ABC Greek life show
 

So there's a comedy about Greeks coming out this summer on ABC. Has anyone heard about it? Are they going to do the same old greeks get drunk and haze crap?
I'm having so much trouble getting friends to believe that I've made a good decision by going greek so this kind of thing is really irritating.

I completely agree. The negative portrayal of Greeks is getting a bit banal and even mundane. Get a better story line for a television show, please!!! I can't even MENTION being a sorority without someone asking me, "So what did you have to do to GET IN (wink wink)?" It makes me sick, since they are obviously insinuating something gross/dirty/demeaning/ or downright STUPID. Also, they are never satisfied when I say, "Honestly, NOTHING!!!" They hate it even more when I proceed to tell them about philanthropy, community involvement, leadership, and scholarship, instead of the run-of-the-mill "drunken sorority chick" stories. On the contrary, however, I have had several people tell me they appreciate the information I gave them, though.

I just watched the preview for it on virtualrush.com and it made me sick. Every greek member is half dressed, drunk, or hazing. I can't believe that they're making a whole series about this, because most of it is NOT TRUE!!! I'm getting so mad about this. When I told my friends at church that I became a member of Alpha Gam, they all got these weird looks on their faces and either said "Oh...that's nice" or "They're not making you do anything, are they?" These series will definitely help them better understand greek life :rolleyes:

Terrible. I just watched the preview. It seems like more of a show for FOX or the WB rather than ABC Family. But maybe they're just trying to boost their ratings. The thing that makes me sick is that these are the kinds of shows that high school girls watch and try to be like. Sadly I will probably watch it just to see if the show is anything like the preview. Time will tell.

The show will either turn incoming students off of greek life. Or it will get them intrigued to find out about real greek organizations. The trouble will be in defying the stereotypes and false bits portrayed on the show.

The only way to do do that is to keep on being the best that you can be and defying the stereotypes.

I wish someone would write a book or make a show about how things REALLY go on during rush. But then again...real life is kinda boring and now a days, people want action, drinking, sexiness. So sad. :(

Hahaha that may be the third fake tv sorority I've seen that uses zeta beta. Zeta phi betas need to sue!
Veronica Mars used Zeta Theta Beta, I believe the Nancy Drew tv movie used Zeta Beta something and now this...ha, awesome.

You know, even those of us with Sigmas are guilty of that.

The sad part for us Phi Sigs is that many sisters have a shirt that says

Go Greek with the O a Phi and the E's Sigma's. Now if we wear that shirt they'll think we're promoting the new TV show. ARGH!!!!

Funny story about Sigmas and "E"s ... on campus, people would often spell our name REE, hence my user name! It used to drive me crazy. Maybe that's why I thought it was silly!

I'm not sure why he doesn't say "ek" but whatever floats his boat :rolleyes:

I just got done watching the preview and I heard them mention Kappa Tau. That was the name of my fraternity before we went National in 1923.

I think the creators are trying to make the little brother the hero in the story by standing up to all the stereotypes.
