BABELSUSA 02-08-2001 06:28 PM

did you know about Sigma ALpha?

Billy Optimist 02-08-2001 07:16 PM

I saw a set of Delta Phi Alpha letters Will Farrel was wearing on a SNL skit.

prdlocal 02-19-2001 06:03 PM

Hey BABELSUSA, no offense, but aren't you a academic greek organization? I thought I caught in a another strand that you were in an agricultural sorority. I think she was referring to the social organizations.

Hey local sororities, how come you never mention my local chapter -- Alpha Sigma? http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/smile.gif

BABELSUSA 02-19-2001 11:13 PM

prdlocal---What is it with everyone and saying "no offense" all the time. If you know its going to sound that way....nevermind. Anyway, yes we are social. We are the only professional and social sorority in the nation. If you want to know anymore, I would write it, but I dont have time right now...thanks. "No offense taken??" http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/rolleyes.gif

prdlocal 02-26-2001 05:05 PM

I'm sorry, I had forgotten I had already given you information! It is outdated, but I'll have to find out the new information. We'll also have a web site soon. Woohoo!

ChiPiSandi 03-06-2001 02:18 PM

Hey, I just wanted to add a local sorority to your list! Chi Delta Pi is a new local being started at the University of Toledo in Ohio. We're just getting off the ground, but everything's going great so far!

Local,
Hey! Just checking out your site listing of the locals! Wow! One thing though...our sorority's email address has changed. Our sorority, Iota Beta Chi, has a new email that is: iotabetachi@hotmail.com. If you could change that it would be great!

Thanks!

This site is cool too....just heard about it from my sorority sister (Lots-a-heart).

I don't know if you know of these local sororities, but Bloomsburg University in Pennsylvania has 5 local sororities (soon to be 4 from what I hear because one is going Theta Phi Alpha):

Chi Sigma Rho, Chi Theta Pi, Delta Epsilon Beta, Phi Iota Chi and Theta Tau Omega

They also have three recognized and two unrecognized local fraternities:

Beta Sigma Delta, Delta Omega Chi, Sigma Iota Omega, Gamma Epsilon Omicron (previously Delta Chi, but got the boot for a new member dying of alcohol poisoning)and Theta Chi Alpha (previously Theta Chi, but got the boot for getting busted way too many times having keg parties by the police).

BronxZete 06-01-2001 03:53 PM

A local at Marist is kappa Lambda Psi

UF brat 08-02-2001 09:33 PM

I am in Sigma Phi Alpha which is a group of girls at UF. We don't really consider ourself a sorority but do refer to each other as sisters and are a girl only group. We do have a rush and pledge classes so I guess we are like a sorority. We started when Uf banned the Little Sisters program. We have girls that are in National Sororities in our group too. I am actually planning to rush to be in a National Sorority this fall.

A good friend of mine is a member of Zeta Sigma Phi from USC. ZetaKris, is your organization the same or does it just share the same name?

HeavenslilAngel 12-09-2001 10:25 PM

My sorority is local hopefully getting ready to go national at Northwestern State University of Louisiana. It's called Kappa Delta Sigma. We were founded January 19, 2001. I'm in the process of creating a website for KDS.

I KNOW that I saw a website last year for a local multi-cultural sorority, I think it was in NC, called Omicron Nu Theta. Can anyone give me a link to that?

Thanks :)

Yep

You're right. That's it. I have a multi-race student who is engaged to a young man of yet a different race. She was talking to me about college, and Greek organizations came up. She said that she didn't want to join a "black" or "white" sorority. She wanted to find one with girls like herself. I told her to do her research on NPHC, seriously consider NPC Rush, and also look at the multi-cultural sororities. She was amazed to learn that there were groups for girls just like herself. I thought about this one, and wanted to give her the link so she can look into it herself.

XO_Princess 02-04-2002 04:43 PM

There are 3 local fraternities on my campus: Phi Chi(which is coed), Alpha Kappa Kappa and my favorite, Phi Beta Pi.

Dianne 02-20-2002 03:31 PM

Some more to add to the list:

Zeta Delta Phi (which my older sister was a member of) and Alpha Sigma Pi at Belmont Abbey College in Belmont, NC (near Charlotte). I know there are one or two other local sororities there, and a few local fraternities, but I can't remember all the names. There's only one national on campus and it's DTD.

Sigma Alpha is not a local sorority. It is a national professional agriculture sorority. If you need info on it check out the national website. www.sigmaalpha.org

I am in Gamma Xi Delta at URI. It was started in September 08 by a small group of girls and we already have a little over 30. We're still just a colony but we will be voted on within the next few weeks, wish us luck!

Good luck!! Are you the only local and how many other sororities are on campus now? I went to URI when Rho Psi Delta became a colony for Phi Sigma Sigma, the 8th NPC on campus. (not 8th of all time... there were 7 active NPC's on campus before they became a colony/chapter...)

Their group is trying to get AXiD back on campus, they left in the middle of this decade. Besides that they have the same groups as when you are there except Alpha Phi was chartered 10 years ago (my chapter) and ZTA is taking over a local ZETA that was formed around 2003 this semester.

DoOrDie 03-08-2010 05:07 PM

hey ladies - i'm new to this site and just stumbled upon this thread...

My orginization is Kappa Phi Sorority..... we were founded at Sacred Heart University in 1993 and became incorporated in 2008. The university introduced National sororities to our greek life program in 2009 and greek life exploded - it went from approximately 25% membership to 80% membership in the span of two semesters. Nearly all of the other chapters chose to affiliate with an NPC/IFC org. We remain one of the two locals on campus (out of 10 orgs. total) with 17 members and an alumni base of over 300.

Recently our school has been attempting to force us to go national and colonize with an NPC. My sisters and I love our letters and what they represent dearly - so we are fighting a very difficult battle to stay local for as long as we can. We have just been brought back onto campus after a 5 month suspension after an alleged "hazing" incident........and now we are really working with the SHU administration to get ourselves restablished and back on track with our pillanthropy work and recruitment. To do this we have looked at possibly expanding to other schools and forming more chapters....has anyone done this? Does anyone have any advice?

Here is our website : www.shukappaphi.com if anyone would like to check us out. And please add us to the local list! I am so happy to have found this site and to reach out to other groups in the area :)
