SICK!

if you recall, there was a thread titled "DRUNK!" where we posted (as sober as we could) how drunk we were at the moment. i enjoyed that thread, and am disappointed at the lack of drunkeness GC has seen lately. but i digress...

anyway, since the search function hasnt brought me any results, in this thread we b!tch and moan on how sick we are. this includes anything from the common cold, a broken limb, anything that is sprained, dislocated, swollen or bruised, papercuts, bitten lips/tongues, migraines, which medicines are/are not working... or even if you're pretending to be sick and playing hooky :D ...

well you get it. i'll start with:

i'm sick. i felt the tingly in my throat last nite and knew today was gonna suck. plus the AC is on today (WTF ITS APRIL!) and i have an earache. today is not the day to be at work. this is BS.

your turn.

Senusret I 04-02-2007 11:09 AM

I expect to post in this thread often. :(

Generally speaking, I have a pretty bad post-nasal drip. Currently I have cold-like symptoms: runny nose, head congestion, cough. On Saturday I took a combination of medicines (DayQuil, NyQuil, Tylenol Head Congestion) and NOTHING worked. Yesterday, I took NOTHING and felt just as bad, if not a little better.

A mess! I can't tell if this is seasonal allergies or what!

Still BLUTANG 04-02-2007 11:31 AM

i broke my nail this morning. :(

So I found out my thyroid is enlarged and passed out in the lab this morning while they were drawing blood. I'm such a baby.

christiangirl 04-02-2007 01:16 PM

Actually, there's one that's been bumped down, I think it's called "the painful thread" where we talk about all the things that ail us....

But I last posted in that thread that my sinuses were hurting...now it's a full blown cold, complete with hocking up all sorts of weird, green stuff and losing my voice on Friday (which conveniently granted me an extension on a short story critique and an exam:D)

Glitter650 04-02-2007 01:24 PM

I feel like I have a splinter in my big toe, and everytime I step it HURTS... but when I was examining the offending area last night in the shower all I saw was this TIIIINNNY red area WTF ??!!!! WHY does it hurt SOOO bad ??!

AOIIalum 04-02-2007 03:28 PM

I have been sick for 2 1/2 weeks now, and after numerous prescriptions I think they've finally hit on the correct combo to kill this bug. Hopefully.

ADqtPiMel 04-02-2007 04:45 PM

23 is way too young to have arthritis. Boo.

kddani 04-02-2007 10:10 PM

i'm not sick, but the egg on my head hurts. F'in cabinet at work that I whacked my head off of today...

AlexMack 04-02-2007 10:15 PM

I have to get a bone scan on my foot because I might have a stress fracture. I had to beg a prescription from my doctor for vikes because it was throbbing so badly this evening.
Also I have an MRI tomorrow for my right knee looking for a meniscal tear that's not there. I should know-I have had the MRI done three times previously looking for the same thing.

ErinIsBadNews 04-02-2007 10:48 PM

I have blisters from new boat shoes. I hate breaking boat shoes in. :(

neosoul 04-02-2007 11:36 PM

is your knee really swollen around the knee cap area? i ask only because they thought my roommate had a meniscus tear as well (she's a dancer), and it actually turned out that the sacs of fluid were badly inflammed and she needs to do PT to strengthen the muscles - all triggered by falling on her knee cap one day in class. maybe that's what's going on with your knee too - hope it gets better though, i've watched her struggle because of the knee pain, it takes a lot out of you :(

Yeah after looking at the MRI and after cutting my knee open for my ACL surgery the dr. said he never saw meniscal damage. I know my knee pops and clicks a lot though. I think I have a floating kneecap or something.

No it's swollen through the entire joint. I'm taking celebrex twice a day for the inflammation. Last year I had a lateral release done (after a year of excruciating pain that no one would/could fix!) and they said that my kneecap had softened and there was a small crack in it. I don't know what they'll find this time. Personally what I feel is necessary is a hamstring tendon debridement. I know my knee and leg are weak. PT isn't going to get rid of the inflammation though, it just makes it worse. I know this through experience. I'm not ranting at you, just in general because doctors frustrate me.

