Say What 5

VERY VERY LONG ARTICLE about an unscrupulous pastor in Dallas, TX.

http://www.dallasobserver.com/Issues/2006-09-21/news/feature_full.html (pictures as well)

On judgment day, the bishop's women have all come together in one exquisitely cold place: the 372nd District Court in Fort Worth, where a jury has just agreed on a sentence for the Reverend Terry Hornbuckle.

The 44-year-old pastor has been convicted of drugging and raping three women, two of them former members of his Arlington megachurch. And while a hyperactive air conditioner generates a frigid breeze in the courtroom, a capacity crowd awaits the jury's decision.

The bishop's women are arrayed in various places in state District Judge Scott Wisch's courtroom. There is the wife, Renee Hornbuckle, cocoa-skinned and immaculately finished in a brown pantsuit, who stares an empty stare at her husband, a man known to many of his congregants simply as Bishop.

The bishop wears a tailored suit with a thigh-length jacket, the sort he'd choose for any occasion in the spotlight. For 20 years, he sat beside his wife on a church stage, enthroned like a king with his queen. She was the delicate ornament on display, he was the dark-skinned, street-talking black preacher of humble southern Dallas origins whose charisma landed him in a world of money, minor celebrity and access to the occasional Dallas Cowboy.

To this world he later added the ingredients of sex--with scores of women, judging by the accounts of former church members--and drugs. Today it is about to come crashing down.
Renee sits literally at the bishop's right hand, two rows back. She brings a little purple pillow to cushion her on the wooden bench reserved for the defendant's family. She has sat in precisely the same spot every day through the five-week trial, expressionless behind mirrored glasses. In her hands is a small, green leather-bound Bible with an inscription in tiny gold italics: "Pastor Renee Hornbuckle." She makes no statements to the gathered media; all she's been heard to say is an occasional under-the-breath comment--"I'm gonna need some No-Doz to stay awake through this thing." Mirrored glasses and the Word: These are her shields against an outside world that desperately wants to know why she continues to stand by her man.

When I read about it, I thought that this could be a miniseries or one of those Lifetime movies.

Sick.twisted.triflin' so and so.

The wife and his "friends": they knew
The guy who had the "bishop" to assault his stepdaughter. Too much!

He needs to FRY in hell!

I am still reading this but I agree 1000%. I am just blown away at all this madness. BLOWN.AWAY.:(

ETA: THIS IS DEEP!!

He was so taken by Hornbuckle that he'd play clips of his sermons on the Sunday morning show. Each week, he'd implore his listeners--mostly women--to visit Agape. He became enthralled with the bishop's constant preaching about tithes and the potential wealth that would come to him if he'd just give, give, give a little more of his own money to the church.

Rudy V said he vividly remembers scrounging for change in his 400-square-foot apartment in north Arlington, terrified that something calamitous would happen to him if he didn't come up with his tithe every week.
"If I didn't have that whole tithe," he said, "either I was going to get struck down, or if I got too close to [the bishop] he would get killed."

WOW!!!

AlphaFrog 10-18-2006 11:09 AM

""I'm not done," he said. He grabbed her wrist and guided her back down on the bed. She was having trouble focusing. She felt what she would later describe as the feeling of a tampon being inserted too far into her vagina. She tried to push him off, and he jumped up. As she got up again to get dressed, she says she saw him masturbating. "

I'm wondering what that actually was...since she was a virgin, it could have been him...but they make it seem more like it was some sort of object that he raped her with...(especially after reading the part about the woman whose Dr. found a ring in her abdomen).

It started weighing my spirit down as well. I cannot believe how many people are so strongly lead by another human being. Just because he is a pastor does not mean he cannot be full of mierda.

AKA2D '91 10-18-2006 11:41 AM

I love my pastor and eveything. His messages are GREAT. No one can bring it like he can, but it's not like THAT!

This kneegro had pills, booze, the apartment, etc. It seem like the article had you thinking if he wanted his daughter. What person in their right mind is BATHING their teenage child (unless the child has specific disabilities)?

The comment about the wife and the NO-Doz had me   .

This chit is just too dayum much!

I agree 1000%! Like CT4, I read several of the other articles and all I could do was shake my head.

CrimsonTide4 10-18-2006 02:43 PM

Another part that disturbed me was the woman who after being with him had abdominal pain that lead to the discovery of the pastor's c*ck ring inside her.

AKA2D '91 10-18-2006 02:51 PM

YESSSS!

Abdominal pain from a sex toy left up in you! :o

That's a storyline for Grey's Anatomy!

Police: Boy Murders Twin Brother Over Gum

Sheriff Says Boy Is Remorseful

COLUMBIA, Tenn. -- Authorities in Tennessee say a spat over chewing gum ended with a 14-year-old boy stabbing his twin brother to death.

He's now charged with first-degree murder.

The sheriff's office in Maury County said the twins were arguing when one grabbed a kitchen knife and stabbed his brother in the chest.

