Spring Initiations
OK, lets hear those initiation reports! I went this weekend and had the
privilege of seeing 20 new brothers at Kappa-Omega (Georgetown) enter the bond! I think that puts them at 64 actives, and just over 1300 initiates since 1928. |
STLCOP has one.
Our school only allows fall recruitment - so we just have one for the spring semester... At least it won't take 12 hours like last semester when we had 15! This one brings us up to 45 actives. |
Nice job guys. Coming from a traditionally small greek school, it always amazes me on how some get 20-50 recruits.
We had an average of 17 brothers for a chapter size through our 90 year history. I think the most we ever had in recent history was 40-45, and that was for one year only, probably a fluke where some people stayed an extra year or two. Our school average was right around 20. So when you talk about recruiting 20-30 people, you are more than doubling some chapters!!! |
Northern Colorado Spring Ritual
UNC will hold spring Ritual 4/20 (Friday) evening at a church in Evans - 5 men going through.
PM me if interested in attending and I'll give you specifics on location and time... |
Pi Iota has added another 6 this year.....we only have Spring Initiation and we did ok, I think that puts us at the 61 mark and we have only been chartered for 2 years.
|
WOW, fantastic job a Pi Iota!
Trey, you Brothers are doing great!:) |
I was one of 17 initiated last fall and we are initiating 4 this semester... 54 actives now?
17 was the biggest associate class we've had in awhile since our house had trouble and we are finally building back up winning first at the last 2 major greek events! |
Last weekend I had the pleasure of watching 7 men initiated at Epsilon Mu (Univ. of Florida). This brings the chapter up to 85 men and total initates to around 1885. Next semester should see our 2000th initiate.
In addition to myself we had a number of distinguished guest including John G, Doc Smith, Doc Dirghalli, Ed Leonard, Daniel Shouse, Tony Dunn, and Andrew Holcomb. |
2000 is a number to be very proud of.
The last man GZ initiated was 1,500. |
Brothers,
Zeta-Upsilon initiated six new members last Friday. We now have 17 Actives and 2 AMs. We will be doing a Spring Rush in hopes of picking up 2 or 3 more AMs. Yours in ZAX, Mike Raymond' ZUZAA |
Doc, I'm a little confused. you have 17 actives and 2 ams after initiation? Are the 2 holdovers?

2000 is a milestone that is unbeleivable! I hope you reach it soon and be very proud! Does this include TKN? Mike, how does this compare to the other GLOs at Un. Miami Oh? Good to see us back on campus! |
Yes, it includes TKNs but we aren't sure how the numbering etc. went. That part of our history has been "lost."

No, we are doing continuous recruitment. The two AMs have not gone through their associate member period. They have all the proper qualifications; they just have not gone through the required "education" period. They were brought in too late to be initiated now. They will be initiated, along with any new AMs we get this Spring, at the start of the next school year. We will do continuous recruitment next school year too. This means that our Colony will non-stop recruit upper class men in the Fall and all eligible students in the Winter and Spring. Most chapters at Miami do very limited recruitment in the Fall, their heavy effort is in the Winter, with no recruitment in the Spring. We can't follow that schedule and build a strong Zeta. We are looking for quality men at all times. We are small in numbers right now, but the continuous recruitment approach is netting us some outstanding men. I hope that this helps explain our situation. Yours in ZAX, Mike Raymond |

Brother Tom,
We are very small at this time. Just laying the foundation for a strong return! There are 26 active fraternities on campus. About 30% of our undergraduates are in a fraternity or sorority. It is a very old and traditional fraternity system. Lots of legacies and wealthy patrons. A million dollar gift from a fraternity Alum to our Greek Affairs Office is just one example. Our big Chapters are Beta Theta Pi and Kappa Alpha Order with over 130 members each. Lambda Chi Alpha is at number 24 in the line-up. But, not for long! I would guess that the average fraternity has about 70 members. Of course, our sororities are huge with a number of them with 175 members or more. Our campus has all kinds of monuments, memorials, traditions, and events that are part of our Greek heritage. Someday we will even have a Greek Letter Society Museum on campus! I hope this answers your question. Yours in ZAX, Mike Raymond, Z-U Zeta |
Thanks Doc,
My school didn't have continuous recruitment, so it seemed a little odd to me. At Umass, about 75% of the recruits were in the Fall semester, and the rest during Spring. Now that I look back on it, we really only had 2-3 weeks to recruit! Pretty much by late September, eveything was done. |

The very best of luck. It is a great school and We should be there of course! Maybe in answer to GammaZetas point, Recruitment should never stop! We used to have Major recruitment in the Fall Semester, but Spring Semester was not forgoten like it is today!:( It should be an on going process! |
I agree Tom, recruitment should never stop.
I guess we just followed the campus traditions. I think it is a good idea to have several classes of AM's come out of one semester, even dividing a whole semester into two sections. |
Ep-Xi and Ep-Om numbers
Epsilon-Xi Zeta at Florida Southern College recently initiated 7 new brothers (one being a holdover from last semester), which brings the total initiates to about 1025ish...with the current chapter around 40ish.
Epsilon-Omega Zeta at University of Miami (FL) hopes to initiate 10 associate members in Mid April. After that initiation, the total chapter count should be at 1540ish...with the current chapter at 50ish. On a side note, anyone who's interested in visiting us in Miami for initiation on the 14'th of April can email me and we can set it up. We'd love to have you. Yours in Z A X , Chris Hall |
Case Wester Reserve University
The Alpha-Nu Zeta is going to be initiating 5 new members on April 6. This will put our actives at about 30. Our I-Week is backed right up to greek week, so we have our work cut out for us.

Alpha Zeta Numbers
Hey,
We here at Alpha Zeta initiated 9 new members on March 31st. That brings our current active number up to 27 and we will hopefully keep growing from there with the return of two abroad brothers in the fall and only losing 5 seniors to graduation. |
Sorry to crash.... TOM, if you go to the following link you can see all kinds of stats about Greeks at Univ. of Miami Ohio. They take there GLO's and statisics very seriously.

Appreciate the heads up shaun!
Come over and visit with us anytime!:D WOW, just checked the link and have never seen this big a spread on Greeks for any campus that I have checked. Most, you have to dig to find if can! Also in checking, I find it has not been updated since 2005! Sad! Add a rebuilding effort by LXA. |
Take Another Look!

Take another look. Click on Fall 2006 for information as of December, 2006! Also click on the Sorority 2007 link for 2007 Rush information. The Fraternity stuff has not been released yet. The Miami University Greek Affairs Director, Steve Dealph, is a Lambda Chi. He has been a major player in our return to campus. Yours in ZAX, Mike Raymond, Class of 1967 Miami University |
Thanks Mike, I will go back and check it.
But, I see on their main site that was linked above, it does not list LXA nor the link in seaching does it list LXA. At the bottom of the page is shows 2005 as last update.. That is where I got that.:) At least there is a Brother or two in LXA Corner!:D |
They're in good hands...Brother Steve Dealph (Phi-Xi/Southern Indiana) is in charge of Greek Affairs.
