Wii

Has anyone watched/played this system in the mall? It is crazy. The controllers are like motion sensitive. I think the system is only $250. I'm curious who will do better in sales - Nintendo or Sony.

AlexMack 11-19-2006 11:50 PM

Nintendo will just because they didn't release a mere 400k systems on the first day of release like Sony did.

And, they aren't nearly as expensive to begin with. Smart move on Nintendo's part.

Drolefille 11-20-2006 10:10 AM

Didn't get one *sniffle*

Which is not surprising as I didn't pre-order one OR wait in line at midnight.

I think parents will also favor this system because it encourages physical activity. It won't replace an old fashion work-out, but it will definately burn some calories. I wonder had Nintendo taken that into consideration, or it's just a coincidence.

LOL! That's exactly the argument that my 9-year-old keeps making. "But Dad, you get exercise while you're playing it."

I will admit that it looks way cool. He's still not getting one, though.

Lil' Hannah 11-20-2006 11:18 AM

My friend bought one yesterday. We played the Wii Sports games, they were pretty fun. I went undefeated in boxing and I'm actually pretty sore from it.

Haha yeah silly Sony. They didn't do any thinking and randomly picked a price tag and number to release to US customers. Haha.

My boyfriend and I actually ended up getting two the day it came out. Woke up early waited in line, etc. We have had a lot of fun playing it... the other one will probably go to his two younger brothers for christmas. He took his down for thanksgiving and they had a so much fun playing it. The whole family were playing rounds of golf.

Lil' Hannah 01-18-2007 10:29 AM

Man loses 9 pounds playing Wii Sports!

I'm wanting to get one of these, but it seems they are next to impossible to find.

Drolefille 01-18-2007 11:52 AM

While PS3's apparently gather dust on the shelf.

Yes I'm a Wii fangirl and want one really really badly.

Did you have to pay much more than retail?

yes, although not as much as some people seemed to be paying.

Damn my cheapness.

I want one
I want Zelda
Possibly Trauma Center or Rayman or something, not sure what else.

But I want to pay retail!

Kevin 01-18-2007 01:20 PM

I need to save my pennies, so I'm waiting for retail as well. I can't say I wouldn't turn around and ebay one I found at retail though. $100 bucks for shipping something ain't a bad way to put some extra cash in your wallet.

KDAngel 01-18-2007 07:01 PM

Give it another month or so and they'll start showing up more and more. I played Wii tennis this past weekend and it really was a workout. I had a great time. :)

SapphireSphinx9 01-18-2007 07:22 PM

the only video game that i ever wanted growing up was the original gameboy... (still have it, too)
all the others since just seemed pretty lame to me.

but this!!!

yes, i will own one!

told the boyfriend to combine my birthday and our anniversary presents to get me a wii! i can't wait!!

SSS1365 01-19-2007 10:34 AM

Mr. SSS and I really want one, but we too are waiting for availability at retail. I just cannot bring myself to pay more than $250 for it, knowing that they'll be available for that price within a few months.

kddani 02-17-2007 08:05 PM

I'm thinking about getting a Wii... is it still as difficult to find? Any tips?

Drolefille 02-17-2007 08:19 PM

They're still pretty hard to find. Around here Sundays seem to be ship day. But you don't usually have to wait in line really early or anything. I walked up to the Circuit City door at 9:45 (they open at ten) and a guy came out and handed me a voucher. I was number 7 out of 12. Then I just waited in my car.

I'd check the ads on Sunday, and try Circuit City, Best Buy, Game Crazy/Game Stop/etc. and some Sears carry them too.

I LOVE mine and am currently on the way to being the best surgeon ever. I totally should have gone to med school!

Stef the Pef 02-18-2007 05:36 AM

I'm definitely not a gamer, but a Wii sounds like something I could finally get into. Just never could figure out the buttons on regular games, you know?

Plus, this is too, too, too funny: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8l_4jITxRcc

"I'm cheap...and fun." :D

Drolefille 02-18-2007 11:11 AM

Lol, and now you can find a PS3 anywhere!

ZTAngel 02-18-2007 04:58 PM

My dad bought himself both the PS3 and the Wii. He decided that he didn't like the Wii as much so he gave it to me for my birthday. My fiance and I have officially turned into nerds...we stayed home last night and played Wii Sports. So fun.

SSS1365 02-18-2007 06:04 PM

So we gave in and got one for $300 on ebay. It is so much fun. Right now we only have the Wii Sports game that it came with, but we love playing it. You can actually get a little bit of a workout playing tennis and boxing!

PeppyGPhiB 02-19-2007 02:42 AM

I don't even really like video games, and have never owned a consol in my life, but I tried the Wii for the first time at a friend's house last night and had a ball! I'm actually encouraging my bf to get one.

I bought a Wii last night from Wal-Mart at the retail price of $249. I got the last one. I finally got it connected to my wireless Internet this morning. I played all the sports games last night just to test them out. It can be tiring. The games will tell you to take a break; however, I kept on going. Wal-Mart was out of Zelda, so I will go to a game store today and purchase it. I'm in love with the Wii. :D

Drolefille 02-25-2007 02:41 PM

Zelda's definately worth it :)

and lol at the games telling you to take a break. I clearly haven't played Wii Sports enough, but my TV is on the floor right now and it's hard to play tennis while sitting on the floor.

LeslieAGD 02-25-2007 02:52 PM

I've never been crazy for console games. I had an Atari growing up and I would play the original Nintendo with the boy I used to baby sit; but, I didn't really care about the PS or Xbox.

However, the Wii is very cool. I played it at my in-laws house and was sore the next day from boxing. Then my brother-in-law brought his new one over, and now I'm hooked! I absolutely need to get my hands on one.

I bought it today another Wal-Mart. However, I haven't played it yet. I will start after I finish my laundry.

Drolefille 02-26-2007 09:57 AM

Has anyone gotten Wii Play? The reviewer in my paper didn't like it but it comes w/ an extra controller so it's basically a 10 dollar game (assuming you WANT a controller). I thought it might be fun to play with my family...

I bought that today with the controller. I haven't played it yet though. I just buy stuff to have it. I should be ashamed. I did play Zelda for 2 and a half hours last night though. I'm at the part where the kids chased the monkey. I'll keep you posted on Wii Play.

I played it the other night...it wasn't great, but a nice little time waster while we were waiting to go out. It would probably be worth it for the controller.

mu_agd 02-27-2007 10:03 AM

I'm not happy that the release date for Mario Party 8 seems to have changed.

I finally played my Wii Play last night. The games are quite interesting. I wouldn't say it's bad. I like Find Mii because it is mind stimulating. It's definitely worth $10.

Thanks, I'll have to see if I can snag it after my next payday :)
