GC ADPi Christmas Card Exchange

Yes, I know that it's a *little* early (what can I say, I'm procrastinating right now! :p), but I thought I'd start to gauge everyone's interest in exchanging cards again this year.

What do you all think?

adpi*violet 11-07-2006 07:58 PM

I'm in!

honeychile 11-07-2006 09:38 PM

Count me in!

Question: Can this be ecards as easily as snail mail ones?

nauadpi 11-07-2006 09:41 PM

I am in!

So glad to see our Newbie here!!!

EXiADPi 11-08-2006 06:55 PM

I want to do it. I need some love sometimes after 4 and 5 day trips and I heart christmas.

polarpi 11-08-2006 09:07 PM

As it sounds like interest is there, I'll volunteer to keep the "list" of addresses - and I think e-cards are acceptable as well (unless anyone has an objection).

If you want to participate, go ahead and PM me your information, and I will send the list out as the time draws nearer - but not any earlier than the 1st of December ;)

ASUADPi 11-08-2006 11:15 PM

Me in!

Petals I'm so excited to "see" you!!!!!!!

sdsuchelle 11-08-2006 11:15 PM

Personally, I don't like the idea of ecards, because they're less personal/fun than regular cards. :-/

I want to send snail mail ones! With a candy cane inside!

Also.. I think for Christmas I am going to send out anonymous cards to ADPi alumnae in my area (that I don't know). I dunno, I just think it'd be nice for women to see that there's still a sorority bond, no matter how old they are. Is it too creepy, or should I do it?

I have to say, what a great idea! Although I'd probably be like

"Pi Love, Brianna" LOL

I always buy them for the tree, eat half the box, hang the rest... and end up eating them all off the tree by Christmas day.

:-/

lyrica9 11-09-2006 02:20 AM

i'm thinking about doing cards this year...

polarpi 11-23-2006 02:28 PM

All right, ladies....

I know today is Thanksgiving, yet I'm thinking ahead a little and trying to keep the idea going! I would like to try to get all those interested in participating to PM me their address (either physical and/or email) by Dec. 10. So far, I've heard from:

honeychile
sdsuchelle
petals
nauadpi
ASUADPi
adpi*violet
EXiADPi
VAgirl18
ForeverDiamond
ADPiShannan

Keep the info coming - I think this is going to be a GREAT year! :)

(and Jennie, I'm not going to bother PMing you because you know my address! Just throw it on there!)

FD - your message gave me a good chuckle! :) I'll add you to the list

polarpi 12-09-2006 11:10 PM

Bump!

All right, I've PMed those with the addresses I've collected so far who've mentioned their interest in participating. If anyone else is interested, please PM me your address and I'll get it out to our sisters! :)

L&L, polarpi

honeychile 12-15-2006 11:43 PM

Mine are finally In The Mail!!!!

As an Official Elf of the guy in red, I have again blindly placed an Alpha Delta Pi sticker on two of my Christmas Cards on the BACK of the sealed envelopes. This means that the sisters with the ADPi sticker on the back of the envelope will win a special ADPi Prize - but you must post it here! Oh, in the spirit of fairness, I did remove past winners before putting them face down and slapping on the old stickers.

Good luck, everyone!

Now you' ve got me intrigued (and hoping it arrives before I leave school for break)!

polarpi 12-16-2006 08:15 PM

Honey's prizes are awesome - I have mine in plain sight so I can see it everyday! :)

Glad everyone's having a pretty great holiday season!

adpi*violet 12-16-2006 11:08 PM

polarpi- I hope you get your card from me eventually. I sent it to your old po box on accident! Sorry.

That really blesses me!! I keep an eye out for "ADPi gifties" year 'round for occasions like these!

Petals, when do you go home?

No worries - we'll be putting in a change of address to the PO soon anyways, so right now it's good to go! :)

petals 12-17-2006 04:36 PM

I go home on Wednesday, honeychile... I'll be obsessively checking my mailbox 'til then.

LOL! I don't even check myself to see who's getting them! Even though I didn't go to PSU (too many relatives there!), I do love how beautiful the area is. Have you gotten over to Whipple Dam yet? If so, many of the cottages on the road to the Dam are owned by my extended family (my dad's side).

petals 12-17-2006 09:45 PM

You know, I haven't had a chance to get down there... I'm sure it's even prettier with some snow, though based on this week's weather, it doesn't look like that'll be happening any time soon (and I've heard it's been even warmer in Pittsburgh!)

And on a side note... seeing your address for the exchange, it happens that I was just in your area over Thanksgiving, honeychile. Small world!

ME! ME! ME! ME!

I'm such a dork.

You don't understand, I've had a horrible day and this just put a huge smile on my face and picked me up so much. (I'm crying).

Thank you Honey!!!

You got a sticker?! YIPPEEE!!!!!! I'm trying to get to the Post Office by tomorrow *cross fingers*!!!!!

EXiADPi 12-19-2006 01:00 PM

I had all the cards sent to my parents house so we won't know if I'm a winner until I get around to getting down to Tucson. Yes I know I could fly down since that is what my airline does or just drive there but I feel like it. Right now I don't want to see another airplane. It was a stressful week at work and is only going to get worse because we are inching closer to Christmas and many unhappy people. I work Dec 22-27. It's going to be fun. Hopefully I can get my cards done today since I got none of them done on my short overnights. I only got my FAA mandated 8 hours which boils down to 5 hours of sleep eventhough I need 10 after 5 flights.

polarpi 12-20-2006 11:38 PM

Gee, FD, I can't imagine what that could be....;)

You can always do what my parents are - make it the first greetings of the New Year! My mom's sending out letters to our family and friends along the lines of "Well, we blew Christmas, but here's some Happy New Year wishes!" :D

honeychile 12-21-2006 11:10 AM

Bri - you're going to get a kick out of how your giftie is wrapped! Just remember what I do, and that I'm wrapping this at work! :D

petals 12-21-2006 09:00 PM

honeychile, I got your card about an hour before I left to go home-- nice job at timing that, because I think that I'm the second lucky lady with a sticker!

All of this mail right around finals week was such a great pick-me-up... not to mention all of my roommates think that I'm the most popular girl in Happy Valley now. So thank you, ladies! What a great idea this was.

Woo Hoo! If it's a lion sticker, you're the second winner! Do you want me to wait until you're back in school to send your giftie, or ??? PM me, if you'd like.

BobbyTheDon 12-26-2006 04:54 PM

Bobby they weren't on our final list with addresses. :(

But if you have their addresses I'll send them one (albeit belated). I love sending Christmas cards :D.

We can call it the "happy new year card", since they don't actually make cards that just say "happy new year".:D

HBADPi 01-05-2007 06:28 PM

Yes I didnt sign up for the exchange but apparently according to some people, among the requirements for this card exchange was to be christian and to know how to "appreciate" a christmas card. I love how ignorant some people can be...

ASUADPi 01-05-2007 08:47 PM

ADPiShannan- Where is my card? LOL. :D

Since this is an old thread, I just wanted to say that I hope everyone had a great holiday season!!!!!!
