TV Shows that make you cry
Well we have the movie thread, so I thought we should start a TV Show thread. :D
Buffy the Vampire Slayer The Gift: When she dies and Spike is crying, I lose it Chosen: The entire ending scene. When the potentials are becoming slayers, the montage showing them becoming slayers. When she says I love you and Spike dies. I bawl my eyes out! ER Such Sweet Sorrow: I always, always cry when Carol shows up in Seattle to be with Doug. Happy Dance! Alias Don't know the name of the eppy, but when Vaughn "dies", I cried, because you know I thought he was "dead" LOL. I'm sure there are others but I can't think of them right now :D |
One Tree Hill: when Haley and Nathan are talking after winning the championship game, and Haley gets hit by a car. Then Lucas passes out at the same time, and both end up in the hospital: Lucas is unconscious, and Haley almost loses her baby. I cried forever!

ER: When Dr. Gallant dies
|
The Waltons
...every episode... but especially the one where Grandpa died |
ER: When Dr. Greene dies. Much of the filming was done here, and dammit, whenever they play IZ's "Over the Rainbow/What a Wonderful World" just turns the waterworks on.
Gilmore Girls: When Rory graduates from Chilton and gives her Valedictory speech Grey's: When Denny dies and Izzy's mourning thereafter Sesame Street: I recently saw a clip somewhere of the episode where Big Bird learns of Mr. Looper's (Hooper) death and I teared up. I was still a very young kid when this happened, but I remember it was the first time I learned about death. I think I was about 3 or 4 years old. |
ER: Dr. Greene's death. Also when Carole goes to find Doug in Seattle.
Lately I've been trying to catch up with Grey's and I'm watching episodes on dvd. I think I've cried twice so far. |
Pretty much every Grey's episode - well, not the new ones, but the Denny dying/George's dad dying episodes.
Now I also cry when I see the occasional TLC's A Baby Story - probably because my pregnant lady hormones are kicking, but also because I think that whole birthing thing is starting to worry me! :p |
ER: The episode where Dr. Greene dies. I love that version of "Somewhere Over the Rainbow."
Six Feet Under: Nate's funeral. Specifically, when they are burying him. I also cried when Nate buried Lisa. |
The last episode of Six Feet Under, especially the closing montage.
|
even though I've seen them all a zillion times...
Little House on the Prairie. |

Extreme Makeover: Home Edition. Every episode. I've just had to quit watching it because I don't want to be misty-eyed when Desperate Housewives starts.
|
ER: both the deaths of Dr. Gallant, and Dr. Greene. Also when Doug & Carol reunite.
I'll be adding more later, I'm sure! |
The Cosby Show's series finale
Different World
|
I forgot to add:
Friends: After Phoebe gives birth to the triplets, she has a moment with her babies and they all start crying. She replies with, "well...if you're gonna cry." WOW. |

I'm exactly the same way! |
ER - the funeral of Dr. Dr.Anspaugh's son, when Jeannie Boulet sings, "Good Riddence".
M*A*S*H - When Radar announces that Lt. Col. Henry Blake's plane was shot down, as he was headed to Toyko and home. Designing Women - 1) When Charlene has her baby, and the others end up in the room with an elderly black woman (Miss Minnie) marvels about everything she has seen in her lifetime: "....I thought as I got older, the bold outline of truth would be revealed to me, but it hasn't happened. When I was young, I was in such a hurry. And now, I've been here a hundred years. It seems like only yesterday I held my babies in my arms. I'm glad to be going home. It's been a long time since I've seen my family. And I wish for all of you, all the love and happiness I had in my life -- and I hope the world keeps going toward freedom. And I hope that people everywhere can learn to live together in peace. As my pappa used to say......we ain't what we should be, we ain't what we're gonna be, but at least we ain't what we were....." (and Miss Minnie slowly lays back as she gasps her final breath and passes on.) 2) When Suzanne's ex-husband, Dash Goff, gives the following soliloquy: "Yesterday, in my mind's eye, I saw four women standing on a verandah in white gauzy dresses and straw colored hats. They were having a conversation, and it was hot - their hankies tucked in cleavages where eternal trickles of perspiration run from the female breast bone to exotic vacation spots that Southern men often dream about. They were sweet smelling, coy, cunning, voluptuous, voracious, delicious, pernicious, vexing and sexing - these earth sister rebel mothers, these arousers and carousers. And I was filled with a longing to join them. But like a whim of Scarlett's, they turned suddenly and went inside, shutting me out with the bolt of a latch. And I was left only to pick up an abandoned handkerchief and savor the perfumed shadows of these women. These Southern women. This Suzanne, this Julia, this Mary-Jo and Charlene. Thanks for the comfort. " ---Dash Goff, the Writer (still waiting to hear Wrigley's favorite DW episode!) |
ER- All in the Family. The first time I saw that eppy I bawled my eyes out. It was so sad. Seeing Carter and Lucy flighting to live. Then Benton, who is usually so stoic, upset about Carter. Then Romano, at the end with Lucy, trying to save her and Corday saying she's gone. Then when Weaver comes in and he is stitching her up, so un-Romano.
CSI is making me cry but not in a good way. I'm sooooo incredibly sick of the whole Grissom and Sara secret romance. Gag me. I am seriously ready to cry over the stupidity of it. :) |
Extreme Makeover: Home Edition - Every single episode, gets me everytime. The families have some really sad stories (but also inspirational).
Intervention - I really feel for the addicts and their families. Some of the things that happen to those people that lead to their drug use is really sad to me. |

It is really sad thinking of the shows that make cry. That is because all it takes to make me cry is to see someone on tv crying at a really sad moment. I even cried during "Full House" when the Jesse's grandfather died and the whole family was crying. Bascially, when sitcoms get serious, I will get a lump in my throat.
Don't get me started on dramas. I could easily start bawling at any given moment. |
