I just thought I'd pick up the conversation in this forum. http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/smile.gif
So here's my question. 1. Where do you/did you go to school? 2. How many Sororities and Fraternities are there on your campus? 3. Which Fraternities/Sororities do you affiliate with most? 4. What do you think our reputation is like on your campus?!?! --------------------------------------------- 1. I go to University of Nebraska at Omaha (Zeta Delta Chapter). 2. There are four sororities (Chi-O, Alpha Xi Delta, Zeta Tau Alpha and Sigma Kappa) and five Fraternities (Pikes, Sig Eps, Theta Chi, Lambda Chi, and Phi Delt). 3. We affiliate most with the Pikes but we're starting to get closer to the Sig Eps. 4. We're known as the intelligent, outgoing group that usually wins the most awards. We have the most girls (75) and our girls are the most active on our campus! http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/smile.gif Unfortunately I think the above gives the other sororities on our campus the idea that we're overly competative, even though we're not. I also think some of the guys are intimidated by us (other than the Pikes). LOL! ------------------ What do you get when you cross an Alpha Omicron Pi and a Sigma Phi Epsilon? A beautiful Chi Omega! ~Love ya mom & dad :) |
1. University of South Alabama (Beta Theta Chapter) Go Jags!
2. There are five sororities on campus (AOPi, Alpha Gamma Delta, KD, Phi Mu, and us!) and eights fraternities (KA, Kappa Sig, Phi Kappa Sigma, PKA, Pi Kappa Phi, SAE, Sigma Chi, and TKE). 3. We generally hang out with the Pi Kappa Phis, and also the TKEs. As for sororities, we have a rivalry with Phi Mu. 4. We are really aproachable. There are the absolutely gorgous girls, the academics, the partiers, etc. But no one here is pretentious and we all like to hang out with girls in other sororities and independants. We have had the best GPA for several years, we have made quota every year for the last few years, we have the most Who's Who and SGA people. I feel like we are probably one of the best liked sororities - some have a problem with "elite-ism." Phi Mu absolutely hates it when we win at anything! http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/biggrin.gif Allie http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/tongue.gif By the way - congrats on "Moderator" status Hootie! First of all
CONGRATULATIONS!!!!!! http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/smile.gif Hootie! So psyched to see the Moderator next to your name! Second- great topic- out of all my friends- I am the only one who had to work today -I am glad to see a new topic! I'm an alum but I did go back for a reunion last September and got the scoop. Chi Omega- Alpha Delta Chapter- Indiana State 17 Fraternities and 13 Sororities- http://web.indstate.edu/slp/Fratgpa.html The above link goes right to all of them and their grade standings. Each fall there was homecoming and you would get paired with one or two fraternities; each spring would be a bike race and again- you are paired with a fraternity so we never hung around with just one group - it was always the group we were paired with. My personal favs were Pikes, ATO's and TKE's. When I first pledged- the big competition was with AOPi but towards the end of school- we got along great with everyone. The girls there now are first in grades, first in rush quota, have high positions with Union Board, SGA and the Panhellinic. You can check out their site: http://hurricane.indstate.edu/users/koby/ Take care everybody! |
Hi Ladies!
1. University of Tennessee at Chattanooga Delta Alpha chapter 2.We have 4 sororities (Chi O, ADPi, KD, and Sigma Kappa) and 6 fraternities (Lambda Chi, Phi Delts, Sigma Chi, Kappa Sig, Pike, and TKE.) 3. We have 100 girls in our chapter so I think we are pretty split between the other groups. (I mean this in good way, I think you can find Chi O's hanging out with every other group.) 4. (Hootie, your chapter sounds a lot like mine!) We have sisters in almost every club and organization I can think of, many being officers. We've been highest in scholarship and made quota since I can remember. In the almost 3 years I've been active we've won homecoming, intermurals, stepshow, all sing, and greekshow at least once, more in most cases. I'm not really sure how others perceive us. Mostly positive from what I can tell. Sometimes I feel (I may be wrong) that others may be intimidated/jealous of us b/c we do win so many awards, etc. Not that we'd want anyone to be. It just sort of happens that we win. We work hard but we also have fun. |
Great Topic, Hootie!
1. Sam Houston State University 2. Sororities: 3 recognized, 1 not but still very active-- ADPi, AXO, ZTA, Chi O Fraternities: 11-- Sigma Tau Gamma, Sigma Nu, Sigma Phi Epsilon, Delta Tau Delta, Phi Delta Theta, Kappa Alpha, Tau Kappa Epsilon, Kappa Sigma, Theta Chi, Sigma Chi, Phi Kappa Theta (colony) 3. The Chi Os here mostly affiliate with the Sig Taus, Sig Eps and Delts. 4. The way our sisterhood has grown the past couple of months, I think people now veiw us as a strong, confident group of ladies. I think people respect us so much more now. |
I'm just curious how come Sam Houston has only 3 sororities and like 11 fraternities?!?! That's just an odd ratio!
I'm glad that your sisterhood has proven strong and that you're continuing to receive support there! Congrats! Hootie! |
Heres what it was at George Mason University. I'm a Beta Alum but this is how it was before I graduated in 97.

