Cool beans!

Thanks for the 411, soror! I haven't watched Survivor in years, but this certainly piques and rekindles my interest! :)

AKA2D '91 01-14-2007 12:36 PM

I've not ever really watched the show. Now, I guess I'm going to have to.

GO ERICA!

EssenceofElle55 01-14-2007 02:52 PM

I love that this Soror mentioned Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated in her bio. I can't wait to see her in action and I wish her good luck.

I read the general cast list and was intrigued to see 3 contestants on this season who hail from Louisiana.

Congrats to your Soror!

This was just an article on Charlotte.com that just listed names, professions and cities of origin because one of the contestants is from Wilmington, NC. I read it to see what other cities and states were represented and how would the teams be divided this time around.

You all as an org clearly have your favorite.;)

I think I'll record Survivor so that I can watch Ugly Betty.

icebrAKA 02-08-2007 10:56 AM

She's from Lake Charles............I might have to see who her people is! We might be related:D

Obsession8 02-15-2007 09:57 PM

*Cry, sniffle, sniffle*

Soror Erica was just voted off as the 2nd castaway this season. :(

Dionysus 02-15-2007 09:59 PM

Hells no! They just HAD to vote a black woman out! She was really cute. :(

AKA2D '91 08-22-2007 10:32 AM

uh-oh.. she describes herself as "sassy and outspoken".. she better reign that in if she expects to go far in Survivor..

CrimsonTide4 08-22-2007 01:14 PM

Hey, her birthday is the day before mine! I see she went to the same schools as Skee. Wonder if they know each other?

Good luck to her!

Little32 09-20-2007 10:12 AM

I wonder if her twin is a soror too. We had a set of twins that were sorors at my alma mater. I always thought that was so cute.

I think survivor should have an AKA Alliance. :D

Good Luck to both of the sorors. :)

AKA2D '91 09-20-2007 10:16 AM

There is only one soror competing on this new season of Survivor. The other soror competed previously.

Little32 09-20-2007 10:26 AM

Oh, I didn't realize that. I don't really watch the show.

Well good luck to the most recent Soror Survivor. :)

AKA2D '91 10-02-2007 10:09 PM

Soror Charisma Sweat, Alpha Theta alum and immediate past Miss GSU, will compete on BETs "Sunday Best". The premiere was tonight.

Good luck, Soror!

MeezDiscreet 10-03-2007 09:07 AM

She can SAAAAANG!!! Speaking of the show, I felt like a lot of talented but older contestants were passed over. I also wonder how the auditions went with them having a pre-determined number os slots to fill. After they found the 5, did they tell the others to go home?

And don't forget Soror Shameika on CMT's "I Want to Look Like a Cheerleader Again." It begins on October 6th.

From an email...

It is such an honor to announce the Television Debut of our very own Soror Lauren, with her CSUN degree in Interior Design, Lauren debuts her impeccable design sense on TLC’s TRADING SPACES. The season is set to start October 6th, and her first episode is set to air October 20th on TLC. I believe it is at 7pm on the west coast, and 10/9 central everywhere else, check your local listings.

Please spread the good news and be sure to check out the show. Soror Lauren’s family legacy consists of more than 21 Sorors, so needless to say Trading Spaces will be getting a good dose of P&G this season.

IF YOU COULD CHANGE ONE THING ABOUT THE WAY YOU LOOK, WHAT WOULD THAT BE?
The one thing I would change would be the texture and length of my hair.
a bit disturbing, no?

anyhow, I'll be looking out for Soror Charisma on Sunday Best....I saw the ad earlier this evening

AKA2D '91 10-08-2007 08:30 AM

Speaking for 'self ...

Nope

ETA: Soror Charisma has changed her "look" since she was Miss GSU last SY. She cut the hair (and probably the perm)and colored it.

Little32 10-08-2007 10:43 AM

@nachural: I think the question is more problematic than her response. It's just a dumb question.

nachural 10-08-2007 11:42 PM

that question was asked of Soror Ivy not Soror Charisma.

But I agree Soror, they should have asked what she wants to improve on about herself, her weakness etc. That question was shallow. Nonetheless, I don't like the idea of black women wanting to change the texture of their hair, I equate it with the color of their skin. And why would you want to change that ;)

I gathered as much. I guess I should post twice when I have 2 different comments. :shrug shoulders:

Soror Ivy's comment was not disturbing to me. I can kind of see how others might take offense to it. However, as her co-initiate, I know firsthand how she has personally struggled with her hair. Both of us had decided to get rid of our perms and go natural at one point. She didn't end up sticking with hers because she found her natural hair hard to manage. I didn't which is why I am still au naturale :D. I think the root of the problem with us (black women) and our hair stems from our inpatience or unwillngness to manage our hair.

I threw away the creamy crack and will never go back (~4 years, sisterlocks newbie 2 months today!).

Congrats on going and staying natural soror. I know that it is a difficult process. (I have been natural all my life, so I have not experienced it.) Tell your co-initiate ;) that her GC sorors are checking for her.

Soror on "Deal or No Deal"

The contestant tonight is Soror Demetres Boyd! Soror Boyd is from the Houston, Texas area and she graduated last year.

I apologize for posting this so late (I'm watching DOND!). But if you don't catch it tonite, it will repeat probably tomorrow evening or later in the week on CNBC.

Little32 12-07-2007 09:45 PM

I have watching. I want her to take the next deal they offer. She needs to take that $65,000.

I am getting emotional in here.

When the Soror in the audience was yelling at her and crying for her to take the money I got a little misty too. Soror Demetres' is one daring lady.
