Article on Delta Lambda Phi's growth.

Fastest growing is so subjective--in chapters, colonies, members? In any case congrats to them.

savvy88 03-29-2007 10:25 PM

that's so cool! some of the guys in one of the frats on our campus are homosexual, and the campus looks down upon them, and it's really sad! but props to those guys for breaking some stereotypes!!!

DSTRen13 03-29-2007 10:26 PM

They seem to have their stuff together. Congrats to them.

Symbal 03-29-2007 10:58 PM

We have a chapter at WVU, and I know one of the brothers, but they are so small. It's for openly gay and bisexual men, and there is still such a stigma. Their pledge class was all of three men, and one depledged because he did not think he could bring himself to openly wear the letters because of the stigma. Still, really nice guys. They do have it together.

KSUViolet06 03-30-2007 12:39 PM

My school has a Delta Lambda Phi chapter also. I'm not sure how many guys they have now (last I heard they had like 10). They never really participated in much on campus in terms of Greek events.

So he wasn't so "openly" afterall?

I so totally agree with you.

banditone 03-30-2007 08:21 PM

I agree also.

But if any of those white males families were immigrants at any time, then I think they should go back to their own damn country.

I agree with you, too.

Symbal 03-30-2007 11:40 PM

If I had to guess why they don't show themselves that much, it's because they are still in the process of establishing themselves. The grounds are still a little shakey.

And that said, all of those men I know in this fraternity are truly fraternity men.

Isn't the fraternity for openly gay and bisexual men? Being openly gay isn't part of the application process?

neosoul 03-31-2007 01:27 AM

Ladygreek are u being sarcastic? jes curious

It's also for "progressive" straight men. Kind of a Gay-Straight alliance sort of mentality.

It's normal for straight folks to have gay friends here and there...but being in a fraternity surrounded by them? I don't think we are going to see too much of that, no matter how progressive they are.

I wish them luck, I just hope none of the chapters have the issues we have in many APhiO chapters...where both straight and gay relationships get in the way of brotherhood.

Yeah I understand, though if they truly become the "anti-fraternity" on a campus that has a lot of stereotypical fraternity guys, I can see potential. I know several guys who never rushed because they didn't like the fraternity mentality on their campus. An alternative would have been nice.

Sadly the fact that many guys see "Gay" as a communicable disease or meaning that any gay man will be staring at the straight guys asses all the time means that you're likely right.

I wish them luck too.

sdsuchelle 03-31-2007 04:24 AM

I think it's awesome!

And oh man, wouldn't they be THE fraternity to have socials with?!

ISUKappa 03-31-2007 10:17 AM

There's a chapter at Iowa State (still considered a colony by IFC) that has 8-9 men, I believe. They participate in the same campus events all the other fraternities participate in (Greek Week, Homecoming, VEISHEA, etc..)

Senusret I 03-31-2007 11:51 AM

I say this every do often, but here goes again:

Good for them! But not for me. :)

This is a shame to say, but I really doubt that Delta Lambda Phi will ever really take off at WVU. I've been there, I have friends that go there, hell, my mom works there (at the hospital) and I can tell you for a fact the atmosphere is not supportive of alternative lifestyles.

You are more likely to see a rebel flag than a rainbow one.

I wouldn't date a man who is in a gay fraternity.

Slightly off topic

I find myself hella attracted to bi and gay men at times. I'm obviously in the minority. HC many women don't like to date bi men? Men like to date bi women :)...unless it's someone like PrettyBoy/KAY10, because he doesn't like "freaks".

I guess I'm weird too ... it wouldn't bother me a bit. My fiance is straight, but it wouldn't have been a dealbreaker for me if he was bi. Dealbreakers are things like lying, cheating, being generally an idiot, etc. Thinking guys are hot - that's okay, I do too :D

Sadly, I agree. :( I had a lot of gay/lesbian friends either take a look at the town and apply elsewhere, or transfer somewhere up north. WVU isn't all that bad, but if you fall somewhere outside the line, it just won't work.

This is something to add to my previous post.

1. I wouldn't date a man who is in a gay fraternity.
2. I wouldn't date a man who is bisexual, trisexual, or "reformed" homosexual. If you've ever tasted a penis or had yours tasted by a dude, don't try to holla at me.

Now, THAT one is a dealbreaker! Anyone who's claiming that title is just messed up.

KyleMcGuire1983 04-02-2007 09:05 PM

one word: Fabulous.

sorry....I had to

It can also be deceiving.

If you have ten chapters/members/colonies, and add one, you've increased by 10%

If you have one hundred chapters/members/colonies, and add one, you've increased by 1%.

All that being said, congratulations on the growth and good luck!
