Great Internet Stations While Working

Do you listen to the radio while you work? If so, list your station, the type of music and the website url here.

My favorite:
WNUA out of Chicago, smooth jazz, http://wnua.com/main.html

Yahoo has a music station as well (but you have to have a yahoo account).

Another one that is pretty good is 95.7 the Beat in Tampa. One of my friends does the old school lunch set . . . VERY GOOD! http://www.957thebeat.com

So funny becuase I'm listening to yahoo launch as I type this. I'm actually listening to the Motown Station right now :o but the Quiet Storm station is pretty good also.

I love Pandora and WPXN 88.5. Pandora plays music based on your artist/style/song preferences. So, one of my stations is John Legend. There I can listen to some John Legend songs, and lots more by artists whose music may sound like his. Pandora has introduced me to a great variety of new music! WPXN is UPenn's station. I love it because they feature a lot of new music as well. I dont think I've ever heard a curse, and we have it on at work all the time. I would classify their music as mostly pop, rock, and soul.

If anyone has XM Radio, you can listen online. Suite 62 is the one I like most. They play some old school r&b jams and some new james.

I listen to K-Love at work. Sometimes I'll pick a station from live365.com, yahoo, or accuradio.

I love yahoo launch. Like Proverbs31, I am listening to this as I type as well. I am actually a launchcast plus member with no commercials and unlimited skipping. I am listening to the quiet storm right now but most of them are pretty good. Love the gospel, adult R & B and today's R & B hits. Haven't tried the Motown station yet. Maybe I will try it out on Monday. :D

For the morning, I listen to Jim Rome sports talk through KLAC-AM in Los Angeles. You get it free w/o subscribing. I'm not one to pay for isht on the Net.

I'm a straightahead jazz fan during later hours of the day. I did listen to http://www.jazzandblues.org, but I don't like what's going on at KKJZ. Other good alternatives are KSDS-FM in San Diego and WBGO-FM (http://www.wbgo.org).

If I need hip-hop, I listen to a couple of Atlanta FMs that stream, Hot 107.9 and V-103.

Thanks for the Pandora recommendation! :D I started listening to it yesterday and I love the set up and the lack of commercials that interrupt my songs!

I listen to Rhapsody at work. It has a better selection of playlists than Yahoo Launch.

www.imeem.com

You can create your own playlists, and it's FREE!!!

I listen to www.motionfm.com to get my house music fix. :D

Neosoulcafe.com

For those of you who love soul/neo-soul like I do, definitely check out neosoulcafe.com. Great station to listen to while at work..hardly any commercials except for the quick interruption about downloading the latest podcasts. But the station definitely hips you to a lot of underground artists...since listening to it, I have picked up a couple of CDs, I would have never thought to.

jojapeach 03-21-2007 05:34 PM

This doesn't qualify as a website, but I visit a radioblog that has a new playlist every Wednesday.

ejflavors.com, has a great mix of hip hop, R&B, pop, Soul (best James Brown tribute), and more that you haven't heard in a while or have never had the pleasure of being acquainted with. You can even download a podcast or open up the player in a separate window. Matter of fact, he has at least three years of music catalogued.

DISCLAIMER: I don't know the guy. I just found him after reading someone else's blog.

I listen to VH1 radio. I like the Neo Soul and Progressive Soul stations.

I was coming to rave about Pandora, but guess who is already on the case?! None other than my music guru Soror SoulfulRemix! LOL!

Pandora has put me onto ALL types of new folks. This is a WONDERFUL station. I hope that it remains free. It's, by far, the best internet radio that I have come across.

The only issue that I have with some (free) internet radio stations is that you are limited in the number of times that you may skip songs in a certain range of time. The thing I love about Pandora though is that if I don't like something and I mark it as something I don't like, it's cuts off instantly and moves to the next song and it doesn't count against you.

This is a great station to listen to when you are up typing papers and whatnot at 2:30am. And it will be with me every step of the way as I study these next few days.