I remember a fun graphiti social we did with your some of your sisters. By the way, I went with one of your VT Tech sisters to formal and had a pretty good time. http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/smile.gif [This message has been edited by Miami1839 (edited February 24, 2001).] [This message has been edited by Miami1839 (edited February 24, 2001).] |

We affiliate with a lot of fraternities, lately we've been hanging at Phi Kappa Theta (PKTs), Delta Chi, and Phi Kappa Alpha (Pikes). As far as sororities we do not necessarily hang out with any certain house, but women in our house all know women from other houses. Two of my good friends are Kappas. As far as our reputation, we are know as the most diverse house on campus. We have women involved in almost every aspect of campus life. We have girls that are into scholarship, sports, politics, socials, etc. Katherine Drees Beta Beta Chapter Chi Omega Washington State University |
BetaBeta2001,

2. We have the following sororities: Chi O, ZTA, A D Pi, KD, Pi Phi, AZD, Theta,Tri Delta, and DG. Kappa Kappa Gamma is going to be colonizing next fall! As for frats, we have 16 of them. Sigma Chi, Sig Ep, Lambda Chi, Pike, ATO, DU, TKE, Phi Delta Theta, FIJI, SAE, Kappa Sig (can't think of the others!) 3. We usually hang out with Lambda Chi and DU. 4. We're known to be the down to earth girls who know how to have a good time!! We're really involved on campus, the Panhellenic President is a Chi O and so is the Treasurer! We're only three years old!! My big sis is a founding sister of my chapter. Cool huh? We're new, but we've made such a huge mark among the Greeks, placing in Homecoming and Greek Week and other Philanthropies. I love GreekChat.com!! I just found it a couple of days ago and I love being able to get to know sisters from everywhere!! Take care! Love- MAY |
1. Where do you/did you go to school? 2. How many Sororities and Fraternities are there on your campus? 3. Which Fraternities/Sororities do you affiliate with most? 4. What do you think our reputation is like on your campus?!?![/B][/QUOTE] 1. I go To the University of California at Davis 2. There are nine panhellenic sororities on my campus, and about 22 fraternities 3. We affiliate most with the Phi Delts, and the Lambda Chi Alphas at Sac State 4. We dont really have much of a reputation on campus, but we are working on it http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/smile.gif |

How many more new members do we have on the board. Post your info and say "hello."
lico- Hootie http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/biggrin.gif ------------------ What do you get when you cross an Alpha Omicron Pi and a Sigma Phi Epsilon? A beautiful Chi Omega!!! Zeta Delta Chapter of Chi Omega http://www.unomaha.edu/~comega |
1. U. of Pittsburgh
2. There are 11 sororities, and i think 16-18 fraternities. 3. A lot of our girls are friends with girls from all different sororities. Fraternities we hang out with most are SAE and PIKA 4. We have a very good reputation- classy, fun, involved, we are one of the biggest houses on campus. |
Welcome Chi O Cutie.

