Two fingers off the wheel if you know what i'm talkin about

DSTCHAOS 12-05-2006 03:30 PM

And the LATE BUS AWARD goes to.....

robertearlkeen 12-05-2006 05:27 PM

Two fingers up here, nothing excites me more than a good movie about stepping.

Elephant Walk 12-05-2006 08:09 PM

And the SHORT BUS Award goes to....

I'm sorry I don't keep up with crappy movies about stepping, it was brought to the FS board and found to be hilarious.

I'll be waiting for that on video. It looks like it's going to be pretty weak.

Texas Beta 12-06-2006 12:01 AM

Really, that's what they do? They join fraternities to dance? and they're making a movie about it? really?

macallan25 12-06-2006 12:43 AM

Hahahahaha.

It looks better than that new Van Wilder movie or that Paris Hilton one that's supposed to come out soon. But National Lampoon has gotten rather stale in the last 12 years.

Elephant Walk 12-06-2006 01:55 PM

Except for the real Van Wilder movie. Probably the funniest one since the Chevy Chase days.

What are you smoking? The funniest National Lampoon movie was Animal House by far. Van Wilder was good, had some good pranks, but it's like comparing the original Star Wars with the Phantom Menace. It just doesn't work.

Phasad1913 12-06-2006 02:48 PM

I think the point is that what is interesting, exciting, meaningful and even what constitutes the experience of fraternity or sorority life is unique to each and every person. What one finds to be the epitome of or basis of fraternal life may be different to someone else. It doesn't give anyone the right to judge another and if you think it does, than that does not automatically mean that those whom you chose to judge should give a damn.

I didn't join to dance, but some people join fraternities to binge drink and get drunk. That's what THEY do. Really. It would be one hell of a movie too. LOL

It's going to be weak. I didn't see that many real organizations in it, so I won't waste my time to see it.

He said since the Chevy Chase days......which would mean Vacation.....which was about 12 years ago. Animal House was made in '78.

Elephant Walk 12-07-2006 03:13 AM

Correct.

Vacation came out in 83. The European Vacation movie came out in 85. But neither of those movies set a precedent for collegiate life like Animal House did. They were more than just half-ass movies about road trips but the antagonists weren't as evil.

Maybe, but the initial comment about Van Wilder being the best National Lampoon movie since the Chevy Chase movies was directed at NL movies in general, not movies about collegiate life, nor about the best NL movie ever. It has nothing to do with Animal House and everything to do with the simple opinion that Van Wilder was the funniest NL movie since the Chevy Chase movies.

And the last "Vacation" movie was "Vegas Vacation" in 1997.

Was that vegas vacation movie any good? I couldn't watch anymore NL movies after Senior Trip.

It was alright, but not great. A far cry from the original "Vacation," "European Vacation" and "Christmas Vacation."

And I think that was the whole point of Elephant Walk commenting that Van Wilder was one of the few NL movies worth watching since the (good) Vacation movies.

AlexMack 12-07-2006 02:59 PM

Van Wilder is amazing. So is Animal House. Not such a fan of the vacation movies, but the the original Vacation and European Vacation were pretty damn good. Vegas was okay.
I might download the new Van Wilder but I'm not paying money to see it.

22 years, woops. He never said anything about collegiate life. He said Van Wilder was the funniest National Lampoon movie since Vacation.

I know. I was trying to stay as relevant as possible to the original movie mentioned...
Which, by the way, looks like a lot like Drumline. If anyone has seen Stomp the Yard already, correct me for what I'm about to say, but the movie seems like it has a final showdown between the protagonist's group and a snottier, flashier group where the protagonist's group wins. I mean, the movie looks really good, up until the BET celebrity appearances. It's like the Mighty Ducks movies with the cameos from NHL players. Entertaining, but kind of sugary.

Are you an American?

Trey_P-I_47 12-09-2006 03:05 AM

I must say "Animal House" was great.......Belushi was a riot, God rest his soul. I really havent seen any other very good fraternity movies though. 'Going Greek' was ok and 'The Skulls" was pretty much a joke as far as movies go. I dont know......just my 2 cents.

Read my post about Saddam and that will answer that question:) . Seriously, I know we can't judge books by the cover, but when I saw the cover, it looked dumb to me. I liked the Skulls, that was good. I guess I don't really like commedies that much, plus I don't drink (never have except when I was pledging) so I don't see what's so fun about getting drunk.

You don't drink? What kind of a fraternity are you a member of?

Classy.

I wonder why the USC greeks didn't want Omega Psi Phi moving in.

(I realize it was a joke. Just a very bad one. If it weren't a joke, it could be misconstrued as sexual harrassment.)

Where's the sexual harassment in turning someone's dumb question around on them?

DSTCHAOS 12-09-2006 09:23 AM

And what would PrettyBoy's post have to do with Omega Psi Phi, anyway?

I see great irony here.
