TV Show Reruns

Which cancelled TV shows do you find yourself watching in re-runs?

It's 1:00am here, and I'm watching the first season of Dawson's Creek (on Noggin of all channels), which I originally watched as a college sophomore. I can't believe I'm watching MRS. TOM CRUISE on my screen. Gawd.

The Brady Bunch on TVLand. Shut up, don't laugh.

Daria on the N! Old School Degrassi on the weekends.

The usual Nick at Nite staples -- Roseanne, Fresh Prince, Designing Women, but most especially THE COSBY SHOW.

Once in a while I'll catch episodes of Growing Pains on PAX (the Christian channel).

They used to have Family Ties on the Hallmark Channel, but I haven't seen it there recently.

PeppyGPhiB 01-27-2007 05:33 AM

I still love the Brady Bunch. Every time I think I've seen all the episodes, I'll catch a new one.

I also watch Growing Pains, Golden Girls, Roseanne, old school Family Feud and Love Connection when I see them on. I love GSN and TVLand! I do wish Family Ties would come back...that was a good, good show.

Golden Girls
Buffy the Vampire Slayer
I Love Lucy

Fresh Prince was never cancelled. It just ended because of Will Smith's film career. I am just saying. I am in a nit picky mood.:)

Well excuuuuuuuse me!

Perhaps PeppyGPhiB should edit her post to accurately describe the TV shows that are no longer in production -- you know, to make the nit pickers happy?

Oh brother. I guess I should have known better than to mess with you. I was joking around, hence the smiley face. I just felt like saying what was on my mind. I guess I overstepped my boundaries. I will know better next time.

PeppyGPhiB 01-27-2007 07:21 PM

Um, I believe that would still be considered cancellation. Cancellation occurs for several reasons, one being the stars of the show being unwilling to re-sign contracts, for which reason the producers may decide to stop producing it.

smiley21 01-27-2007 07:31 PM

Fine, then I stand corrected. I look at 'cancelled' as having to do with a show that has low ratings. But whatever.

tld221 01-27-2007 07:35 PM

getting back on-thread...

im all for Nick at Nite shows. i'll watch GSN at nite sometimes (i love game shows)

also all the "must-see TV" shows of the 90s (ie. Friends, Frasier, Seinfeld, Mad About You, Just Shoot Me, ok you get the idea)

while i couldnt do it before, i can stand to sit through Family Matters, Full House and Step-by-Step (the old TGIF) now, but at minimum, like 2 episodes max. otherwise i get all weird.

With the Cosby Show, Full House, and other TV shows of the late 80s-early/mid 90s, I've come to realize that I enjoy the earlier episodes more than I do the later ones that lead up to the finales.

Take for instance, the Cosby Show. Loved it loved it loved it when Rudey couldn't even write. Couldn't stand her when she grew up.

Same with Michelle on Full House.

And all this time I thought I was the only grown-up addicted to Spongebob.

Sometime in February or March, this becomes part of Nick at Nite or at least there will be a week long marathon.

I love to watch Boy Meets World. This came on when I was in college and I did not catch it regularly but I try to watch it on the weekends.

Other shows include:

Family Matters
Full House
Cosby Show
Roseanne
Living Single
Mama's Family (Tuesday evenings on CMT)

I saw it advertise on tv that the marathon was starting Jan. 21st. but that did not happen, so I checked online. It is suppose to come on Feb. 12. At least that is what I read.

I love Boy Meets World! I have it on every morning while getting ready for work.

Other rerun favorites include MASH, Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Brady Bunch (and I watched it in 1st run ), Bugs Bunny/Looney Tunes, The Jetsons and Little House on the Prairie. Yes, Little House on the Prairie.

KatieKate1244 01-28-2007 12:07 AM

Gilmore Girls (well, it's not canceled, but I only got into it recently and want to catch up)
Golden Girls
Full House
Roseanne
Home Improvement
The X-Files, which I live for, and if I had the money, would buy on DVD

jitterbug13 01-28-2007 12:55 AM

Golden Girls
The Nanny
Desining Women (do watch a lot of Lifetime)
Everybody Loves Raymond
Cosby Show
Different World
Unsolved Mysteries (on Lifetime Real Women)
Living Single

At the library I work at, we offer a lot of shows on DVD. We have shows that are still on (24, Seventh Heaven), canceled (Star Treks, All In The Family) and British shows (Are You Being Served). One of our most popular: Little House on the Prairie. We got a new show yesterday: Hee Haw. :confused;

BTW, Family Ties is coming out on DVD next month to commerate the 25th anniversary of the show. :)

yeah... it was so annoying. Family Matters was like that to me... when Laura and Steve got older, it got embarassing to watch cause they were grown ass.

oh i NEVER get sick of Boy Meets World! one of my faves. it does go in my record as one of the weakest series finales. its last season got real annoying, cory and topanga's relationship got really sugary and not to be a prude, but there was a lot of sexual innuendo that was out of place for a family drama, esp for the mid90s.

I got my dad hooked on it and he's 65.

My mom still doesn't get it. :)

Sister Havana 01-28-2007 02:29 PM

SEINFELD. Still one of the best shows on TV.

tinydancer 01-28-2007 08:50 PM

I never watched Frasier when it was new. It comes on around midnight here and I've become a fan. That little dog is so smart.

DaffyKD 01-28-2007 09:12 PM

When Nick at Night first come on, it was on they had the old shows from kidhood. Loved it when I watched the old black and white shows where mom never wore pants, the house was always spotless, the kids had problems that Mom and Dad ALWAYS were able to take care of in less than 30 minutes.

Hazel
Donna Reed (the little girl was in my sister's class)
Leave it to Beaver (who in the world would nickname a kid Beaver, and who in the world would let the other kids call him Beaver when he got past 1st grade)
Mr. Ed (written by the father of my 3rd grade sweetheart)

Love watching re-runs of Mash. That was a biggie for us to sit in the house and watch it together. The night Henry Blake died, you would have thought one of our sisters died the tears were flooding the house.

I mostly find myself watching reruns of 90210, The Nanny and Ned & Stacy - god I love TV Tropolis - best thing to happen to Canadian TV, in my (humble) opinion.
