My real name is Chris Hall. I visited NCA&T a few times while bouncing around the Greensboro area, but my official chapter visits were in the middle of the Fall 2005 semester (Mike McDaniel as Alpha) and the end of the Spring 2006 semester (Rusty Hampton as Alpha). I like your boys, and they treated me very well. They were receptive, and they just seemed to be a quality bunch of guys. Also, having Cliff Lowery as a High Pi helps, too. He's an awesome brother, and he, along with the rest of the High Zeta and membership, made my visit quite memorable. I only met a couple of alumni during a frisbee game out on one of the campus' lawns. I only remember the name of Lock Deep (sp?), who I guess owns the house the fraternity lives in. Anyway, they're a great bunch of guys in a not so receptive campus atmosphere, but they're trying their best to keep the ideals of Lambda Chi Alpha strong.

Yours in Z A X ,

Chris "grits" Hall

Trey_P-I_47 12-06-2006 09:24 PM

Ok so I have heard of you, as a matter of fact there was some conversation about you the other night when Nick got here, dont remember much of what was said, but I do remember your name coming up a time or 2. Mike McDanial is actually my big brother, and Im suprised I didnt meet you last semester, must have just missed you or something, who knows.

DillonAH1711 12-06-2006 11:22 PM

I just got initiated but so far i've been to...

University of Texas
Texas A&M
Oklahoma State University (my chapter!)
University of North Texas
University of Oklahoma
Tulsa University
Oklahoma Christian University
Northeastern State University (no house but I visited all of them) - Tahlequah, OK

I believe that's it... Can't wait to visit more!

JonoBN41 12-07-2006 07:59 PM

Am I really the only one on here who's been to Maine (Beta)?

Their house goes back eons, and was very cool - especially up in the "Ram", which was not heated and the windows were open year-round. Snow would blow in over the beds.

I even slept up there one night in the 70's.

Unfortunately in the early 90's the house was in bad shape, and I'm wondering if it still exists.

I feel for you, my school sucks. Way out in the middle of nowhere, we are the bastard child of Texas.

Cube TX 02-23-2007 05:00 PM

In my time I visited --

UTEP (my home chapter! Duh)
SMU
Southeast Missouri State -- didn't go to the house, but ran a camp that some of the brothers were at
NMSU -- before they were pulled, but they're back now I believe
UNM -- a few years later they were pulled
Univ. of Arizona -- a few years later they were pulled
Fresno St. -- a few years later they were pulled
Texas Tech -- the next year they were pulled

Met brothers from --
Arizona State -- right before they were pulled
Stephen F. Austin State -- AFTER they were pulled
Texas Wesleyan -- is it still around?

Hmmm... anyone see a pattern here?

I've seen the houses at UC-Santa Barbara (before it got pulled), UCLA (before it got pulled), UNT, TCU, Tarleton State and Univ. of Nebraska. I traveled a lot doing cheer camps, but usually in the summer so the houses were closed.

Texas Wesleyan is closed as well.

Do me a favor and don't comeback and visit our chapter, or we'll be gone as well. haha JK Actually the chapter is doing great, trying to repeat as Greek Week champs, a feat only accomplished by the chapter when you and I were around. Are long and distinguished debt is finally gone, and we actually have the highest GPA on campus with a 3.1. Who would of thought?

LOL, that is to cool!:)

There is nothing wrong with visitations and I encourage it! There are some neat Bothers out there!!!!:D

As you can see, there are ,many on this Site! They are great. And while we have disussions about many things, We are what We Are!:D

Just got off of the phone with a Southern Brother!:D

I have had good and bad and have soft spots for them because of the way I was or not treated!

I have had Brothers staying in my Home and in My House (Chapter) and they are always welcomed!:)

So, it may call for a little Road Trip!;)

I think in the old days, it was called a skip!

I just thought I'd pull this thread out of the basement. I was at Disney MGM Theme Park (now Disney Hollywood Studios) in Orlando, FL with my family in early January and saw a guy wearing Lambda Chi Alpha letters. I didn't have time to talk to him or anything, but it's always good to see that you're part of an organization that is so nationally known.

Oh, one time I actually did see a brother from Wichita State (are they closed too?). I was driving on I-10 in El Paso and he passed me on the freeway. I was in my old truck that had the Lambda Chi Alpha sticker on it and he honked and pointed to his cap. He had Kansas plates and a Wichita State sticker, so I assume that's where he was from. I always thought that was kind of cool.

GammaZeta 07-30-2008 09:30 PM

Every one in New England.

Bilski 07-31-2008 03:17 PM

Just got back from UIFI in Bloomington, Indiana and wouldn't you know I picked the session that was lucky enough to have Pete Smithhisler, Lambda Chi alumnus and NIC President, as its chief facilitator.

