Hmm I like Chris Rock but I am not sure if I want to see a movie about him cheating on his wife...

tld221 12-30-2006 05:30 PM

yeah i dont really see any plot. chris rock has the "perfect" life, but hes bored, so he gets his swerve on and then realizes that all he needs is really at home.

im gonna pass.

I saw the trailer last week. My sister, who is married (17+ years) says she would like to see it. :smirk: I guess it's a married person's thing. :D I thought the title was a bit much. But, hey, wasn't he and his wife supposedly filing for divorce? I guess it's art imitating life.

I'll wait for the DVD.

UMMMMMM

its DEFINITELY not a married person's thing..lol:D

It is ABSOLUTELY a married person's thing! :D

Def want to see this movie!!!!!!!!!!!

It looks pretty hilarious, and I think lots of married or long term couples can relate to getting a little bored and noting that the grass seems a little greener.

20PearlGirl 01-14-2007 02:22 AM

His wife needs to ahead and start filing the papers. He can't say it any plainer. Po' thang LOL:(

The commercials for this are starting to air pretty regularly. It looks like it'll have some funny parts. It's just hard to be ok with laughing at someone's infidelity.

DSTKellie 03-24-2007 06:42 PM

I saw the movie. It was poorly done. Chris made my skin crawl in some scences. Overall i didnt like it.

actually it wasnt as bad as i thought. i saw it as a special screening (free!) and Chris was there talking about making the movie (he also directed and wrote) and how especially important it was for people to see it so it will stay in the theatre, because "we" need more positive films (comedies he meant) about "us." that we didnt always have to be the loud talking, head bobbing with attitude over the top funny like Head of State. pretty much he said he was tired of doing those kind of movies and that the only comedy he's doing is his stand-up.

plus the movie is loosely based on an old french movie, i think its called "christine in the afternoon?" so he wanted more of a drama storyline.

would i watch it again? nah... would i buy it on DVD? nah not collection worthy. but it was different for hom

I thought it was good. It's just shows how much trouble a man can get in if he's not faithful to his wife.

eduakator 03-25-2007 03:20 PM

My hubby and I watched it on Friday. It was OK and something you can take your kids to see with a plot. Besides I was supporting a AA movie, also.

1908Revelations 03-27-2007 03:58 PM

I liked it....no it wasn't the best....but I liked it.

risingstar 03-28-2007 03:04 PM

My husband and I saw it a couple of weeks ago. It was okay at best. I thought some points of the movie were funny. It was a little unrealistic to me though.

christiangirl 03-28-2007 09:58 PM

I didn't think I'd like it from the commercials, but I did. It was hilarious in parts and stupid in others. I don't like Chris Rock, but I gave it a chance....I think by having low expectations, instead of being disappointed, I was pleasantly surprised.

But when a couple of white girls sat next to me, I very discreetly moved up next to a black family the row above me. They looked surprised to see me move right when the opening credits started, but when I quietly explained that I didn't think I could properly enjoy this particular movie sitting next to two white girls, they welcomed me to the row.;)

BlessedOne04 03-28-2007 10:03 PM

This movie was funny until that bootleg end. The leading women in the movie were stunning!!!

HC you didn't want the white girls sitting next to you? Were they hushing you because you were being annoying (i.e. talking at the screen) or something? LOL

LOL! Yeah, they were sighing and sniffing at the people who were talking to the screen, so I know I made the right choice.:) Also, before the movie even started, they were already going back and forth with the "Ohmigod, this is like so much fun! Do you think this is gonna be like any good?" etc. I was at the movies to have a good strong laugh (that day, I needed it REAL bad), so I felt like if I'm going to be cracking up or screaming "Oh hell naw" I needed to at least sit near some people who weren't going to be saying "Like, I don't get it?" ;)

DSTKellie 03-29-2007 12:26 AM

I think the idea of the movie could have been better but like I said before it was poorly done, some things didn't add up.

For instance this gorgeous (skanky dressed) girl hasn't seen Chris in 8 years and all of sudden she wants him and needs him for everything in her life.

His wife was amazing! But his only reason why he was unhappy was because he was bored (which by the way was he fault because he was a boring person)

Then he complained that his wife didnt want to have sex with him but his wife was beautiful and he looked well....a hot ass mess.

I guess what irriated me in the movie was not so much the actual movie but Chris Rock's character. there it is.

You said it! He looked a hot mess and is it just me or was he holding his mouth like he had snuff in his lip the entire movie....like Angelica from the Rugrats.

which is why i don't think i can go see this movie. from what i've heard and read about this movie, i know too many REAL LIFE fellas in similar situations and i can't stomach laughing at this. at least not now. :(

I agree with you on that eventhough I saw it. That was the thing my friends and I discussed the most after the move was how many people we knew personally or heard of in this type of mess. I know of a guy at work and he has a 'friend' that seems too close for comfort...yet I will not say anything to him whereas it is not for me to say.