1. Where do you/did you go to school?
Oglethorpe University 2. How many Sororities and Fraternities are there on your campus? 3 Sororities-Chi Omega, Tri Sigma, Alpha Sigma Tau 4 Fraternities-KA, SAE, Chi Phi, Delta Sigma Phi 3. Which Fraternities/Sororities do you affiliate with most? There is a general rivalry between the sororities. Chi Omega is more established and we always make numbers, whereas the other too struggle. We don't really affiliate ourselves with any fraternity in particular, because it is a really small school. I generally hang out with the KAs where I am a little sister. 4. What do you think our reputation is like on your campus?!?! Chi Omega has always had an outstanding reputation on campus, because we are the largest and continually win events. However, we have gotten a reputation for being wild party girls, which we are trying to work on. |
Hey RedHotChiO,
Where is your school located. The names sounds familiar; is it a private lutheran school. Hootie |
Bringing this one to the top again.
Hootie |
hootie-You have probably found this out by now since your question was posted months ago but Oglethorpe is a private college in Atlanta. Fairly small (a little over 1000 undergrads) I'm not sure of the religous affiliation if any.
|
Heather is right. Oglethorpe is in Atlanta. We have no religious affiliation, although I believe that Oglethorpe was originally started as a presbyterian school. Sorry I never replied. I wasn't really keeping up with the message boards.
|
Thought I'd bring this up again for any new people out there!
P.S.- I use to be ISU-XO but Memphis, TN????? No- don't know how that got there! Hootie- I changed my user name because I could not get into ISU_XO anymore. Can you get in and change it from Memphis to Connecticut? Thanks! Sue |
University of Oklahoma (Yay Sooners!) Epsilon Alpha Our House
There are 11 sororities here. I'm not sure which houses we affiliate with the most (probably Beta) because we have functions and activities with most of them every year. We have an awesome reputation here!!! We are one of the "Top 5" houses and have 87 new Hooties this fall!!! We are also the top house in scholarship and just set a new OU Greek GPA record! I am so proud of us! |
Hi Soonergal!
Thanks for the update at your school and for posting! We hope to hear more from you and if you have a chance, check out "Hooties" on MSN too! LICO, Sue |
Ok, here goes:
1. Lambda Delta Chapter, Kent State University!!!!!!! 2. Sororities: Chi O, Delta Gamma, Alpha Phi, Alpha Xi Delta, Delta Zeta, Tri-Sigma, Phi Gamma Pi (a local, which was once very active but I do not think exist anymore.) Fraternities: Delta Tau Delta, Sigma Chi, SAE, Theta Chi, DU, Phi Kappa Tau, TKE, Sig Ep, Phi Delt, Delta Chi, Sigma Nu, Sigma Tau Gamma, ATO, AEPi, Phi Sig, and I think that is it. 3. We went through phases when I was there....we always hung out with the 3 top frats (Delt, SX, SAE) but there was a VERY strong Phi Delt contingent. We had a really heavy SAE phase in which I was one of the worst groupies of all!!!!!! But those were really fun times. As for the sororities, there was always a pretty intense rivalry (ok, vile hatred) between us and Alpha Phi. There was a sort of friendly rivalry between us and DG, but for the most part we got along with them well....our friendship centered around a big house that was all Chi Os and DGs living together. I personally was not a big DG girl, I was rather disliked at that house because I had a propensity for (ahem) dating guys who used to date DGs who weren't quite....(ahem) done with them yet (my husband being one of them!!!!!) 4. When I was in school, the top 3 were us, DG and Alpha Phi. Everyone had a different opinion as to which one was THE best, we all pretty much were equal. We all 3 were pretty much thought of as having all the beautiful girls with money. But the XOs were thought of as the nicer girls, cooler and more laid back than the others. The guys actually LIKED us as people and not just as potential scores. |
1. Where do you/did you go to school?
University of Louisville 2. How many Sororities and Fraternities are there on your campus? 6 sororities, 11 fraternities--- Chi Omega, Delta Zeta, Sigma Kappa, Kappa Delta, Alpha Omicron Pi, Pi Beta Phi Phi Kappa Tau, Sigma Alpha Epsilon, Tau Kappa Epsilon, Delta Upsilon, Sigma Chi, Beta Theta Pi, Pi Kappa Alpha, Triangle, Sigma Phi Epsilon, Lambda Chi Alpha, Kappa Sigma 3. Which Fraternities/Sororities do you affiliate with most? Well, since our sister sorority at the present moment is Delta Zeta.......they are sweeties! The majority of us hang out with Phi Taus, TKE's, SAE's and the Sigma Chi's 4. What do you think our reputation is like on your campus?!?! Alot of guys say that we have the most pretty women, and we are very competitive. We win almost every fraternity week, and we do SO MUCH for the community. I would say that we are #1 on our campus hands down....hehehe :D :D :D Of course, I am kinda partial....lol ULChiOCutie |
Just Thought You'd Like To Know!
I'm not a Chi Omega, so I'm sorry to 'crash' your thread, but I want to let you know that your chapter at Clemson University has a great reputation. Two sisters live in my building, and they are absolute sweeties! I actually know girls in five Chi Omega chapters here in South Carolina and they're all top notch! :) I'm a ZTA here at Clemson, and we have a joint crush party with Chi O every fall...let's just say the girl-guy ratio is DEFINITELY in our favor on those nights. Last year it was absolutely PACKED with guys - and we had so much fun! Thanks for letting me put my two cents in our your board, and congrats on such great sisterhood!

