Brother selling pins on eBay
Men of LXA,
It appears one of your own brothers is selling pins on eBay. http://search.ebay.com/_W0QQsassZlxaz1 There is also a thread in Greek Life about this. http://greekchat.com/gcforums/showthread.php?t=86820 |
Thanks, for the concern. I posted in length my opinion on this matter in that thread.
|
A pin is just that, a pin.
To me, he isn't selling a LXA pin, he's just selling a piece of metal with some jewels. We have to give symbols their meanings. If someone wants to sell a pin, that's great for them. Now, I noticed that many brothers say "DON'T SELL THE PIN, IT IS HISTORICALLY SIGNIFICANT". Or that we must keep it within the fraternity because it is a symbol and a part of our history. There is a lot of effort to preserve our past within the fraternity except... What if I told you that HQ is in possession of probably our most historical, important and significant items right now? What if I told you HQ is going to destroy a piece from our very first ritual? An object that was directly used for our very first initiation? How would you react? What would be your thoughts on that? |
It's pathetic what some people will do to try and undermine a fraternity such as ours.
|
Might I ask what exactly is being undermined?
|
Nothing is being undermined. The operative word is "try", and I was referring to the OP who should mind her own business and not crash our forum trying to stir up trouble. And that's all she was trying to do. Ignore her. She doesn't belong here.

I hope your joking about the last part. |
Tom, please delete this thread.
|
Thank you for illustrating my point. Now get out of here.
|
I'm not getting in between anyone on this forum!!! I just wasn't sure what you meant Jono, although I do somewhat agree with you. Don't worry about it though, there is nothing that anyone can do to undermine a fraternity by just selling a piece of jewerly or posting on a message board. We are too strong for that Jono.
Dever, unfortunately I wasn't joking about that last part. Our HQ currently owns one of, if not THE most significant piece of our history right now, and they want to give it away for destruction. I think the great majority of us on this board are in favor of saving historical items. Items that mean something to the fraternity. I have seen brothers spend THOUSANDS of dollars on pins, papers, rare items, etc. Reading the referenced posts, I see how much historical items mean to everyone on this board. Well HQ currently has a VERY significant item in their possession. It played a major role in the development of our fraternity, in our very first rituals and who we are today. This single one item was at the birth of our fraternity. When you think of our history and traditions, you are thinking of this one item. Now, will you agree with me that an item of this magnitude should be saved, preserved within the fraternity? Would you be a little disappointed if you knew HQ wanted to give it away to someone to destroy? Well, HQ has plans to sell our very first chapter house, Gamma Zeta, to the university who will then demolish it to make way for a new administration building. The same chapter house that our very first ritual was in, that we were born in. It is our very first chapter house. I'd like to think that this house carries a little more weight than a pin or a book. In the context of saving historical items, don't you think there should be an attempt to save our first chapter house? |
Quote:
Ever try to submit the house as a national/state landmark. The alpha sig house next door is a state landmark for being one of the oldest standing houses in Columbus. Means the government cant touch it now. |
Dever, some action is in the works. Unfortunately I wish it would never have come to that.
Anyways, don't worry about the past, you can't change it. Focus on the future. Let us oldtimers worry about the past, YOU focus on recruitment and keeping the chapter moving forward. Active members should not worry about the past until they reach alumni status. Believe it or not, I think 97% of LXA's really don't know much about our past other than a brief sampling of whats in the Paed. Don't worry, all in good time. |
These people are ridiculous, I also posted on the other thread, but there are SEVERAL people on GC who are just too damn narrow-minded, to understand what actually goes on.
I mean the highest I seen a badge other than LXA go for was like 50-60 dollars, WOW what a profit on that! He can be a millionaire overnight with all the money he is raking in (i know the brothers got the sarcasm, but the rest of the fools probably wont) :D Anyway, they are just hatin' on Lambda Chi Alpha, probably out of frustration from the fact that we are the BEST, no contest! |
"Don't sweat the small stuff"
|
A quick search of ebay turned up 141 listings under "fraternity pin" and 183 for "sorority pin."
Any reason you're so interested in the handfull of pins beign sold by our brother? Are you vigilantes, tracking down all sellers of greek pins? What is your motivation? |

Success will be ours. |

Lisa, you have a LONG way to go as a sister and sorority if you get that worked up over a pin.

