BlackSocialites.org
What do you think of this group?
|
Mmm-mmm...... something's fishy. No history, founders, dates?
Use of the word "socialite" and all this talk about selectivity, but they ask for an application and money up front? Link to their cafe press "store?" Seems like the broke-down version of the Links to me. I can be proven wrong, though. |

2 things make the "org" look suspect to me
a) telling people that you're exclusive. We have enough exclusivity in the Black community... the people who KNOW what the orgs are know, the people who don't wont. b) I find it funny that the "testimonials" list the OTHER membership of the ladies. Like it needs the validity of having members that are in D9 Sororities (no disrespect) to be valuable or worthwhile. Off TOPIC: I actually enjoyed the myspace page and the links to OTHER magazines and stuff. :) |
Also . . why so hush hush about the events that they hold??? I would think that they would want promote the community events that they do . . .just my thoughts . .again I really don't know much about orgs like these, but that struck me as I went to the site

I was looking under questions and saw this:
Is there anything that I may have done in my past or now that prevents me from becoming a member? Association with Gangsters by condoning and enabling their activities The way they keep referring to gangsters reminds me of strait-laced white people (no offense) speaking of rap music....LOL :D |

Now I have to ask....if someone would be kicked out....why would they pay a fine:confused: ! This is sooo funny! |
I want to join, however I can't afford the $20.00 yearly fee.
We do not have a free membership. BWAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!!!!! |
Hold up! Check out the list of names that they are trying to align themselves with. They seem to be trying to say that these women are their founders, or esteemed members of their organization.
Sorors, why do they have Soror Sadie T.M. Alexander and others listed? Wow, and double wow. |
Is this website serious? I'm confused. I worked in a prison with gangsters, does that mean I can't join?
Oh well, I can't afford the $20.00 membership anyway. :(:p:p |
The application includes questions about social rank, political affiliation, and fashion choices...
Er? |
Uhhhhhh
Ok, I don't remember with this topic was first posted, but I sincerely hope THEY are not serious!! Smells like a scam to me...I mean all it took was browsing their "national website". I find it interesting that they mentioned various women of prestige as affiliates, however I have never once heard any one of these people proclaim membership in such org.:confused::confused: I too am suspicious at the fact that they ask for money upfront. I also took a peek at their MySpace...do they even have authorization to use some of those pictures they posted and how come none of them (from what I've seen) are recent??
Just some thoughts, lol Also, they claim to be committed to service unlike and in a way better than any other service oriented org. (i.e. sororities)...and so I say to you...where's the proof?? |