AlethiaSi 04-03-2007 01:01 PM

i have been sick... since like November... earaches, sore throat, coughing.... i take antibiotics... things just come back... not to mention i've been throwing up on and off through out this time, my stomach is doing weird things and i keep getting their weird pains in my arms....

actually, not so. i had rheumatoid arthritis last year and it sucked like a motha! the doc says it can happen at any age because it tends to be brought on my stress, among other things. took some prednisone and it was gone.

p.s. my sickness has turned into an insane fever. i had to call out of work.

I have osteoarthritis. My mom was diagnosed at 20, so I'm sure heredity is playing a role in it. It sucks because I've always been a runner and I'm already having serious problems with my knees and back.

Sounds like what I have going on. My nasal passages were completely clogged up the other night. I've taken my allergy medicine and cold meds but nothing seems to be working.

No, but it's finally going away. Mild congestion, but I'm only blowing my nose 2-3 times a day now, instead of 20-30. :D

I swear I get this every year about this time. I have to take Allegra and usually antibiotics. Fortunately I'm getting a little relief from the pollen right now since the weather is so cold here (in the Ozarks).

Hmmm...my mom and I have been having the allergy/sinus infection argument for a week, it never occurred to me it could be both. I never had allergies until sophomore year. I was fine last year and now this year all hell broke lose. I kept taking cold medicine, but NOTHING worked, which is the same how it went sophomore year. *sigh* My body's so weird. *shrug*

not being able to speak really illustrates how important speach and language are to human society.

i still feel like ass, though

stupid weather. First it is 80, then 50, then I have a four hour karate test, then it snows, and my voice is gone

AlexMack 04-17-2007 03:23 AM

I threw up 4 times this evening after eating Indian food. This will teach me to order something really hot when I haven't eaten Indian food in awhile. Burns going down and coming up. What really sucked was the anxiety attack that went alongside it.

SydneyK 04-17-2007 11:08 AM

I don't know what this crud is that my hubby gave me, but I wish he'd've kept it to himself. As long as the kids don't get it, I'll be ok. But if I have to stay home and take care of me AND two sick kids, there'll be hell to pay.

I hear ya...I was diagnosed at 18. :( I feel for you!

I'm just finally getting over being sick. I went to Vermont for week and got home a week ago. Everytime I stay in a hotel room or fly I end up sick when I get home. Not fun!

Awww honey. Sorry to hear that. My husband was just sick throughout the holidays!!! It was the flu. I was sick prior to Christmas and got over it quickly--no flu shot.

Do you have a temperature? You should drink PLENTY of fluids and take a pain reliever like ibuprofen or acetometophin. If you cannot hold anything down or if you have diarrhea, go to the doctor. Either way, you need LOTS of liquids, such as water and Gatorade to replace the electrolytes lost.

Then, you need to rest by "swaddling" to sweat it out. And try some broth when you are ready to eat.

scbelle 01-04-2008 07:03 AM

I have a very stubborn cold. I've been coughing since before Christmas, and my head feels like it's going to explode. I'll have moments where I think I'm getting better, only to have them give way to moments where I think I'm getting worse. blech. And the drugs I have don't seem to be working. Maybe I should go to the doctor...

AGDee 01-04-2008 09:24 AM

I really wish people would stop coming to work as sick as they are. It's making me nuts. And yeah, now my sinuses are all congested.

summer_gphib 01-04-2008 09:28 AM

We are fighting red tide here, and I hate it. It makes you feel like you have a bad cold. And it's been here for over a month. I'm tired of coughing, sneezing, hacking, burning eyes... It even caused problems for my parents when they came down for Christmas.

DaemonSeid 01-04-2008 09:33 AM

I got a nasty case of that Anal Glaucoma kicking in today....