Looks like we have a good ol'fashioned internet fight on our hands. Before we progress any further, I suggest you read the following article:
http://www.somethingawful.com/d/news...ument-lose.php |
Now before things progress any further sweetheart, I want you to put down the Twinkie, and the can of frosting, and the Pringles, and the brownie, and the Ben & Jerry's Ice Cream, and the Burrito Supreme, and the Doritos and take a deep breath.
You are about to start arguing on the internet, think about that for a second. Just relax, no one is going to take away your Extra Crispy K.F.C. |
Ya know, you're right. I really should have shown you some respect. I hope it's not too late to start, but I really respect the fact that you can type with your greasy little fingers and not have a typo in your post.
|
I think the important thing to remember is that some organizations view the pin as owned by the national organization. They "require" their members to be burried with the pin or return it to nationals. As far as I know we do not have such a policy. We view the badge as only a piece of jewlery which we own and can freely trade, sell, melt, etc.
I don't understand the obsession over "saving" pins, but it's not for me to judge other people's choice of how to spend their money. I don't think we should be questioning the devotion of other members to their organization, it is below us. |
Ptless thread
Tom, just delete this thread.... the cat fight btn GZ and the others is really just getting to be a pain...
|
Hey, I didn't come from another board and start insulting brothers and LXA. Don't like it? Tough.
|
The reason this Post was started by This poster is for one reason and one reason only, an attack aginst me and only that!
She has a following of sheep who sniff where she follows and that is all!:o The other Thread that she was refering to has sense been closed or deleted. I am locking this thread and give it a moment and then will delete it. I think most if not all of The Brothers know me and I am not out to rip people off as GeekyPenguin professed. In fact, I posted on the GPG thread information about one of their Pins that was Stolen.. Well, there is a lot of Greek Love isn't there?:( |
Because it has been requsited by Our Brothers via PM, I have reopened this thread so we can see in their words what they have posted and will post since the Post that GreesyPenguin was refering to!
That post was closed by one of the MODs. I wish that I knew that that Post had been closed after what I posted and checked the Spelling to make sure it was correct for their perusal! :D Kidding on that end of it!:) If anyone wishes an explanation about certain Posters of the Cadre of Earp Haters, PLEASE PM Me!:) Great GLO Members are they not?:o |
I play chess, I am RUSTY as Hell!:)

First thing that came to my mind...a potato. I thought you were joking. Then I found out you were talking about a house. I can't help myself to remember how much you dislike symbols and historical significance. It's a house. It's made of boards, wood, bricks, nails, etc. It doesn't mean anything. It doesn't stand for anything. Sure, it was important at one time, but c'mon, it's just a house. /my tone TEAR IT DOWN! |
Pi, it IS just a house, that was my point.
It's called a double standard. |
Let us just go our way in spite of people out side of The Circle!
If You feel there is a problem then post this to the Moderator! Not Me, the owner of The GC Site!:) In ZAX, |
Look, bottom line: Ladies, many of us know at least part of the situation. We know that the only reason you are posting in the Lambda Chi section is to stir up trouble.
As you can see, it's not going to work. If you've read many of our threads, you know that our discussions are often quite lively. We disagree often and with zeal. That's what brothers do. The funny thing about Lambda Chi's, though...we are brothers - first, last and always. If you mess with one of us, you mess with all of us. Don't think for a second you can come here and get us to turn on one of our brothers. If one of our brothers offered our ritual and Jack Mason's ashes for sale on ebay for a buy it now price of five bucks, we would not give you or anyone else the satisfaction of calling him out on a public thread. And I would hope you would treat your sisters the same way. Nice try. Now please let it go. |
Nice Ottor, my thoughts exactly. We may disagree quite a bit, but I never lose any respect or think of anyone as anything less than a brother.
If any of you guys ever come out here, let me know, I'll be the first to buy you a beer. I always like to see what people on the LXA forum have to say about OTHER topics than greek life, mainly because I respect and value everyone's opinions. I really wish we covered other topics on this forum other than LXA, but that of course would defeat the purpose of it. I love talking to many of the members on this forum over the phone about non-LXA topics. I find it funny as hell to talk to people across this country. There is more to the bond of LXA than JUST LXA, believe it or not! Brothers are friends, and friendship is more than just an organization. EDIT: Forgot to add, if you're a stranger, don't screw around with another brother, cause you're messing with me as well. |
First off, as I mentioned, this person has a vendetta towards me and only me!
Since the Link was locked and I could not post on it I will refer it here! 1. Yes I have listed Pins from other GLOS. But, I was buying those Pins for a spesfic reason! I was collecting Pins from the GLOs who were on campus when I started BX that affiliated with LXA fo History for the Zeta. It will as I said a part of History for the House. 2. Yes I am putting Badges on ebay at what I paid for them as I need money! 3. I have over paid for many of these Badges to save from collectors. 4. I have donated 4 Bsadges so far to My Zeta for our Auction to raise money for them. It will not be the last! 5. I ask only what I paid for them on ebay! 6. The Pins I put on ebay are always in those GLOs Sites so that Those Members can purchase them! 7. The LXA Badges are also put int LXA only! 8. I have offered LXA Badgez on this site and others for Brothers including my own . 9. I am needing Money and have offered them for what I paid for them! So, if any is intersested then only have to PM or email me!:) In ZAX, |
