Is your school/GLO in wikipedia and urban dictionary?

Both my school and fraternity are listed in wikipedia and urbandictionary. I've found some funny definitions under other schools and GLOs. I won't repeat them, I don't want to be mean. :)

KillarneyRose 10-19-2006 06:48 PM

Yep, my school and my GLO are in both Wikipedia and Urban Dictionary.

I'd never visited Urban Dictionary before and I almost fell over laughing when I read one poster's claim that he "once gave a Delta Zeta a rose.....and she slit my throat with the thorns.....just to watch me die." Hehehehe! I think that may have been my junior year roommate :P

Ditto.

Scandia 10-19-2006 07:09 PM

All the schools I have attended have entries at Wikipedia. And so does A Phi O.

Haven't checked the Urban Dictionary yet.

Senusret I 10-19-2006 07:31 PM

1. georgetown
99 up, 51 down

The best overall university in the United States--well-adjusted, smart, ambitious, good-looking, socially aware, and involved students come from across the country and the world to attend this great university. No better place for an undergraduate experience.

Too bad you couldn't get in to Georgetown--don't worry, the Ivy League, Duke and Stanford aren't that bad.

1. Alpha phi alpha
37 up, 16 down

The first and the finest of all Black Greek Fraternities that was founded in 1906 on the campus of Cornell University. They are sexy, sophisticated, involved in their communities and smart as hell. Especiaslly those Bad BoyZZ of the Zeta Zeta chapter!!

A: I love Alpha men!
B: Me too they are sexy!

BetteDavisEyes 10-19-2006 07:39 PM

The definition of my GLO in urban dictionary actually made me laugh b/c they are funny.
Wikipedia got the basic info though.

aephi alum 10-19-2006 07:45 PM

AEPhi is on both. For some strange reason, MIT isn't on Urban Dictionary.

Quote:

1. alpha epsilon phi
26 up, 42 down

only the hottest sorority on the UA campus.

Man those AEPhi girls are hot shit.
Yep, I'd agree with that. :) ;) :D

Well you know..."Hell hath no fury" (and he probably deserved it)...I am sure she took her Shakespeare seriously or something.
;)

GeekyPenguin 10-20-2006 12:23 AM

So the urban dictionary for Marquette has me laughing so hard I'm crying.

Sister Havana 10-20-2006 01:22 AM

"Known as the best school in Indiana, as to Purdue Community College which is the worst."

HAHAHAHAHA! :D

KillarneyRose 10-20-2006 06:47 AM

Question about Urban Dictionary regarding that area where it says however many "up" and however many "down". Does that mean that there are more entries to read? If so, how do I get to them? I was clicking all over the place, but nothing happened.

Thanks!

Senusret I 10-20-2006 07:00 AM

I just think it's a rating system.... if you liked it, you can click the thumbs up and the number will go up.

Dionysus 10-20-2006 09:51 AM

Yes, it's just a rating system. Some terms do have more than one definition, but they are on the same page.

adpiucf 10-20-2006 10:19 AM

Well, I've always referred to my alma mater as
U Can't Finish (it is virtually impossible to graduate)

but Urban Dictionary has a delightful new twist on the UCF acronym....

Unbelievably
Crappy
Football

Yep... that about sums up this season...

Gosh, and here I was, trying to be classy and not bring up the Pitt/UCF game!

Ditto. "Sinfonian" is as well.

KSUViolet06 10-20-2006 11:07 AM

The top definition for Kent:

1. Kent State 43 up, 17 down

A gathering place for under-achievers between the ages of 18 and 31, located on the site of a former National Guard shooting range.

"I don't know what I want to do with my life, man, but my moms wants me to get me an education so I'm gonna chill for a while at Kent State."

There's only one definition for Sigma, and I think it's a little biased:

Sigma Sigma Sigma 15 up, 8 down

This elite Sorority was founded on April 20th, 1898 in Farmville, VA. Classy and beautiful, Sigma Sigma Sigma women are what all other women strive to become. Other sororities may try to emulate the high standards of the Tri Sigs but, in the end, fail miserably.

Though each campus attracts different types of women, one thing remains the same: Tri Sig ladies are the real deal.

Potential Member 1: I didn't get a bid from Sigma Sigma Sigma.
Potential Member 2: *sobs* Me neither.
Tri Sig: We have standards.

33girl 10-20-2006 11:15 AM

Well according to UrbanDictionary, the girls at Longwood (the closest entry to ASA) are still partying w/ the boys @ Hampden Sydney - just like in our founding history. LOL.

DeltAlum 10-20-2006 11:54 AM

Delt is in both. 10 up/8down -- something about being well endowed. What kind of joke is this thing anyway? Urbandictionary, I mean.

Wikipedia is pretty much on the mark, I think.

Ohio University is also in both -- although the second listing in Urbandictionary was written by someone from arch rival Miami of Ohio.

What's the deal with that?

It is ok, honey. once I've graduated from one university, is it too late to disaffilate and join another??? I think Candice is having a lot of fun at Harvard. ;)

FAB*SpiceySpice 10-23-2006 03:59 AM

Mizzou

My school is in both. I loved that the top entry for Mizzou says this:

1.Mizzou 48 up, 27 down

Better than Kansas University

A.I heard the Mizzou tigers won yesterday 17 to 12

B.OMFG!!!w00t!

Hahaha, nice but yeah that about sums it up. :D The rest of the entries talk about our mediocre, and often embarassing, basketball team.

Sister Havana 10-24-2006 12:42 PM

Has anyone tried looking up their handle in urbandictionary? :D

Mine isn't in there!

ETA: However, the definition for my first name reads "the most edible female name." Heh. :)

SigKapSweetie 10-24-2006 12:54 PM

Yes

This is the cold, hard truth:

University of Florida

A school which believes that the students should cater to the needs of the university, as opposed to the univeristy catering to the needs of the students.

I payed the University of Florida 15,000 dollars this semester and they made me move my car so the f*cking alumni could tailgate in my spot.

^^that happened to me every other weekend my freshman year (I lived in the dorm across from the stadium)

ThetaDancer 10-24-2006 01:02 PM

From urbandictionary...

1. cornell 64 up, 26 down

Where hopeful youth go to have their aspirations obliterated. See: antonyms for Disneyworld, Utopia

Neil: "Yo, dude! I'm goin to Cornell!"

Brian: "Can I have your stereo after you jump off the bridge?"

Also in Wikipedia, which pretty much had all of the info right.

macallan25 10-24-2006 03:06 PM

SAE: 25 up 16 down
Sex Alcohol & Ego's, Same Assholes Everywhere. A bunch of rich prep's who are wearing either horses or gators, driving tahoe's, bmw's & lex's. who spend more at the bar in an average night then you earn in a week. Basically you may not like them looking at them from the outside, but you sure as hell wish you could be one.

SAE's might be cocky but they're still gentleman.

tunatartare 10-24-2006 03:11 PM

From Urban Dictionary
Marist
205 up, 38 down
A college in New York attended primarily by white, preppy rich kids from New York, New Jersey, and Connecticut who were popular and social in highschool, making everyone at Marist stuck up and crazy. Located in the sketchy town of Poughkeepsie, commonly called Po-town by Marist students. A Marist student can be identified as a Polo shirt wearing, SUV driving, partier.

Dude, my collar's popped and my ID's fake, let's go to the bar cuz we're Marist students!
