Need Information on how to start a Sorority for Nontraditional Student

Does anyone have any information on how to start a sorority? Like books, websites, magazines, etc. I am a nontraditional student who like to join a sorority but I am too old to join as an undergraduate. So, instead of trying to join one...I have decided to start one for nontraditional students who always wanted to pledge a sorority but it's too late to do it now.

If any one have any information please tell me.

Thanks.

Tonya :D

Why do you think that you are too old? At my first college, a 33 year old guy pledged TKE.

At the school I graduated from, we had sisters who were in their early 20s, and had just started school.

I am in a non-Panhel sorority, though, so you might want to check with your school's Panhel or Greek council. If someone else here knows the answer to the age question, please reply.

Yes, they are for real.

And really, what crest isn't complete without a uterus and upside-down baby?

And what website isn't complete without misspelling "collegiate"?

I thought you were spoofing about the crest. The kangaroo looks like she's getting ready to take a dump.

There are actually two Tri-Kappas, the one aopirose mentioned and a local fraternity at Dartmouth College. No need to shake your head, as neither have anything to do with the Ku Klux Klan.

Feeling left out

I would love to join/start a sorority for my college. But I am an online student, and i planning to transfer to an online student at Liberty University. Due to money problems I have to spend most of my time working to pay for college. So I was wondering if anyone knew about starting up a group for online students?

CutiePie2000 05-22-2007 12:47 AM

Cue the posts about "Gamma Chi", the intarweb GLO.

A few years ago, Epsilon Sigma Alpha started a chapter for the online students at Kaplan College. I have no idea if the chapter is still active or not, but you may wish to contact them for more information about the possibility of opening another online collegiate chapter.

There is also information on 28 community-based sororities at http://www.communitysororities.org They may be of interest to you, although the chapters are comprised of people in the community rather than students at a specific school.

FSUZeta 05-22-2007 08:41 AM

wasn't there a thread a few years back that referenced an online sorority? does anyone remember?

MissLib05 05-22-2007 03:15 PM

....

I have been trying to find one if there is.

AlphaFrog 05-22-2007 03:18 PM

Beta Sigma Phi has online chapters.

And, may I ask, why MUST it be a sorority? Why not a facebook group or something...

MissLib05 05-22-2007 03:25 PM

I would love to start a lot of groups for online students. I just want to take it one thing at a time.

AlphaFrog 05-22-2007 03:29 PM

I'm still mystified as to how you can have an online sorority.

Alright now, everyone meet in the chatroom at 8pm sharp for initiation. Wear your best screenname, and use an appropriate and conservative font. Your e-badges will be hotlinked 2-4 weeks after initation.

Besides, e-hazing is no fun.:p

I somehow doubt Liberty University would approve of that kind of group, even if it's just online. But then Liberty University is practically a cult anyway so...*shrug*

Doesn't the NPC have a Unanimous Agreement about not extending bids to avatars?

..What would an online GLO do? It's not like you can have a house, or really any rules; who would enforce them? Would you meet? Would it just be people in a certain area? Because in that case, community sororities are a good bet.