Dionysus 10-18-2006 03:30 PM

Over a piece of gum? Sounds like some shortbus kids to me. When guys are 14 they have bigger and better things to fight over...such as girls.

Black and white twins in Australia

I swear, genetics are something else, as shown with these babypeople:

Yes, they are twins
By Elissa Lawrence

October 22, 2006 12:00

A BLACK mother with a white husband has given birth to twin girls of different colours in a million-to-one medical miracle.

In what is believed to be an Australian first, mum Natasha Knight, 35, of Jamaican-English heritage, and father Michael Singerl, 34, of German heritage, conceived the girls, one black and one white, naturally.

The couple also has a five-year-old daughter Taylah, who is blue-eyed with blonde hair and a light olive complexion.

The twins, Alicia and Jasmin, were born in Queensland's Caboolture Hospital in May.

Experts say the chance of twins being born with such different physical characteristics is about a million to one.

Ms Knight said she was shocked when she saw how different her daughters were.

"When they were born you could see there was a colour difference straight away. We couldn't believe it,'' she said.

"Alicia's eyes were brown and her hair was dark. Jasmin's eyes were blue and her hair was white - you could hardly see her hair or her eyebrows.

"We were joking when I was pregnant about what if one baby looked like me and one looked like Michael. We joked about one light one, one dark one, so it was amazing when it actually happened.''

Ms Knight said some people stop and stare when she's out with them.

"When we go out people stop and ask if they are twins. Other people will look but not say anything. Maybe they think I am babysitting one of them,'' she said.

"Someone even asked me if I was sure there wasn't a mix-up at the hospital. But there was no mix-up - they are my girls and they are both so beautiful.

"It will be interesting when they go to school, and they will probably wonder why they look so different from each other. I guess the easiest way to explain it will be to say one took after mum, one took after dad.''

Genetics experts say that in most cases a mixed-race woman's eggs will be a mixture of genes for both black and white skin.

However, much more rarely, the eggs may contain genes for predominantly one skin colour.
In this case, Ms Knight has released two such eggs - one with predominantly dark pigmentation genes and one with predominantly fair genes.

Non-identical twins are conceived when two eggs are fertilised by two sperm at the same time, which has odds in itself of about one hundred to one.

I remember seeing a case like this about 20 years ago in the UK. It was written up in Ebony

CrimsonTide4 10-25-2006 06:36 AM

Isn't this the 2nd case in 2 years? I remember reading about this sometime last year on GC. Adorable babies though:)

I saw a picture of these girls a few months ago, but they were a little older (may 1 year or so older- more hair and walking). They are the cutest little things.

^^ How adorable are they! That's amazing.

They are both soooo cute!!! I wonder if the white twin is actually albino? Where is AKAMonet with the answer to this question?

Drolefille 10-26-2006 09:35 AM

I'm pretty sure that both parents are of mixed race and the twins are fraternal. Just like two kids can have radically different skin colors, two twins can too :)

From the article: Mom is of Jamaican/English heritage (racially mixed) and dad is German (doesn't say)

Light baby has dark eyes so definately not albinism

OrigamiTulip 10-26-2006 09:47 AM

They are so cute!

As an aside, I was wondering if cases like this are going to become more common due to the increase in number of fraternal twins being born as well as the increased number of multiracial couples...

StarFish106 10-26-2006 10:58 AM

Another set of least alike twins

The world's least alike twins. Because of a mix-up at a fertility clinic, the Stuarts have twin boys: one black, one white.

http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/9438648/from/ET/

shinerbock 10-26-2006 11:11 AM

This is a lie. The only thing these kids have in common is that they both look like babies.

Drolefille 10-26-2006 11:39 AM

The first one? It's true they're fraternal twins. The second one I haven't looked at, if it was a fertility clinic oops they'd be at most half-siblings.

shinerbock 10-26-2006 11:51 AM

I don't believe it. That being said, I don't believe in constellations or carbon 14 dating either.

You are indeed confusing. What is so unbelieveable? Have you never seen siblings look disimilar before. Even just between my brother and I, he looks like a Sicilian (was in fact called "Mexican" at school) I apparently look French or German. His skin is very dark in the summer, mine is pale all the time.

shinerbock 10-26-2006 12:49 PM

I'm just kidding. Gee.

Fried Coke

Yes indeed

http://www.cnn.com/2006/US/10/26/fri...ion=cnn_latest

NEW YORK (Reuters) -- A new fast food is making its debut at U.S. fairs this fall -- fried Coke.

Abel Gonzales, 36, a computer analyst from Dallas, tried about 15 different varieties before coming up with his perfect recipe -- a batter mix made with Coca-Cola syrup, a drizzle of strawberry syrup, and some strawberries.

Balls of the batter are then deep-fried, ending up like ping-pong ball sized doughnuts which are then served in a cup, topped with Coca-Cola syrup, whipped cream, cinnamon sugar and a cherry on the top.

"It tastes great," said Sue Gooding, a spokeswoman for the State Fair of Texas where Gonzales' fried Coke made its debut this fall. "It was a huge success."
