On the Front we had our letters and on the back we had razing standards since 1855 and we had our house on the bag.

Chicks dig us,
Moms love us,
and Dads just want to shake our hand.

We didn't do a slogan this past rush. Instead we designed our t-shirt like more of a skater-style t-shirt...we got our fraternity name done in professional readable but trendy script with designs and our crest on the back (also modified to look like a trendy skate shirt). This would honestly only work on the West Coast probably where that style (like RVCA/Urban Outfitters) is well known, but sometimes slogans make a house look like they're trying too hard in my opinion (especially if they're about girls and stuff). Good luck with the t-shirt.

Most chapters I know of make simple rush shirts and give them to the girls.......pretty much the girls in top sororities.

Wearing your own rush shirt is pretty douchebaggish in my opinion.

The fraternities here distribute shirts to the girls in top sororities, we all wear them during fraternity rush week (the week before sororities rush), and the guys insist every year that it's a huge help.

Most of the guys I know will get rush shirts but don't wear them during actual rush week, just after.

Great, but I would be in hope that they wear Letters all of the time!:D

Remember Rush is all of the time!!!:)

Harrison Ford,
Bob Barker,
James Dean,
and Charles Schwabb
wanted to be Sigma Nus...

*back*
RUSH
SIGMA NU

Adjust for your famous alumni, and screen print their faces on the shirt too.

and Harrison Ford, Bob Barker, and Charles Schwabb all wound up Sigma Nus.....but James Dean didn't get initiated :-( one of the bigger disappointments...we really need to stop referring to him as an alum......unless UCLA moves to intiate him and petitions national and his estate accepts (there's a part in the Law that allows initiated previous candidates that were exceptional)

Still like this one for Sigma Chi! In case you can't tell, the Sigs pictured top to bottom are Brad Pitt, Tom Selleck and John Wayne.

Well, I know that the one we're going with with has yoda on the front, with a snake around his neck and instead of a lightsaber he's hold a sword....the words below it reads, "The ENpire Strikes Back." (EN in greek letters, of course) .....which, for us works really well since we're a colony at Miss. State and just coming back.

...so, maybe something similar would work for y'all.

DDlegacy 07-09-2007 02:16 PM

yeah, as long as they are classy. funny ones are great, but nothing about booze or girls. It's self-respect as well as respect for others. You want to advertise honor, pride, and whatever it is your glo stands for. If you advertise sex and beer, you may not get the quality men or reputation you want.... and the ladies probably won't like coming over as often either.
Our fraternity men wear their shirts all the time--during rush and after.

yeah2311 12-05-2007 08:35 PM

well

well you good follow the delta chi's at miami (ohio)... "No one over 150 afrter 1:50". When asked about it, the president said "(The meaning of the slogan) is to be left up to the person reading the shirt."

Hilarious!

One shirt we had was South Park themed:

"SIGMA NU
Bigger, Longer, and Cut"

The back of the shirt was the policeman version of Cartman:

"RESPECT MY FRATERNITAH!"

It was a favorite among Greeks that year.

PKTtrojan229 12-14-2007 07:20 AM

Our rush shirt for fall semester was insane....

we just got our fraternity house this year...so on the front it says "we found a new place to stick our trojan" it has the trojan helmet on it..
on the back theres a sketch of our house and a silloute of a girl bendin over in front of the house with the door between her legs and it says "and her doors are wide open"

Well one we had a while back was "Psi U. Pimping since 1833." of course you put your fraternity's name and founding year on instead.

tkehippy06 02-15-2008 02:11 AM

Our latest rush shirt was yellow with green print (our President is a big John Deere fan), had a skull and crossbones on the front, along with "TAU KAPPA EPSILON", and on the back it had our triple triangle and the quote "In life there are leaders and followers. Take note - you're reading the back of my shirt."

Great color choice, considering nowhere else do we use either of those colors.

figixa 09-17-2009 12:37 PM

Great Rush Shirt

On the Front it Says
See dick then a pic of a guy alone
See Dick Pledge then a guy with letters on his chest
See Girls Want Dick - the same guy with letters on with girls around him

What's douchebaggish about wearing a rush shirt for your own fraternity? Isn't that kind of the point?

Our Fraternity had shirts made that have a pretty cool design involving our letters on the front (designed by a brother from another Chapter who is a graphic designer in his spare time). On the back, they say "Rush [Our Fraternity]"

I don't think that's douchebaggish at all. In fact, the shirts have been great at increasing our visibility on Campus. Once a week, the brothers meet at the house with our new shirts on and eat at a central location on campus (like a dining hall). It definitely turns a few heads.

EDIT: Just realized how old this thread was. Sorry.

Because you shouldn't have to have wear your own rush shirt. You should just give it to girls and people like that.

pshsx1 09-28-2009 02:58 PM

Well every campus is different... always keep that in mind.

Psi U MC Vito 09-28-2009 02:59 PM

What is the logic behind having no brothers where your rush shirts in the first place? This is an honest question because I just don't understand.

DeltNick was talking about using it to become "visible" on campus.

Depending completely on your campus culture, visibility isn't really an issue. Shit, no one at my old campus wore jerseys (or whatever those are called when you wear your letters real big on a solid color shirt), people simply knew what you were by how you looked/talk/who you were. Visibility isn't an issue.

Psi U MC Vito 09-28-2009 04:52 PM

No I agree with him at that point. But you were saying you should get girls and other people to wear them instead. I don't understand the logic in that.

Oh sorry...

Because it's weird if brothers are encouraging people to rush a certain house. It seems a little desperate to me. Seems just awkward. We usually give the shirts to girls and guys who already got a bid (it's their first letter shirt).

Lots of hot girls from the top sororities seen wearing a particular fraternity's shirt implies that chapter's success with the ladies, which of course is one of the reasons to join a fraternity (or so I've heard.)

That's what I thought. Though if you get people who want to join just because they can sleep with the hottest girls on campus, do you really want them?

No, we don't. At least, our Chapter doesn't. Wanting to be apart of the "cool kid's clique" is not a reason to join a Fraternity in my eyes.

Part of the reasons we got the shirts was because there were many brothers who didn't own anything with our letters on it. I'm sure that Greek Culture at other campuses is different, but it's not that big at my school. Not to the point where you could look at a guy and instantly be able to tell what group he is associated with. At my school, people will only know about your Fraternity if you tell them or make it obvious.

As for giving the shirts to girls, I don't really like the idea of non-brothers wearing letters. That's just me, though. I'm sure other people have different opinions and I'm not looking to cause an argument.