Well, I don't think i've answered this thread yet..and since i'm at work and procrastinating studying..why the heck not :)
1. Where do you/did you go to school? University of New Mexico 2. How many Sororities and Fraternities are there on your campus? 4 sororities- Chi Omega, Pi Beta Phi, Alpha Chi Omega, Kappa Kappa Gamma 10 fraternities-Kappa Sigma, Sigma Chi(Currently suspended charter until 1/02), Fiji, Lambda Chi Alpha, Pi Kappa Alpha, Sigma Phi Epsilon, Phi Delta Theta, Sigma Alpha Epsilon, Lambda Theta Phi & Omega Delta Phi 3. Which Fraternities/Sororities do you affiliate with most? We basically are all over the place, at one point when I was an active we had someone promised/engaged/lavaliered by a guy from every house..Also, in the past year, all the fraternities that HAD sweethearts, were all Chi-O's..I was mostly a kappa sig/fiji/pike girl..most of the girls are now fiji/sae/sig ep I think.. As for sororities..we all had a bit of a rivalry, but us and Pi Phi got along the best.. 4. What do you think our reputation is like on your campus?!?! Chi Omegas are definately respected, the currently student body president is a Chi-O, along with other members of the student senate..we were the only chapter during recruitment this year that made quota PLUS, and generally we win a lot of awards and whatnot... |
Freshman, Tau Theta chapter at William Woods University in Fulton, Mo
2 fraternities on campus, Pikes and Fijis, 4 soroities chi omega, alpha chi omega, delta gamme and alpha phi we usually hang out with the pikes, but there is another college, Westminster about 2 blocks away and they have six fraternities, Delta Tau Delta, KA, SAE, Sig Chi, Phi Delts and the Beta's, and we hang out there a lot, with all of them. OUr reputation on campus is Definitley the classy girls on campus. our house is the most diverse, from the partier to the athletes but we always carry ourselves well. Just today, valentines day, the pikes dropped off a valentine to us and in it , they said " love may be blind, but we are not, we can see that the ladies of Chi Omega are the most Loving, Honest and Respectable girls on campus". How sweet!! Our house had the most COB's after rush this year, because even after rush the independent girls could see that we are the best! |
MidgetXO!
Welcome to GreekChat! We're so happy to have a new face! Hootie Chi Omega Forum Co-Moderator P.S. What a wonderful thing for the Pikes to say about your chapter! |
yay owls!

