Rosie leaving The View in June! YAY!

Rosie O'Donnell leaving `The View'
By DAVID BAUDER, AP Television Writer 9 minutes ago

YES! YES! YES! Now maybe I will start watching the show again. :)

Kevin 04-25-2007 11:29 AM

Leaving or being told to leave are two different things, and I think/hope it's the latter.

She has said some pretty stupid/bigotted things regarding Catholics. Also, her WTC theories are pretty offensive.

1908Revelations 04-25-2007 11:55 AM

**doing happy dance**

Farewell Rosie!!

nikki1920 04-25-2007 12:18 PM

Yes. I am so glad to see her go. She was a too heavy handed and tried to run it like it was HER show.

VAgirl18 04-25-2007 12:44 PM

i want elisabeth to smack rosie on her last episode.

AlphaFrog 04-25-2007 12:47 PM

Maybe they'll hire another conservative so poor Elizabeth actually has a chance.

Yeah, right.

AKA2D '91 04-25-2007 12:51 PM

They haven't hired Star's replacement. It will probably take equally as long to replace Rosie, if they choose to do so.

I'm sure this is REALLY the beginning of the end for TV.

mulattogyrl 04-25-2007 01:33 PM

Good, because she was a pain in the arse.

I want Rosie to give Eli a punch in that manly jaw on the way out.

AlphaFrog 04-25-2007 01:44 PM

I'm wondering if she got the "Quit or be canned" from Baba Wawa like Star did.

dzfan 04-25-2007 02:05 PM

Aww, I am really sad! I love her -- i think she is hilarious but i am sure they will find someone good to replace her. Who do yall think it will be? I am glad she will be back to make guest apperances...

I feel so old, because I remember when she really was funny. That was long time ago, before she went bitter, mean and crazy.

But what do I care -- I've never seen an episode of The View, and I don't think that will change.

honeychile 04-25-2007 02:29 PM

Don't watch it now, won't watch it later - but I'm still happy that ABC has seen that most people have had enough of her.

Don't let the screen door hit you, Rosie!

Did you actually read the article?

O'Donnell said on the show Wednesday that she wanted to stay for one more year, and ABC wanted three.
ABC wanted her for longer than she wanted to stay.

That's what she says, and maybe it's true. I don't take it at face value however. Maybe that's the story for public consumption to save face and avoid more tension while her contract runs out. Maybe ABC intentionally stuck with an offer they knew she wouldn't accept. Who knows.

I believe they actually wanted her. The ratings of The View have been higher since Rosie joined than ever before. Everyone I know that actually watches started watching after Rosie joined. When Rosie leaves, what's left, some middle aged, conservative farts sitting and bitching about how America is immoral and the Bush administration is the only thing standing between us and oblivion.

Eli is far from middle aged and Joy and Baba Wawa are far from conservative.

Rosie is annoying.

Then why make it three years or nothing? Sign her for another year and hope that she'll stay on after that. If they really wanted her, they wouldn't have insisted on three years -- they would have taken what they could get.

My money is on they're glad to see her go, but they don't want to come out and say that.

Eli is old before her time, that or incredibly naive. Joy and Barbara are def. conservative, maybe not as far right as Eli, but they aren't liberal. Walters has a love of Murdoch!

Joy is conservative compared to who? Howard Dean?

Joy Behar is on the record as being pro-same-sex marriage and opposed to the Iraq war, has called the Bush Administration a bunch of "liars and murderers," and claimed that Sen. Tim Johnson's health problems just might be part of a Republican conspiracy to retake control of the Senate, saying "I know what that Party is capable of."

That's your idea of a conservative?

cutiepatootie 04-25-2007 05:02 PM

Happy Dance that she is leaving! i cannot stand her loud mouth, bitter ,and mean comments about everything and anything! I will start watching again once she is gone but in the mean time Happy Dance!!!!!!!

ROTFL! I knew I wasn't the only one getting on the "good foot."

But I still won't be watching the show after she's gone. It remains utterly wack.

AGDLynn 04-25-2007 10:10 PM

Rosie and I both can't stand D-Hair.

