WE Network's Hair Trauma

Soror Moderator, I did a search to make sure that this had not posted before and I didn't find anything.

Have any of you seen this show?! They had a marathon last night and I was crackin' up! Read below for a description.

MEET THE LAVARS
Being a celebrity stylist and salon owner is not all glitz and glamour. Family drama erupts with Ellin LaVar, her sister Kim, and brother Jeffery, who are part of her staff. Can Ellin keep things under control while taking care of her clients, including tennis star Venus Williams?

More information on the show is included below: http://www.we.tv/article?CID=key=780&tzOffset=0

I so wish I had the WE channel

Gina1201 10-27-2006 07:57 PM

Yes, Ellin and her family are nuts. My favorite episode so far is with the crazy assistant.

whiteandblack 10-27-2006 08:12 PM

was that assistant for real? It seemed staged or she just had a lot of gall.

Honeykiss1974 10-27-2006 09:06 PM

I've only seen the episode with the weirdo assistance (and watched Serena get her weave worked on. I hope these people are not the ones responsible for her hot mess of hairstyles :( ) and i thought it was ok. Not sure if I will tune in on the regular though

Yes, yes, yes! She was insane! My sister and questioned if that was for real or not, but we believe it was just because people are on the short bus like that.

Did you all see how much these people are paying for their weaves?! Let's say a whopping $1,200!

Okay, and I flipped when Elllin put the wrong hair in that girl's head. She must be making GREART money because she didn't even flip when she (Ellin) had to repurchase the hair out of pocket. It wouldn't be me.

I have the WE channel, and have never heard of this show:confused:
I'm going to have to check it out. I see it comes on television on Wednesday nights at 10pm ET. Sounds interesting

RedAngel 10-29-2006 07:37 PM

I checked it out for the first time yesterday and I thought it was interesting.
They were planning the mother's 65th birthday party at the bowling alley and had invited the family and friends. I especially liked the expression on one of the granddaughter's face when she had to take out those micro-braids out of grandmother's hair! I didn't realize the show focused on one particular salon----I thought it was a variety of different salons.

ChanelLover 10-29-2006 10:10 PM

Today was my first time seeing the show and it wasn't bad. That assistant, honey what were you thinking going on t.v. cutting a fool. She had the nerve to come back late on from lunch and what was up with asking everyone what they were and where their people were from.

I almost died laughing when she asked them not to snap at her:D :D due to a tramatic situation in the past....

Right. She was just TOO perfect on her interview so you knew something was up.

nikki1920 10-31-2006 11:57 AM

The assistant was a nutcase..
Kim is a lil touched too.. lol
Did ya'll see the first one, when she hired one of her clients to renovate the bathroom? And then flipped out when the contractor dipped out WITH her 69,000 check?

OMG I was dying!!!
GREAT GREAT GREAT show...

but pLEASE stop braiding Susan Taylor's hair that tight..

JustMyself 10-31-2006 07:00 PM

The funniest episode i've seen was when they were interviewing for the assistant position and the guy that they were interviewing stated that he didn't like to listen to female's problems when he was doing their hair. He said, "I don't want to talk about why your man is leaving you. I want to talk about why your hair is leaving you and how we gon' get it back". I was cracking up! :D

Yes, yes, yes...that was off the chain! Now, something wasn't quite right about this dude?

nikki1920 11-01-2006 06:16 PM

VERY!!

But I liked Charles.. he seemed normal... well, compared to the other applicants...

still chuckling at "don't snap at me.. traumatic incident in the past" comment.

Tonight is the night!

Is it just me or does Ellin's brother's wife look about twenty years his senior. I understand that she had a stroke, but she looks more like his mother, not wife.

I was thinking she looks a little bit older also. However, it could also be her weight. With some people, weight can add years to your face. I know when I was heavier, people thought I was older.

I guess I'm doomed then! :)

I think her hair could age her too. It's beautiful but she needs to cut that stuff.

I missed Wednesday's episode, durn it.

Caught Up Last Night

I haven't stayed current with the show, but they showed two episodes last night that I caught.

In one episode, there were tons of hair disaters. That one girl had gotten a horrible weave job and hair was falling out all over the place. That was so off the chain I couldn't believe it.

The other episode was about Ellin's boyfriend. I like that the fact that she's dating a regular guy. I think stars have a tendency of looking over th regular people at times.

delph998 11-16-2006 12:44 AM

Did anybody see tonight's episode?! It was soooo good. Ellin snapped out on the show. It was so hilarious.
