Casino Royale - New Bond flick

I saw it last night at a private screening - I think it was pretty good..

It was a bit long - I felt like the movie was about to end 3 times and then it kept going.....

Other than that I suppose it was alright. Anyone else planning on watching it?

Hello Return of the King!

I'll wait for it to become downloadable methinks. Shouldn't take too long after it's released.

AOIIalum 11-17-2006 07:55 AM

I don't know if I'll see it. I just don't see Daniel Craig as Bond.

I'm pumped. I hated Timothy Dalton and Pierce Brosnan as Bond. Blech! It's great that finally, after 20 years, there's a James Bond movie I'm looking forward to.

REE1993 11-17-2006 11:42 AM

Sean Connery was and always will be James Bond. Dang even in his 70s I love him. And that accent.... it's the Scottish thing I think. Ewan McGregor is Scottish too.

OhSoVeryLadylike 11-17-2006 01:12 PM

Daniel Craig is SO not Bond like. Bond is supposed to be the epitome of male sexiness and Craig is NOT. I would have preferred Julian McMahon in the role...or maybe I just think he is hot.

BINGO!!!!!!!!! I still love that man!!!!!

I saw the trailer for this new Bond months ago and thought "this has to be a spoof!!" The cheesiness of it all and the trying too hard-ness. Especially the scene where he's walking out of the water with a bikini bottom on. Not buying it--or going to see it.

AlexMack 11-17-2006 01:40 PM

Sorry, Roger Moore is the best Bond hands down. Not Sean Connery.

neosoul 11-17-2006 04:27 PM

Sean Connery HANDS DOWN is the best Bond EVER!! followed by Roger Moore, then Pierce Brosnan...

Daniel Craig is something else.... can't wait until I go see him tonight... he has the BLUEST eyes ever... gosh... he was rugged in Munich, and I believ he will do right by Bond.... hmmmm serious eye candy....

Julian McMahon as James Bond? I'd buy tickets.

queequek 11-18-2006 12:47 PM

One of the best Bond movie I've seen. I surely hope they didn't really distroy the Venetian house in the movie making.

neosoul 11-18-2006 01:51 PM

sheeeeeeiiitttttttttttt............ Daniel Craig is fucking sexy.... gatdamn.... and all that unleashed power.... oooohhhhweeeee

Oh, he has the personality. That was probably the best James Bond movie I've ever seen. It was kinda long, but very enjoyable!

I haven't seen the movie yet. So clearly I don't know if he can pull off a "Bond", but I've seen him in a couple of movies, and he isn't a bad actor.

AlphaSigOU 11-20-2006 11:47 PM

I kept my tradition going on close to 25 years and watched the latest James Bond film in the theaters opening day. Four words...

JAMES BOND IS BACK!!!!

And opening up a can of whoop ass on the bad guys, wherever they may be.

For once, a James Bond film that doesn't rely on Q Branch to save the world!

ShyViolet 11-21-2006 01:35 PM

I still haven't formed my opinion on Daniel Craig as Bond - he's very different. The film was entertaining though. :)

As far as the Venetian house - no, they wouldn't have destroyed a patrician house on the Grand Canal. It was done at Pinewood Studios (says IMDB). Also, that's the first time they've let a personal yacht sail on the Grand Canal between the Rialto and Accademia bridges in several hundred years. Fun stuff.

bcdphie 11-21-2006 04:27 PM

Overall I really enjoyed Casino Royale, however I too thought the movie was going to end about three times before it actually did. I don't really have an opinion yet on Daniel Craig as the new Bond (other than he's really hot)... I still think Connery and Brosnan are the best.

breathesgelatin 11-21-2006 06:47 PM

Saw it on Friday and really enjoyed it. New Bond is a beautiful example of the male physique, to say the least. And I thought it was generally well-acted, and the locations were great. I want to go to Montenegro.

Ditto...those eyes, dreamy, that body...sooooo hot, want to touch the hiney.
Granted the story had some large holes, but overall I enjoyed it.

And there was the typical eye candy for the boys, my hubbie loooooved Eva Green.

AOIIalum 11-21-2006 09:44 PM

For those of you who have already seen Casino Royale: Is it really as good or better than Goldfinger, On Her Majesty's Secret Service, or Live and Let Die?

In my not-so-humble opinion as a rabid James Bond fan, it's on par with Goldfinger and OHMSS, but won't beat the classics.

What my brother said:D

I haven't seen the movie yet. I'm looking forward to it. I've heard nothing but good reviews of the movie and many are saying it is the best Bond Film ever.

shinerbock 11-24-2006 04:51 PM

Its a good movie, but its not very Bond. Action is fairly limited, he kills a bunch of people (not very Bond, you rarely see people killed), and he only has sex with one woman in the movie. It is good though, but def not the best Bond ever.

The Bond of today is quite a bit different than the Bond of the 60s. Back then, he smoked like a chimney, drank like a fish, and screwed any female for Queen and Country. And he still managed to save the world from megalomaniac villains trying to hold the world hostage - without getting a hangover of titanic proportions or the dreaded atomic c*ck-rot!

Today, 007 doesn't smoke, drinks in moderation, and usually beds down with one woman per film - any more women he beds usually becomes the Obligatory Sacrificial Lamb and gets killed off.

DSTCHAOS 11-25-2006 02:12 PM

Saw it last night.

I liked it. My fav parts were the opening and closing scenes. Waaaaay better than those cheesy trailers in the theater a year ago made it look.

He was a good Bond. Entertaining. He has a nice body but an ugly face.

squirrely girl 11-25-2006 10:43 PM

SERIOUSLY nice body - the movie wasn't bad either...

AlphaSigOU 11-25-2006 10:53 PM

I would have preferred they played European baccarat like the original book instead of Texas Hold 'em (the baccarat played in American casinos is actually a variation called chemin de fer, sometimes grossly simplified as 'mini-baccarat'), but it is said producer Michael G. Wilson (Barbara Broccoli's stepbrother) is a very good poker player; also consider it's the hot casino game today. But I don't mind playing Texas Hold 'em - you'll find more Hold 'em tables than baccarat.

PrettyBoy 11-26-2006 12:29 AM

I'm going to see it Monday. The only thing I'm leary on was that this new guy doesn't look like a James Bond. James Bond is supposed to look smooth, this new guy looks a little rough.

Even the literary James Bond had that world-weary look to him... scar down his right cheek, among other places. Ignoring that Daniel Craig is blonde, rather than dark-haired, as previous cinema Bonds were, I think he'll do well as 007.

I saw it as well, and enjoyed it. Totally entertaining escapist fun.

He does have that um, rugged look about his face. Looks dang good without his shirt on though.