Crescent182 07-31-2008 08:07 PM

I pale in comparison but, oh well.

There was never a Zeta at W U, Ks.

Only 3 in Kansas:

PSU-mine
KU
KSU.

Only 3 other schools that would be big enough for LXA:

W U
Emporia S Un
Fort Hayes S Un.

In Mo.

Mo S Un. closed Zeta
Mo. Western S Un-Zeta closed.
NWMo Un.
Mo.S Un.

Crescent182 08-02-2008 10:18 AM

Also in Missouri is Truman State University (formerly Northeast Missouri State)
Only reason I know this is that my Big Brother became the manager of their campus bookstore when the name change happened. And yes it is named after brother Harry S. Truman

Hmmm... must have been a transfer student or there for grad school then. Poor guy.

Isn't there a Friends University of Central Kansas? I remember them at a camp I did in Springfield, MO back in 2000. I still can't get over a school actually having been named that.

I know there is or was a chapter at Southeast Missouri State. I was there for a camp in 2001 and was at a bar called Show Me's when I ran into a brother from the SEMO chapter named Jason. Nice guy. Then it turned out that two of the members of the squad from SEMO that I was working with were also Lambda Chis and I talked to them at a place called Ragsdale's. I still have two shirts they'd given me.

LOL. Yes there is a Friends Un and is in the middle of no where Ks.

Yes, there are Zetas at NE (Truman un), SE Mo (Cape Girudeax ?), and Culver-Stockton in NE Mo, Un Mo S & T (Rolla).

Of course St. Loius School of Pharacology (?).

Brother Ed Lenord is now President of Betheny College, another small school in mid Ks.

We're the 'St. Louis College of Pharmacy,' more commonly known as StLCoP...

and SEMO is in Cape Girardeau
"And knowing is half the battle!!"

As for myself:
StLCoP - St. Louis, MO (Pi-Lambda)
MST - Rolla, MO (Alpha-Delta)
SEMO - Cape Girardeau, MO (Delta-Phi)
Mizzou - Columbia, MO (Gamma-Kappa)

A short list, yes, but I hope to be able to go much further soon.

In ZAX,

chopper744 08-03-2008 10:56 PM

I have been to:

UW-Whitewater (my Zeta)
Northwester (Initiated the new Colony in 1998/99?)
Nebraska-Lincoln (for the Sigma Chi Fight Night!)
Nevada-Reno
Oklahoma City
Northern Illinois
Iowa State
Arizona State University (during the 1998 General Assembly)
Minnesota-Mankato (now Minnesota State University) Sled-Till-You're-Dead!
...

My work is allowing me to travel and visit the Chops in other states, which is great. I'm looking forward to making another trip to Reno next Summer...and possibly somewhere in Colorado. Heads up!

LXAAlum 08-06-2008 03:26 PM

To update: South Florida and UNLV have been added to my list of visited chapters (never an ELC, btw).

No Wichita State chapter has ever existed, but, they appeared (in the late 1980's when I was there) to have a strong greek system, beautiful yet identical chapter houses...and strong BGLO organization - witnessed a sorority pledge class marching in line one evening.

Nice campus, too.

john1082 08-06-2008 04:17 PM

I thought that we had (of did have) a chapter at Wichita State. Another campus where we have no presence is the Univ of Wisconsin. It is a major league school and I've always wondered why we didn't have a chapter there.

I have wondered the same, and have seen other nationals recently reestablish chapters there succesfully. The last time we were on campus was in 1968 and have 876 initiates there too.

I believe they are in the queue for recolonization, actually.

This is weird, but suddenly I remembered where that guy I happened to see on the freeway was from. He passed me and pointed to his Lambda Chi Alpha cap, said hi and drove on. His back window sticker said "Weber State University". I have no idea why I suddenly remembered just now after so many years.

I have no idea where Weber State University is or what this guy was doing on I-10 in El Paso, but it was still pretty cool.

HONKY660 11-29-2008 07:28 PM

We've never had a chapter at Weber State, I believe we had an interest group there a while back but it didn't pan out.

john1082 11-30-2008 03:36 PM

Weber State

Weber State is in Ogden, Utah. It would be a tough sell on that campus as the LDS church frowns on the Greek system as we know it. There may be some "Greek Letter" groups at BYU but I doubt that they are IFC groups. The University of Utah did host a Zeta at one time but they were closed at some point.

Bilski 12-01-2008 03:12 AM

Just got back from Lincoln, Nebraska and tried to visit our chapter at UNL. No one home for the holidays I guess!

Cube TX 12-01-2008 05:53 PM

I was there back in the summer of 2001. It's a great town. I passed by the chapter house, but since it was summer I figured no one would be there.

Albert109 12-02-2008 03:23 AM

I can't wait til our chapter gets a house - it'll be far after I graduate though... we need some alumni first; our founders graduate in May '09