Just bringing this to the top for all of our new Chi Os on the board!! It's a good 'getting to know you' thread!! :)

SigmaChiCard (Cory) is the greatest guy EVER!!!!
haha. Hey Jordan...you forgot to log out from the laptop. |
1)I go to the University of Oregon.
We have nine sororities, including Chi Omega. The others are: Pi Beta Phi, Delta Gamma, Alpha Chi Omega, Kappa Delta, Sigma Kappa, Gamma Phi Beta, Alpha Phi, and Kappa Kappa Gamma. Our fraternities on campus are: Sigma Phi Epsilon, Sigma Chi, Beta, Theta Chi, Pikes, SAE, Lambda Chi, Sigma Nu, Delta Tau Delta, Delta Upsilon, Delta Sig, Kappa Sig, AE Pi, Chi Psi 2)My house associates most with Sigma Chi, Betas, and Theta Chi because girls in my house date a lot of guys in those houses. Also we do a lot with SAE because they are our next door neighbors (and they're hot too!) The Pikes live right across the street but supposedly there is tension between our two houses right now because of some pranks they pulled on us etc. So we need to work on rebuilding the relationship. 3)On campus, we are known as friendly, intelligent and down to earth. Guys in fraternities (and not as well) have said that we are "girlfriend/wife material..the house they want to date." We are definitely one of the best houses on campus. We are very diverse as well. |
1) I go to the University of Oregon
2) There are nine sororities here including Chi O. The others are: Delta Gamma, Pi Beta Phi, Kappa Delta, KKGamma, Gamma Phi Beta, Alpha Chi Omega, Sigma Kappa, Alpha Phi, The fraternities are: SAE, Sig Ep, Pikes, Theta Chi, Sigma Chi, Beta, Sigma Nu, Kappa Sig, Delta Tau Delta, Delta Upsilon, Chi Psi, AEPi, Lambda Chi, 3) We associate the most with Beta, Sigma Chi and Theta Chi because girls in my house generally tend to date guys from those houses. We also do a lot with SAE because they are our next door neighbors! :) Um the Pikes live across the street but we don't do much with them because there is tension between our two houses from something stupid a long time ago. We don't affiliate much with any particular sorority...each of the sororities kind of has a rivalvry with one another. 4) On campus we are definitely one of the top 3 houses. Opinion varies on the top three but we are always included in there. THe others are usually either DG and Alpha Phi or DG and Pi Phi...each house here has there own reputation. We are known as very friendly, intelligent, down to earth girls and are very diverse and active in school/community as well. We are almost always 2nd in grades (behind Pi Phi) and are above the all campus average every term. Guys have said we are the "girlfriend/wife material house..the girls they want to take home to meet their family." |

I go to the University of South Florida (Go Bulls)
We have seven sororities: Alpha Delta Pi, Alpha Omicron Pi, Delta Gamma, Delta Delta Delta, Kappa Delta, Sigma Delta Tau and of course Chi Omega. I am not quite sure of the fraternities. We are mainly associated with the Sig Ep's. our house that is being built will be next door to them. I really have no idea how the other sororities view us since we use to be small but are now HUGE :) We are seen as the smart nice girls |
Mercer University (Psi Gamma Chapter!)
4 sororities: Chi Omega, Phi Mu, Alpha Gamma Delta, and Alpha Delta Pi 8 fraternites: SAE, Pi Kappa Phi, Lambda Chi, Sigma Nu, Phi Delts, KA, ATO, Kappa Sig We have 75 girls in our chapter, with a 2002 pledge class of 25 girls! We hang out with all the fraternities. We are all really fun outgoing girls. So, whenever you find 2 or more of us together, you know we are there! We love to have a good time, and you will always find us anywhere there is fun going on! We have a big rivalry with the Phi Mus, because our chapters are very similar. But in the end, everybody loves a Chi O! |

Newbies please fill out the info!

Wow...what a neat thread!
1. I go to Austin Peay State University in Clarksville, TN.
2. We have three NPCs on campus: ADPi, Chi-O, Alpha Sigma Alpha. We also 5 IFCs: Sigma Phi Epsilon, Sigma Chi, Alpha Gamma Rho, Kappa Sigma, Pi Kappa Alpha. 3. I think the XO's have a special fondness for Kappa Sigs, but we hang out with everybody. 4. I think our reputation is the sorority that everybody wants to be a part of! I have also heard people refer to XO as "aloof" or not very talkative to nonmembers... but whatever... i talk to everybody!! LOL |
