5th graders having sex in school in Louisiana!

From freerepublic.com

(AP) SPEARSVILLE, La. -- Two fifth-graders had sex on a classroom floor while two others fondled each other in the classroom, according to a teacher at Spearsville High School in Louisiana.
Union Parish Superintendent Judy Mabry would say only that the allegations were being investigated; Principal Frank Futch said the incident was not indicative of how the school is run.
First-year teacher Michael Walker, who teaches fifth- through eighth-grade English, said three students were either expelled or sent to an alternative school and two others got detention.
Students at the kindergarten through 12th grade school are unruly, disrespectful and rarely disciplined, Walker said.
"They cuss at the teachers and throw things at them, and nothing is done," Walker said. "There was even one student who grabbed a teacher in the butt and nothing was done. The students run the school."
Walker said teachers learned Wednesday about the incident, which allegedly occurred during an assembly Tuesday to talk about a 15-year-old student accused of stabbing another student to death over the weekend.
The assembly was for sixth- through 12th-grade students. Fifth-grade students were not told about it, he said. But one class of about 15 fifth-grade students that routinely moves from a portable building to a main building classroom during the second hour of the school day was unattended on Tuesday.
"The teacher thought it was a normal day and sent the kids to second hour," he said. "She didn't know the teacher that would normally be in there was still at the assembly."
The students were alone for about 30 minutes.
Teachers began to hear rumors around school Wednesday and by the end of the school day, the students involved had confessed.
School officials notified the Union Parish Sheriff's Office on Thursday morning and detectives questioned students.
"This is one incident and everyone is making a big deal out of it," Futch said. "I never had a teacher complain to me, but I have heard them complain to each other." Sheriff Bob Buckley said charges are likely. "I have zero tolerance for drugs, violence or anything like that that goes on in school," he said.

That is sick and pathetic. I nearly lost my breakfast when I first read about it in my school's newspaper.

i don't think they should punished

that's what they get for their lack meaningful sex education

Excuse my lack of knowledge here. I always thought that pre-teen boys couldn't have sex because...well...their bodies aren't yet capable of sealing the deal or even getting to full salute. Is that true? And if this kid was able to achieve all that than I have to ask what are they feeding kids these days??? I just didn't think it was possible for boys until they were 12 or 13.

I have a student (in 1st) who will be 10 going on 11 in 5th grade. I have another student who will be 11-12 in 5th grade. Not knowing how old they are.

Where is the sex ed!!!!!! Where are the parents!!!! Where are the teachers!!!!!

They are in 5th grade! Girls are getting their periods as young as 9! Can you imagine a 10 year old knocked up!

I too thought that it wasn't possible for a boy so young to get a hard on and actually "maintain" the hard on.

Awesome, "how to use a condom" for ten year olds.

3rd quarter of my 9th grade year was devoted to Sex Ed. I went to Catholic school so it was incorporated in my Freshman Year Growing in Faith Course.

I remember watching The Miracle of Life and seeing a baby born for the first time. A week later, we watched a video of a lady getting an abortion. I know that the videos were meant to scare the shit out of us, and it did its job.

I don't know how much impact it would have on a 10 year old, though.

Sounds like they were doing just fine without it.

I was being sarcastic, but really do you think had they had sex ed of whatever kind you find meaningful they wouldn't have done this?

I tend to think it had more to do with a lack of morality and good sense, rather than sex ed.

And yes, unless it's okay to stay in an unattended classroom and have sex, they needed to be punished.

This is dumb but the location is Spearsville.

Perhaps there's a historical and genetic link with Britney Spears which would explain everything.

;)

Pretty sure they are able to have an erection and capable of having sex, it's just whether or not their ejaculate contains active sperm is the question.

So Boys get a hard on!

The idea is still Parental control.

There seems to be a lack of it any more!

Yes Tom, the whole issue here is that boys as young as 10 have a correctly functioning penis, not that they're using it in an adult manner in the middle of a crowded classroom. I love how you continually miss the point.
Oh and please, feel free to reply saying something about my signature because after all, this could be the post that makes me decide to change it.

I personally think you should add "So Boys get a hard on!"

I hope you get eaten by a lion.

A different way to put it would be that boys never don't get erections. From infants on up.

True, but when responding to Earp, sometimes you go with the basics.

If I remember my sex ed correctly they can have erections but not usually ejaculate until puberty. Whether these guys were pre or post pubescent I don't know.

Rudey 04-07-2007 03:29 PM

This is nothing. We were busy impregnating girls when I was 7. Oh wait, I came from a civilized society so maybe not.

:D Thank you James!:D Nothing against you at all!:)

It seems that some want to at times when it fits them and their thoughts is fine and PC correct!

Well, the male penis can erect at a young age because of the feelings of the mind.

Well, it happens does it not?

Kids today are becoming more grown up as we speak. Why, because they are being taught that way!

My first sexual experience was in the seventh grade if you do not count playing Dr. and nurse before then!;) :D

ASUADPi brought up a good point. I teach 8th grade and we have some students who have actually aged out of the system. There are several students in my class who are 16 already! They should be 13 or 14. It is quite possible that these 5th graders were older. There is a 6th grader who is 11 at my school and pregnant. I am not really sure what the solution is, but we definitely need to provide more classes geared towards sexual awareness or whatever.

RU OX Alum 04-12-2007 03:37 PM

um.......you need to help that girl

not saying be her savior, but uh.....yeah, you should help her

1908Revelations 04-12-2007 04:14 PM

I too think that guidance should be provided, but teachers are with the students only for a while. Yes, I think a lot of influence can be gained, but what about if there is nothing positive at home and in their peer group. WTF are the parents doing!?!?!?!?! Children need help from wherever they can get it, but our first forms of learning began at home. Parents should really get on their job!

When I was in 7th grade (12 years old) a girl became pregnant with twins. She dropped out of school but would bring the babies in to show everyone and it always horrified me to see people fawning over them. I mean, I understand everyone is interested in babies, but I couldn't believe it when teachers would make such a big deal over her twins but not even question if she was planning on returning to school or not.
She had another child in 8th grade, with a different guy. Haven't heard anything about her since.

Um...the news article gave the ages of the kids. We know how old they are.
