2006-2007 College Basketball-March Madness is coming soon!

As we all seemed to have had a good time with NCAA football, I thought a Basketball thread was in order.

And as I am starting it, I thought I would start it ( soon to end I already know ) with Div III starting poll.:) Any questions why, just look at my sig line.:D

UPS, in 1979, won Div II!

And now back to Div I:

Well, since you started the thread.....

Nebraska Upsets #20 Creighton!!!!

I watched this game online, and let me tell you, it was fantastic!!!
:D:D:D

Nebraska hadn't beat their in-state rivals in a regular season game in eight years, and for brand new coach Doc Sadler to do it in his only second regular season game, and with a very limited injury-riddled bench says tons - the future looks very bright for Nebraska Basketball.

Now lets hope Nebraska can keep providing the full house that was at the Bob tonight for the rest of the season and hope the Doc keeps his team this way throughout the conference...

Was at the final game of the College Hoops Classic/Coaches vs Cancer on Friday night. MD vs. MSU - good game!

Thats hilarious man. Nebraska upsetting Creighton. Thats like saying that Michigan upset MAC west champion Central Michigan in college football.

macallan25 11-21-2006 02:37 AM

Nebraska hasn't had a good basketball program in recent memory, atleast the last 5 years. Upsetting a Top 20 team is an accomplishment. You can't compare College Basketball to College Football.....it is not the same.

AOIIalum 11-21-2006 07:52 AM

You know it's coming...wait for it...

GO BIG BLUE!!!!
Yes, I do feel much better now. Thank heavens for ESPN networks airing the Maui tournament. I was going through some serious basketball withdrawal.

I so tried to get out to Maui this year but the UK tickets sold out in hours. And now, dang it if I'm not stuck at work and missing the first half telecast of the Memphis game. At least I can streamline the UK Radio Network. (And we should be in the championship! #$%@ UCLA!)

GO CATS!

GeekyPenguin 11-22-2006 06:45 PM

And in a real upset, Marquette beat Duke! :)

shinerbock 11-22-2006 07:29 PM

Not that big an upset. Good program upset, but its like when Miss. St. upset Alabama in football. Bama sucks, thats how it happened. Duke isn't very good thus far.

I think it's more of an upset than Nebraska and Creighton though. :)

A #14 beating a #9 is better than a in-state matchup, where a #20 loses to an unranked for years??

shinerbock 11-22-2006 09:38 PM

The difference is, Nebraska is a big time school beating a little "other" school. Creighton is alright at bball sometimes, but I mean come on, its still Creighton.

KSigkid 11-23-2006 09:14 AM

I'm looking forward to the UConn season; they're young, and it's always tough to judge until they get into the meat of their schedule. Adrien looks good though, and Thabeet is blocking everything that comes into the paint. If Price can be consistent at point guard, all the better.

docetboy 11-26-2006 03:01 AM

Kansas and Florida played a great game in Vegas tonight, with the Jayhawks upsetting the #1 team 82-80 in OT.

Always nice to see a Big 12 school beat up on a school from Florida :)

That was a great game; I was surprised, because Kansas hadn't looked all that impressive before this game.

We beat DUKE and lose to NORTH DAKOTA STATE?

Jesus. I think the Jumpin Jesuit should have been our mascot after all.

Man, Auburn almost pulled the upset against Pitt today. Maybe we'll go .500 in SEC play, that'd be nice.

The question is:
While March is a long way away, is there any interest is a GC March Maddness Pool on Sportingnews or yahoo? EZ to set up, just wondering if anyone would take part.

You'll likely find a LOT of interest (myself included) in a pool - just doing a quick search (since I know I participated last year, here's a link to last year's contest among GCers :))

You just let us know when and where, jon1856! :)

KEEPING PACE: Puget Sound’s scoring frenzy does not seem to be slowing down. The No. 17 Loggers have won four straight games, including a 114-104 victory over La Verne on Dec. 16, as they improved their overall record to 7-1.

Please do! I have tickets to the 1st and 2nd rounds in Columbus, so I'm extra excited for this year's tourney.

Bump:) :D

KSigkid 01-08-2007 09:50 AM

Well UConn has blown it against its first two difficult opponents this year. It's not a big surprise, as the talent level is down from last year, but it's still a disappointment.

I'm sure Adrien, Price, Thabeet and company will improve as the year goes on, but people around here are getting way too excited.

I may be seeing the UConn/Syracuse game at Syracuse; hopefully the Huskies have their acts straight by that time. It would be nice if Price started shooting over 40% and stopped turning the ball over.

I just hope we can keep this little winning streak up...we went down the crapper after the UW game, which my stupid boyfriend has been throwing in my face mercilessly.
