It's official . . .

I've called him my fiance off and on for a while now, we both wanted to get married, but we have been living paycheck to paycheck for the past year now. But over the weekend (saturday) I was surprised when Bryan got down on one knee and pulled out a engagement ring after dinner at our favorite restraunt and before going to see my favorite band (Dixie chicks) in concert. The sushi chef at the restraunt was so happy for us (we're his favorite customers) he got out an old dusty box and handed it to us, inside were 5 handcrafted japanese bowls. They were beautiful, but not as beautiful as my new engagement ring. I'm so excited! Anyway, I just thought I'd share the news.

LOL . . . Well, plans are already underway, the reception and ceremony sites (which are the same place) have been booked, I bought a gown about 2 weeks ago, I'm in the process of try to find bridesmaid gowns--I saw one for $420.00! Can you believe how much bridesmaid gowns are!!!! My WEDDING GOWN was only 475! It's absolutely rediculous. I've been to a florist, and bryan has picked out tuxes. We are well on our way!

Here's my gown if your interested:

WOO HOO!!! Congrats Mikki!! Here is the funny thing, just as I was reading this the Dixie Chicks were on 60 Minutes II!

If you have a Maurice's near you try them for bridesmaid gowns...one of my sisters did that and our dresses were mondo cheap. Try looking in department stores rather than the bridal shops.

Again CONGRATULATIONS & BEST OF EVERYTHING!!

CONGRATS Mikki!!!!!!!!

Your dress is absolutely GORGEOUS!!!! I bet you are gonna knock Bryan off his feet when he sees you in it! http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/biggrin.gif
Hey, take a pic of your ring! I wanna see, I wanna see!!! http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/biggrin.gif

mgdzkm433 10-25-2000 11:18 AM

LOL, thanks everyone, to those of you who asked, the dress came from David's bridal. It's a nationwide chain, and they have a website http://www.davidsbridal.com/ they have tons of great gowns. There's a pic of the ring on the web, but at the moment they are doing construction on their site. When it comes back up, I'll copy it and post it. I don't have a scanner, so I can't take a picture myself. Again, thanks everyone!

Congrats! Can you talk to my boyfriend so I can do this fun stuff too http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/smile.gif))

AXO Alum 10-27-2000 02:59 PM

That gown is fab - congrats again.

What are you guys going to do for the ceremony? I remember you saying you were a solidary witch...I hope I didn't get that wrong - I'm not sure what's PC these days so I'm really not trying to sound ignorant. I just love hearing how people incorporate their beliefs (especially from differing backgrounds) into their wedding ceremony. Especially since our wedding was my mom's show. I swear - I finally told her just to tell me what time to be there! Good luck and congrats again!

kmullini 10-29-2000 03:52 PM

Mikki,

Congrats to you and Bryan!

Kevin

mgdzkm433 10-30-2000 09:29 AM

AXO Alum,

We are having an outdoor Christian Ceremony basically. My family is unaware of my particular chosen path, so I'm not going to thow anything on them that might cause someone to have a heart attack. Being that I still practice Christianity as well, this is good for me. I am encorporating several things of personal value and belief. I'm wearing a celtic love knot necklace, a pentagram will be sewn to the inside of my dress, my flowergirl will be dressed as a faerie and thow faerie dust instead of flower petals. I chose outdoors to be closer to nature (which is one important factor in pagan religions), I also chose the date based on the fact it will be a full moon (and it will be an evening wedding). Bryan and I plan to have a private ceremony in late october or early Nov. next year. It will be a private handfasting (pagan wedding ceremony).

mgdzkm433 11-02-2000 10:27 AM

Ok, here's the ring!

That is really great - everything sounds beautiful. Your ring is awesome! Is it silver or platinum? Mine is platinum but its really dull already (and its only 1 1/2 years old). Oh well - as long as the "rock" keeps shining! (Yeah - right...more like pop rocks http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/smile.gif)

It's white gold actually. I told him not to even THINK about yellow gold. I never wear it. In my opinion black hair/fair skin women look better in silver than gold. Anyway, thanks everyone.
