LOS ANGELES - Bob Barker is heading toward his last showcase, his final "Come on down." The silver-haired daytime-TV icon is retiring in June, he told The Associated Press Tuesday.

"I will be 83 years old on December 12," he said, "and I've decided to retire while I'm still young."

He'll hang up his microphone after 35 years as the host of "The Price Is Right" and 50 years overall in television.

Though he has been considering retirement for "at least 10 years," Barker said he has so much fun doing the show that he hasn't been able to leave.

I saw this earlier and wondered whether TPIR would find another host (but really, who could adequately replace the TPIR icon?!?) or end the show. I see positives and negatives both ways. I'm on the fence for now.

PLEASE HONOR BOB BARKER BY HAVING YOUR PETS SPAYED OR NEUTERED.

I love him for saying that at the end of each show. For real.

I vote for Godfrey from MTV and various reality shows. (To be the next host.)

He needs some respectable work. lol

And anyway, the show hasn't been the same since Rod Roddy passed away.

Even if they find a replacement....where in the world are they going to find another skinny microphone? Bob owns the last one made in history.

I also love him for donating to animal shelters every year. I think, but am not sure, that he has adopted animal shelter mutts in the past.

The Price is Right is still on TV?

Somebody needs to take a sick day.

Sadly, tragically true.

But even when I take a sick day, I can only take about 10 minutes of daytime TV before I feel even more sick, and I never liked The Price Is Right.

For me, sick days either mean videos/DVDs, a book, or sleep.

I know!!!!!! Hmm...maybe instead of seeing the Ellen deGeneres Show, i'll go down and try to get on The Price is Right :D

I love Bob! Nobody can replace him so I hope TPIR ends when he retires. It just won't be the same! I've always wanted to be at a taping too, but I'll never get to see one now...:(
