Leadership Conference this Summer

Hey all, this is my first post. I was wondering who here is going to the 2007 Stead Leadership Seminar in Memphis. This is the first conference I'm going to. I was wondering who has gone to one of these and what should I expect.

First, welcome to GC LXA Thread.

Yes there are other Brothers on this site who will be there, I wish I could be there and re-meet some of the great Brothers on site.

But, first things first, go back through thisd theread and see all of the information and see what is available for you and your Brothers for information!

There are some very smart Brothers who you and they can learn from, I have! :)

I'll be attending as well

I will be attending as well, although this time I am a "minister without portfolio" as the chapter where I served as adviser was closed in October.

That being said, I believe that I'll have some work to do; although I'm not teaching, I suspect that I will wind up on the chapter standards committee. I will also be gathering some information from the undergrads to assist me in my work with the standing committee on the constitution & stat code.

Looking forward to attend my first. I hear by the time you leave one of these conferences you are never the same, and have a new outlook on the fraternity. Should be a blast. I can't wait for that baseball game. Few thousand LCA's sitting in the stands could get interesting.

boz130 04-25-2007 10:03 PM

Baseball game? The alums haven't received any itinerary info yet, to my knowledge...what game are you referring to?

dever860 04-25-2007 10:21 PM

http://www.lambdachi.org/conferences/2007sls/faq.asp

"Brotherhood Outing
As a guest of the Grand High Zeta, brothers and associates will collectively represent Lambda Chi Alpha at a Memphis Redbirds (the St. Louis Cardinals' Triple-A club) baseball game. While at the ballpark, we will enjoy catered local cuisine, in downtown Memphis, and all brothers are encouraged to wear letters for the event."

Not much of an itinerary ill admit. I would like to know more about the events they are going to have. I know a bit about some of the events they are going to have, nothing more than what I have read and what my ELC told me. New kappa program, new AM program, true brother program, new kappa packet, new Phi packet, new Tau packet, new sigma packet. Not sure about the sigma, but I think there might be some other new packets.

Dave J 1233 04-26-2007 10:18 AM

I'll also be there and I can't wait. I've heard it's always an awesome time and you gain new outlooks.

EM1843 04-26-2007 10:58 AM

I'm debating going. The 10 hour drive could be a pain in the arse.

Tom Earp 04-26-2007 02:30 PM

I hope some one takes pictures and try especially get some of G C Brothers and post it!:)

From some of the oldsters I see going, you need to meet them as they are super Brothers.

We will have to show them how we party it up here in Ohio. When are you coming back to Columbus?

oh shit! John? I know you. I told Shnider I'd stop by on my way back to school. I'm in Alabama right now for work, and I'll be heading back that way around July (if I'm allowed back in Ohio (long story(ending with Go Gators!))).

Anyway, Keep it ZAX.

As far as I am concerned Florida is no longer part of the Union.

EM1843 05-01-2007 12:52 PM

We aren't part of the Union. Tallahassee was the only Confederate capitol east of the Mississippi not captured.

Anyhow, I'll be there. Still deciding if I'm flying or driving.

boz130 07-23-2007 01:00 PM

Okay, GCers heading to Memphis...we need to figure out when/where to have our picture taken for posterity. I move that we try to do it @ the Memphis Redbirds game (beers held behind the back, please). Whattyathink?

Tom Earp 07-23-2007 01:49 PM

Take pix to put on site.

Have a great time and I am sure you will enjoy meeting each other as I did in Indy!

In ZAX,

PS, wish I could be there! Look up the Brother from LX Z and say hi for me!:)

JConleyWCU 07-23-2007 03:03 PM

Beta-Zeta will be there... This is our first conference since returning to campus at WCU. Hopefully it will be a great experience, I plan on taking many pictures and if I have time visiting some bad ass BBQ restaurants. We are bringing a couple brothers and our faculty advisor.

GammaZeta 07-24-2007 03:21 PM

Oh God, BBQ. Someday I would love to try some real southern BBQ.

What New England lacks in BBQ though, we make up for in seafood.

NutBrnHair 07-24-2007 03:30 PM

Have fun in Memphis, guys!

Go by and check out the Chi Omega Executive HQ in Southwind if you have a chance. PM me for more info., if you're interested.

Have a great meeting.

JConleyWCU 07-29-2007 03:48 AM

Memphis was a friggin blast... too tired to continue... but... True Brotherhood program is going to be great.

Tom Earp 07-29-2007 05:27 PM

Would love to hear about with Pixs on Sites!:)

boz130 07-30-2007 01:47 PM

For the record, getting 800 people together in one place is like...

A) Herding cats (per John Gezelius)
B) Putting mercury back into a broken thermometer (my own analogy)
C) Supply your own idea...

When you get that many people together, it's tough to find everybody from GC @ one time. I'm sorry I wasn't able to get a mass group shot of every GCer in attendance.

On the other hand, I managed to have a "mini-GC" photo taken @ a Memphis Redbirds game w/Brothers Ackfeld, Chipperfield, the authors of thoughts A & B and our illustrious Grand High Alpha-cum-1st-Pitch-Thrower, Ed Leonard. If you'd like a copy, send me a PM w/your e-mail address.

For those of you lucky enough to attend LS07 & the game, all I can say is, "PERRY...PERRY".

BF

JConleyWCU 07-30-2007 03:03 PM

THat poor guy, how about all those Pikes that showed up??? that was friggin great... Many thought there would be the largest fight in fraternity history

True Brother will revolutionize our great fraternity, and the Ritual exemplification was amazing. . . And I had a blast playing Dodgeball

Oh my...I had dinner with Ed Leonard -- gee, probably almost 20 years ago. Nice to see he's "done allright for himself!" LOL

Bilski 07-30-2007 05:34 PM

New website

Has anyone seen the new website? They were supposed to launch it at LS but when I visit lambdachi.org it's still the old one...

Albert109 07-31-2007 12:13 AM

Website

Like Bilski, I thought the new site would have been put up at the end of the conference. But, I had talked to our Φ a couple days ago while he was still in Memphis regarding all that was going on there. From what I gathered, the new website (which is apparently in beta version as of yet) is currently available only to select chapters. Also, it seems to have taken on a facebook type quality to it. Since I've never seen it, that could be either good or bad for those aquainted with facebook/mysace. Though he certainly is floored away by it.

EM1843 07-31-2007 07:43 AM

Sounds like you guys had an awesome time. I wish I could have made it.

Isnt Ed a super Gentleman!!!!!!:)

Have not seen or heard about the new web site, but there have been talks for years!

While much better than some, it was hard to navigate.

I am looking forward to it getting up soon.

Maybe in the New C& C next month!

Also hope the New Programing will be put up also so all of us know what it is all about.

I wonderful guy! Our paths crossed when he was working in the development office at Georgia College.

meier563 07-31-2007 11:01 PM

The website looks kind of like a facebook page with your information on it that you control the settings of what is shown. It will be released on the 27th to the 20 test chapters, of which my chapter is part of. With officer transitions or status of a member is changed must be confirmed by 3 of the officers in the chapter. Then the Pi or nationals will confirm it to take affect. I will post more info as it’s released to my chapter and we get to use it.
