing Corteo when I had the chance back in 2008. Because I don't work in event management anymore, I didn't apply to work that run when it came through. My roommate really wanted to see it with me but we both dropped the ball when it came to finding a time to go and buying tickets. :(

The two that I'd really like to see are O and Ka, in that order!

.....Kelly :)

To my knowledge, Dralion has not come through Canada, hence why I have not seen it. All others, I saw in either Calgary or Vancouver (save for the two Las Vegas shows that I saw). I would make the trek to Seattle to see a show if it did not come through Vancouver.

I saw OVO, because I happened to be in Montreal at the time (May 2009).

AOII_LB93 08-30-2009 05:08 PM

I've seen Alegria, Dralion, Mystere, Varekai, Zumanity. Alegria was my first and is still the one I was most impressed by thus far. I want to see O, but I have no desire to see Believe mainly because I think Criss Angel is an idiot.
