This guy wants to eliminate Greeks at Texas Tech...
If you are at Texas Tech, there is someone running for the student body president who is using an anti-Greek platform as his focus. Please post this on your GLO forum. A friend in Lubbock sent this to me.
"Look what I just found online in the student newspaper at Texas Tech!! Philip Pride CLASSIFICATION: Junior MAJOR: Latin American and Iberian studies HOMETOWN: Alice DESIRED POSITION: SGA President PLATFORM: Philip Pride is campaigning to create social equality within the student body by eliminating the Greek system." |
What a loser.
By alienating the Greek system, he's losing a lot of votes. I don't think he stands a chance. |
Who cares?
|
Anybody who thinks that "social equality" is possible is, at best, delusional.
|
I wonder if he was a reject who didnt receive any bids?

social equality? Hasn't he been paying attention in history class? Communism and socialism look pretty on paper, but they don't work in real life.
And ummm, the Greek System at Tech is pretty decent... I'm guessing if it is anything like my UG, the majority of voter turnout are the Greeks. And if eliminating the Greek System is the primary goal of his platform, he has missed much larger social issues relevant to the student body and their needs. So... uhh good luck. |
this guy sounds like a Che Guevara wannabe assclown pinko. He won't win.
|
Even if he did win, I'm not so sure a student body president with that agenda could do anything. Generally speaking, the student legislative bodies are absolutely dominated by Greeks.
If anything, if Tech has procedures for impeachment, he'd be a likely candidate. |
LOL what a freak!
I don't know about Texas Tech, but I'm on the elections committee at my school and a huge percentage of the vote comes from greek organizations. He doesn't stand a chance. |
They should get together and eliminate him.:p
|
Can we eliminate the GDI? :p

Yep. Everybody knows that the greeks are the ones who are involved on campus and actually care about who is representing them in the student government. I'm on SGA actually, and I had the second highest number of votes for council position, due to my campaigning within the greek community. At my school, greeks dominate the ballots more than non-greeks. |
|
That guy looks like a tool.
|
OH NO Social Inequality exists! SHOCKING! There's a "popular" group!
Ideal world=everyone being friends and hanging out with everybody. This does not exist. My school was the same way with Greeks dominating the student government. Although your whole ticket didn't have to be greek, if you had at least one fraternity and one sorority member you could be ok... if the other tickets had less than that. |

The senators from different schools or residence halls were perhaps less likely to be Greek (particularly Res. halls. Res. Life people were as into res life as greeks were into greek life) but still a good chunk were. |
Social equality?! With this guy wanting to be the elite SGA president? Yes, because some people are more equal than others.
|
Wow.

At SDSU, its not even that you win student government positions because you're greek... 90% of the people who run for elections are greeks. There just aren't any independent students who sign up.
