Roll Call!

I know there's more than two or three people on here who rates higher than a 0 on the Kinsey Scale.

If you're loving or curious how it's like where it ranges from red to violet, raise your hands! Up high, please no limping this time. I suspect at least four girls on here swings the other way or at least are interested in doing so.

Come on, I know some of you really really enjoyed certain sorority activities, while active. You had a little too much fun having those naked pillow fights...you couldn't wait until you initiated pledges so you could sneak a peak at their T&A while they were blindfolded...your favorite intramural sport was volleyball hoping a boob would pop out a shirt while someone spiked a ball.

Oh yeah, I forgot about the guys for some reason. My gaydar doesn't go off with any of you. But, if you are "like that", join in too!

James 04-24-2007 10:04 PM

Are you trying to tell us something about yourself, or just bored? ;)

I've already done that, this thread is not about me, it's about the girls and the guys who wish to participate. :) Yes, I am bored too. :p

Senusret I 04-24-2007 10:20 PM

I'm a Kinsey 5!

mulattogyrl 04-25-2007 07:33 AM

For those that aren't familiar:

0- Exclusively heterosexual with no homosexual
1- Predominantly heterosexual, only incidentally homosexual
2- Predominantly heterosexual, but more than incidentally homosexual
3- Equally heterosexual and homosexual
4- Predominantly homosexual, but more than incidentally heterosexual
5- Predominantly homosexual, only incidentally heterosexual
6- Exclusively homosexual

I think I'm a Kinsey 2.

33girl 04-25-2007 08:08 AM

OK, I know what the first 5 letters are, but "I" & "A"?

Senusret I 04-25-2007 08:11 AM

Intersex and Allies, I assume.

So what's the difference between intersex and transexual?

Add this thread to the list of things I've learned on GC.

PenguinTrax 04-25-2007 09:19 AM

Transsexual is a person desiring to change their gender assignment. Intersex means that there is genetic or physical evidence of more than one gender.

Now that you say that, I remember a L&O:SVU episode about that. How the parents chose to make their baby a girl and get rid of the extra, um, appendage - and apparently they chose wrong...

Thanks for clearing that up b/c I didn't know what was going on,

I'm a 0!!!!!!!

Scandia 04-25-2007 10:26 AM

I think A means "asexual".

re-hijack: Was this the episode where he/she had a twin brother? That was deep man, lol.

Except I don't think asexual would really be part of the Kinsey scale - unless they went with a 3, being that both would equal 0.

There's a separate Kinsey rating for asexual - it's "X" I believe, with some irony

I saw that- and I believe it was because something went wrong with the equipment (no pun intended) during the circumcision, and they decided to do gender reassignment and raise the child as a girl. Apparently it was a good idea in theory but the results were disasterous.

It also gets my vote for most depressing episode ever.

That could have something to do with the therapist making her act out sex with her twin brother...

It's a true story. And it gets more depressing.

The book As Nature Made Him is an excellent book, although written by a journalist and not a social scientist.

It's used in many undergraduate and graduate level gender courses.

Dr. John Money was very eccentric and a complete asshole in many aspects of his life.

Sidebar: Anne F a u s t o-Sterling has some interesting articles about the link between sex and gender.

DSTCHAOS 04-25-2007 12:16 PM

Apparently, it's okay to type "asshole" on here but not "F a u s t," hence the spacing between the letters in "F a u s t o." :)

That used to be the standard for a botched circumcision or for any sort of uncertainty about the babies physical sex. At the time, doctors thought it was all about how we were raised. Yeah, that didn't work out so well.

ETA: Oh and a Kinsey 0 here. File me under ally :)

Still BLUTANG 04-25-2007 12:26 PM

is there an online version of the test? i THINK i know my number... but i wanna be sure ;)

I love SVU though - its one of my favorite shows. That was an interesting episode - depressing and dark, but then again many SVU episodes are.

(not to continue the hijack or anything... :o )

Besides a few quizzes that don't seem very accurate. That's about all there is. Kinsey got his information through open ended questions rather than tests.

Here's one bootleg test:
My bad, those were my results. The test rated me a 3, but I no thinketh so, lol. Look at the next poster for the test:

Try this link : http://quizfarm.com/test.php?q_id=4827&first=yes

Yeah, you'll have to trust your own ratings. I hope no one rates themselves higher/lower according to how much you like penetration, that doesn't have much to do with your orientation.

Sister Havana 04-25-2007 01:40 PM

Kinsey Institute is at my alma mater! I always wanted to get in there and check it out, but never had a valid reason. ;)

Glitter650 04-25-2007 05:30 PM

Any one see the movie Kinsey ??? VandalSquirrell and I found it interesting. :)

im not going to use a quizfarm test to judge my kinsey#... but i do remember doing a quiz that seemed pretty legit and i was a 2. but im sure i was closer to 3. of course that's all mental so i've got no proof...

VAgirl18 04-25-2007 08:51 PM

i scored a zero...just like i expected

neosoul 04-25-2007 09:54 PM

I'm a Kinsey 4-5ish

I pretty much judged it on my own and I took the quiz fam just for fun. I scored 92% for 0

susan314 04-25-2007 10:55 PM

So what's a Kinsey 6? (On the quizfarm test they include a Kinsey 6 category, but in this thread everyone lists only 0-5. )

ETA: The questions on the quizfarm test were worded strangely. Maybe its just me, but I couldn't figure out how to answer some of them to correctly reflect my opinion. :O
