What is/was your GPA?

I wanted to get a sampling of people's GPAs, whether current or upon graduating.

My overall was 3.65; within my major was 3.85.

SigKapSweetie 11-06-2006 12:23 PM

Mine was a 3.9 when I was accepted to med school in October of my senior year, and a 3.8 when I graduated that May.

ShyViolet 11-06-2006 05:44 PM

4.0 - when I graduated in Dec. 2003. :D

We didn't have anything like that for my masters, as it was essentially fail, pass or distinction (and distinction is near impossible), and all assessed work was on a 20.0 point scale.

SoCalGirl 11-06-2006 08:00 PM

Good enough to get me the diploma! :D

AchtungBaby80 11-06-2006 08:53 PM

Undergrad--3.6, Graduate--4.0

See what I can do when I don't have to take those silly required Accounting and Algebra classes? ;)

Ditto!

neosoul 11-06-2006 10:00 PM

undergrad: cum 2.8
grad: 4.0... might drop to a -.005 if this I don't blow my stats teacher...

AUDeltaGam 11-06-2006 10:34 PM

Undergrad: 3.36
Grad: 3.81 (so far...I'm in my second year, btw)

REE1993 11-06-2006 10:53 PM

These responses really make me happy, because there are so many negative stereotypes of Greeks.

As far as "good enough to graduate", I agree that it is a huge achievement. I don't know dropout rates for undergraduates, but college isn't easy, and committing yourself to yout GLO and other activities (as I saw that many Greeks were active in many activities and clubs at my schools), is no small task.

BTW, SigKapSweetie, did you end up going to medical school? If so, what was your specialty? I was a boring English & Journalism major, but I always loved biology and especially genetics.

This made me LOL so hard. What are you pursuing a grad degree in?

carnation 11-06-2006 11:41 PM

B.S.-3.17! M.S.-3.5! Ph.D.-3.8!

ShyViolet 11-07-2006 08:56 AM

^ How do you get a GPA for your PhD? Must be a totally different system, as we either get it (with minor corrections or 3 month corrections from the viva) or don't.

health care management... I'm still waiting for the memo from the head of the department 'splaining why statistics is a necessary class... still haven't got it yet...

jubilance1922 11-07-2006 12:01 PM

I graduated with a 2.8 as a chemistry undergrad (which was good enough to get me into a great grad school).

As a master's student I graduated with a 3.3 .

Our GPAs are recorded on transcripts and reported to the department and graduate school. We can access our GPAs on line, too. It's only to ensure that no student is struggling to get the minimum 3.0 requirement to continue in the program. That's the ONLY reason your GPA for many PhD programs is remotely important. Almost no employer will EVER ask you what your GPA was for your PhD and people with an understanding of what graduate school is about (for their field) won't report it on their curriculum vitae/resume`.

GPAs in general don't matter unless you have to submit a transcript to a school, organization, or employer that cares about GPAs.

AGDee 11-07-2006 11:52 PM

3.72 undergrad

When I had to drop out of grad school (because my daughter arrived on the scene), I was carrying a 3.72 in grad school

I always thought that was weird.. like.. is that the only GPA I was ever going to have? I also wondered if I was just going to get that no matter how much or how little work I put into it? Hmmm... we'll never know I guess!

KSUViolet06 11-08-2006 01:13 PM

I'm currently at a comfortable 3.75, but I'm an English major. I will readily admit that it's not a difficult major at all. Good enough for me to get into a decent grad school and put me in the running for an assistantship.

Duchovnysfan 11-26-2006 08:49 AM

Undergrad: 3.54
Within Major: 3.55

Wolfman 03-09-2007 10:41 AM

3.3 undergrad, dropped out of first grad school, 3.8 something second grad school.

crimsondanger10 03-09-2007 11:00 AM

Undergrad: 3.49
Grad: 3.8

BTW: We have some smart so-and-so's on GC :D

Scandia 03-09-2007 08:00 PM

BetteDavisEyes 03-10-2007 05:18 PM

PhoenixAzul 03-10-2007 05:23 PM

christiangirl 03-15-2007 12:21 AM

3.36 over in the corner....and a 3.56 in the major!

Luz 04-02-2007 07:24 PM

4.0 in major 3.803 all around so far- we'll see what the final is in May. :D

DeltAlum 04-21-2007 01:08 PM

I really don't remember.

When applying for jobs, nobody has ever asked.

My guess is probably around a 3.0 -- after a 1.6 the first semester. A little too much partying.

RozRochelle 06-03-2007 01:23 AM

My cumulative GPA was good enough for me to graduate, and just doing that took all I had thanks to a hellified mystery illness that was eventually diagnosed as SLE (Systemic Lupus Erythematosus).

RedVelvet 06-03-2007 10:07 PM

4.0 undergrad!

neosoul 06-03-2007 10:19 PM

hmmm grad GPA cum is 3.4

AUDeltaGam 06-03-2007 10:26 PM

squirrely girl 06-03-2007 11:30 PM

undergrad - 3.5 someting

Live_Wire17 06-04-2007 12:20 AM

undergrad = 3.7
grad = 3.94
current grad (2nd Master's) = 4.0

AlwaysSAI 06-06-2007 04:10 PM

Currently, I Have a 3.2 overall.
I don't know how to locate my GPA within my major on Genie. Huh. It can't be lower than a 3.0 cuz I've gotten a nothining lower than a B in all my teacher ed. courses.

And, oh, by the way, teacher ed is NOT easy. It's a lot of work. (just debunking the stereotype-"Those who can't do, teach")

BetteDavisEyes 06-08-2007 12:58 PM

Grades were posted at La Verne yesterday and I am pleased to say that I have maintained my 4.0 in grad school. YAY! :)

I completely agree with you b/c my teacher ed program is the most difficult and intense program. Just to get a credential here in California, I have had to take the CBEST, all 3 sub-sections of the CSET, 3 TPA's (Teacher Performance Assessments), the RICA exam, and my professional portfolio along with 2 sections of student teaching in both upper and lower grades.

Me too! ASA 101 was so much more fun and interesting than Math and Science 101. But I went and got a masters degree to kind of balance that out and graduated with a 3.6

KillarneyRose 06-30-2007 02:44 AM

Around 3.8 overall and 4.0 in my major. If I like something, I tend to be really good at it. Or maybe it's if I'm really good at something, I tend to like it. Something like that!

Soliloquy 07-13-2007 04:08 AM

I have a 3.5 (double major with a minor).

Thanks to my recent 4.0 during summer school!!!!!! I AM SO FREAKING HAPPY!

My first 4.0 at the collegiate level, and during one of the most challenging English classes with one of the toughest professors on campus.

I am so estatic that I can't sleep... obviously... hehe :D:D:D:D:D:D:D

AUDeltaGam 07-13-2007 12:25 PM

I finished my Master's degree with a 3.77 GPA :)

Man, I hear you on that one.

I didn't have a major disease, but a bad reaction to a medication I was on sent me home a semester with a couple withdraw-fails on my transcript. And then I just couldn't get out of that "hole" for the next couple semesters--school + trying out new meds for a chronic migraine problem = GPA sudden death and a couple other semesters where I had to withdraw before they ended.

Luckily, freshman year for me was a 4.0, I never moved beyond "academic probation" or under a 3.0 cum, and I'm headed into what should be my senior year with a 3.27. (I just reached junior status, though.)

Just please for the love of all things holy, don't ask about my in-major GPA!
