Roses, buds & thorns
 

Cute idea from Delta Zeta, Delta Gamma, and Pi Beta Phi forums:

Rose = Something good that happened to you this week
Bud = Something You're looking forward to in the next week
Thorn = Something not so great that happened in the last week

For example:
Rose = Paid all my bills
Bud = Both kids go back to college this week
Thorn = Both kids go back to college this week

My former land chapter did something like this....


Rose= I found out about an amazing opportunity that will be a big boost personally and professionally.

Bud= I'm looking forward to getting our Christmas tree this weekend.

Thorn= My grandfather had a major stroke on Monday. He is not doing well at all. Please pray for him. :(

Rose = Got 3 free red "mr Lincoln" roses in.:D
Bud = Waiting for Erica to post about her grandpa doing better:o
Thorn = 40degrees outside, and been sleeting/snowing for 15+ hours now:eek:

Rose: I did very well on my nursing exam today and summer nursing externship job interview today.

Bud: We are going to a Xmas Casino party next weekend :)

Thorn: This week my current boss stabbed me in the back and my once highly favorable opinion of her is now highly disfavorable.

Rose: I have the best roomies ever

Bud: I am going to be initiated into Gamma Sigma Sigma Cherry Blossom Alum chapter on Sunday

Thorn: Ugh...

Roses: I have four awesome nephews, and three of them came to visit me over Thanksgiving. I hope they'll come for Christmas.

Bud: I'm seeking AI into a NPC sorority, and I have a friend writing a recommendation and introduction for me!

Thorn: It's too blasted cold outside, but my dad's going out to play golf anyway.

Rose: Both of my cats have clean bills of health (which is really good because my oldest is on medicine for a heart murmur).

Bud: My mom is coming to visit me!

Thorn: I found out yesterday that my dad might have to have a defibulator put in in January, his heart is only beating at 30-35%. :( Should know more next week.

Rose=My mom gave us her chair because she got new furniture, and it looks great in my livingroom.

Bud=My violin recital is on Friday.

Thorn=My grandpa is not doing better. In fact, my family is now in the awful position of deciding if Papa should be left on the respirator or not.

Rose: I am a Gamma Sigma Sigma now!

Bud: I may start ballroom dancing with one of my sisters!

Thron: Im having a lot of pain in my hip.

Rose:Alison got initiated into Gamma Sigma Sigma and I have been named chapter advisor for my ASA sisters at IUP.
Buds:I will be testing for my brown belt in taekwondo on the 20th.
Thorns: I'm totally stressing over my LC, my papers due next week, and my sick son.

What's up with your Grandpap? I will be praying for him..I'm sorry I didn't know. Now I feel guilty about trying to pop in...Anything we can do?

Jamie, no problem. You didn't know. And anyway...I want to get together. You weren't just popping in! Besides, you are always welcome.

Rose=My grandpa has been awake several times over the last few days! He hasn't spoken (probably can't), but he is looking around. He even responded a little bit to my mom. Praise God!

Bud=The pieces that I'm performing in the violin recital (Fri.) went SO well in practice today!

Thorn=I have three papers due and a final exam next week. Aaah!!!!!:eek:

Rose=My grandfather is at peace in heaven.
Bud=My last paper of the semester is due tomorrow!
Thorn=Losing my "Papa" was a terrible blow. Finals week is always hard, but now I have to struggle through the loss while trying to study and be with my family. It is so hard.

Rose= I did well on my finals and had my kids all week.

Bud=Now that I'm done with finals I dont know what to do with myself.

Thorn= My husband got my 9 year old son a drum set for xmas.

Rose- I'm just about done with grad school! I emailed in my last paper, and I have a final to turn in tonight and I'm finished!

Bud- Going out to celebrate my graduation with friends on Thursday and my break from work starts on Wednesday!

Thorn- I'm exausted from staying up until two trying to get all my papers done.


Erica, I'm sorry to hear about your grandfather.

Rose=All of my papers are in, exams over. Yippee!!!!
Bud=Christmas is almost here.
Thorn=Christmas is going to be sad without Papa.

Rose: My husband finished his master's thesis and presentation!
Bud: Christmas!!
Thorn: My dad found out that he does have to have the defibulator/pacemaker put in; it's scheduled for the second week of January. (But this is not totally a "thorn"; I'd rather he have this in case of a second heart attack.)

Rose=My schedule this semester allows me to be with my son a lot more!
Bud=I'll probably finish knitting my husband's new scarf in the next week or so.
Thorn=I didn't get my reading done for class tonight (because I was knitting:p ).

Rose: I got all my kids DRA testing done... halleluia. Its tough when you're with them 3 hours total...

Bud: I have some days off coming soon, and it MIGHT snow here!

Thorn: My retention list was a lot longer than I had anticipated.

Rose: I just finished my midterm exam in Experimental Design. I think I did really well!

Bud: I get to spend some time with my family this weekend. I'm having a St. Patrick's Day dinner.

Thorn: The next month and a half will be a long series of commitments and deadlines. The end of the semester is always so crazy!

Rose: I have an awesome roomie

Bud: St Pats will ROCK, I have my roomie and my Beth coming and we are possibly going to Arlington!

Thorn: stress from school - rough day today overall with MANY big things going on (nothing directly involving me) but it was a tough day...

Rose=My husband got a raise!!
Bud=Our Pledge Ritual is next week!!
Thorn=Ive had a bad migraine for over a week :(

Rose - We are FINALLY living back in Texas again!

Bud - Family reunion this weekend

Thorn - Hubby still doesn't have a job after 2 months of unemployment :(

Rose - Got to know one of my new "sisters" this week...and she's Great!
Bud - My mother is taking our two children for an evening so my husband and I can have a date
Thorn - we (our chapter) are having some growing pains. Anyone know the rules about unofficial elections before march?

Rose = Hubbie and I welcomed our 1st child, Anna Catherine 1-6-09
Bud = Can't wait to go back to work!
Thorn = My mother is staying with us and she is driving my hubbie and I NUTS

I do this with my team at the end of each day!

Rose-i got to be in the classroom today (did some science experiment with kindergarten and social studies with 1st). lead a lesson for 2nd grade (so nervous but went well). Partially because I had people out today so I filled in.

Bud-looking forward to two things: a 1st grader told me he was going to college-presh! And also the inauguration.

Thorn-having a new team member and not adequately preparing her transition. Another team member is pregnant and a third may be fired soon. :(

Rose-I have decided on a new career path--healthcare and medicine!

Bud-watching the inauguration!

Thorn-My husband and I had a big blowup last week. It was NOT good! :mad:

Thorn-Had a bug last week. I'm finally over it. Yay!

Rose: i'm now eligible to take the exemplar degree ritual and will be doing so with a fellow chapter sister next month :)

Thorn: no luck on finding a nursing home that will take my mom :(

Rose = I picked up more responsibility at work and an extra day! = more$
Bud = my hubbies first fathers day
Thorn = some ahole tried to steal our car