I don't Joy (boy, was she misnamed!); I hate when someone is saying something and then Joy has to open her big mouth and make a sexual comment. Give it a rest! If you want all the laugshs, go back to standup all the time.

Eliz -- okay...

Barbie -- okay....

It's interesting I can get all the Atlanta channels except Channel 2 (ABC) on my little handheld tv and my tv/radio in certain places.

DeltAlum 04-25-2007 10:51 PM

I don't know if ABC wanted to keep her or not.

But for those who are celebrating, the broadcasting "trades" have at least some speculation that she (or ABC or someone else) may be working on a solo host show for her.

Or maybe they could pair her up with Don Imus. In my opinion, they both have a great face for radio.

Well that's that. Everyone in the world watches the show only because Rosie was on there, just because everyone you know does.

i can deal with rosie on her own show - i actually like her most of the time. i just hated her interaction with the other hosts on The View. It hasn't been the same show for a long time (which isn't rosie's fault).

I'm just trying to reiterate that the ratings for the veiw have been higher since rosie joined, and they will probably drop when she leaves. Read much?

Yes, causation obviously equals correlation . . . or you could, y'know, listen to what other people are telling you.

Selection bias much?

I think there are way more people out there who hate Rosie than love her. Drama attracts people. People bring ratings. Voila!

I thought she was super annoying when she had her own show, add in those other people, and no thanks. Between the "cutie-patootie" over usage and her creepy crush on Tom Cruise, I am surprised she lasted as long as she did.

Then again I've never watched anything more than snippets of "The View" as I have stuff to do during the day.

cutiepatootie 04-28-2007 06:58 PM

I thank you for " " ..."cutie-patootie" .....i do not want to be associated with rosie on any level!

AKA2D '91 05-29-2007 11:13 AM

*bump*

Kevlar281 05-29-2007 02:18 PM

I had to do some searching for the clip that spawned the current media storm. It was actually hard to find; apparently Rosie has said a lot more on The View.

Rosie O'Donnell VS Elisabeth Hasselbeck on The View 5/23/07

Rosie O'Donnell's @ The View - UK Sailors Hostage & Iran Goverment

Rosie O'Donnell 9/11...This one actually is the most disturbing because you can hear the way the audience is responding as if everything Rosie is saying is a fact.

Thetagirl218 06-02-2007 01:02 AM

I think Rosie was being a total ass, but that is just my opinon! Of course, I have always liked Elisabeth better. I am happy Rosie is finally leaving! Of course I say all this and I seriously only watch the view when my tv turns on and it is onthat channel!!!

ASUADPi 06-02-2007 10:28 AM

I don't feel everything is just Rosie's fault (but she definately instigates problems) but Elisabeth, well I think she is young and naive. I don't think she knows how to deal with someone who is of a COMPLETELY different opinion than here. Elisabeth is uber-conservative and Rosie is uber-liberal and the others fall in the middle. Of course you are going to have conflict when you have the uber-conservative and uber-liberal duking it out.

I watched The View before Rosie came on and Elisabeth, IMPO, is just a baby. She didn't really know how to handle someone who just straight up say "sorry I don't agree with you at all", where the other ladies would kind of sugar coat things for her. (Again this is my personal opinion, obviously feel free to disagree :D)

If by "fall in the middle", you mean that they're not to the left of Nancy Pelosi, like Rosie is, then ok. But Baba Wawa and Joy are far from Moderate.

I agree, for the most part. Yes, Joy and Barbara Walters lean to the left, but they are not "uber"-liberal. They are able to express their opinions in a more restrained manner. Meredith was a voice of reason and tended to smooth things over. The View knew they were going to spark conflict when they hired Rosie so they should not be surprised that this occurred. I see this in the same light as the Imus incident (hear me out) where a network hired someone who they knew was highly controversial BECAUSE that person was highly controversial and they knew it would create conflict. Society loves conflict. When was The View ever in the news before hiring Rosie? NEVER. Look at all the free PR now. They knew exactly what they were doing, didn't they?
