Greek Letter Shapes/Patterns

Does anyone know of a site that has the designs/patterns for all the 4-inch size "double" letters? I'm not talking about the fabric choices but the actual outlines of the letter shapes.

Amanda6035,

You are wonderful!

I googled every permutation of the words greek, letter, alphabet, sewn, applique etc and this site didn't pop up.

Thank you so much!

amanda6035 10-14-2006 11:32 AM

the funny thing is, I just found that site a few weeks ago....and when I saw your request I was like "wait a minute - I know just the place!"

Glad I could help :D

indygphib 10-14-2006 01:22 PM

wow!!!

How cool!

I've been looking for letters like this for a while now and with the same (non)results as alum!!! Thanks for posting this!

alum 10-14-2006 02:53 PM

Along these lines, are there any vendors who just sell "loose" letters? I mean unattached to an article of clothing.

amanda6035 10-14-2006 02:57 PM

I know you can buy them on ebay, and the local greek stores around here will sell them to you loose...I dont know about online vendors though. Some of the online vendors I know of are greekgear, greek101, sororityspecialties, greek4me, gonegreek, etc (all are .com)

erica812 10-14-2006 03:02 PM

Yep..."Greek Letters4Life" on ebay. She's a GC-er, too! The letters are iron-on, but you could certainly sew them or embellish them if you wanted. I made my Beta Sigma Phi sweatshirt using Letters4Life back in 2003. It's been washed MANY times, and the letters are just now starting the curl a tiny bit. Lots of fabric choices.:)

Greekopedia 10-14-2006 03:54 PM

those letters are iron-on and they are usually satin stitched or sewed on for greek clothing.

i have them if you want some.

Those online stencils are great! Back in the day, I used to create my own stencils by typing out the letters on the computer (Symbol font for Greek Letters), printing it, tracing it over sheets of plastic and cutting out the stencils, tracing it onto the fabric and then combining the fabric and fuseable web, etc.

Another tip that has served me well--I take an existing set of letters, photo copy them, and make cardboard templates. What is cool about this method is that I can shrink them to make them smaller just by adjusting the copier.

megahotmaureen 01-11-2007 10:54 AM

thanks so much!!! exactly what I was looking for!!

hahah that is how i made my template.. i copied my jersey twice, cut out the forground and the background letters, then transferred them to cardstock... great minds think alike ;]

My D was home this week on Spring Break so we (read I) finally made stitched-letter shirts. I sew pretty well and have a good machine but it still took a long, long time. I was fortunate enough to find fabric with actual 1/8" maroon Greek letters of Pi Beta Phi and 1" silver blue arrows and another fabric with tiny arrows and angel wings.

FYI, the patterns to which amanda6035 provided a link are great. You do have to be enlarge them 107% if you want the letters to be exactly 4" tall.

AEcutiePhi 04-21-2008 01:54 AM

You could buy some greek letters for $6 on www.lettermegreek.com and it includes the background and foreletter (set of 3).

nturner 08-17-2008 07:18 PM

This website seems to have closed down. I can view it cached on Google but my computer won't view it. Does anyone know any other links?

Nturner,

I have the Kappa, Gamma, Pi, Beta, and Phi downloaded from that website if any of those letters help and could fax or email them to you. They are not exactly 4" so you have to enlarge them to get them to the traditional size.

twotimestalia 08-20-2008 07:36 PM

i have all the greek letter stencils

I posted them on my site:

ZetaTauAlpha 09-03-2008 02:56 PM

I tried to go to your web site and pull the letter but was unable. All i saw the actual greek words for the letter. I would really love to have these letters.

alum 09-03-2008 03:07 PM

If you right-click the image of the letter, it will ask you to save it to your computer as a GIF image. I am not techno-savvy at all and I was able to make it work.

ZetaTauAlpha 09-03-2008 05:21 PM

I am not seeing images when I go to the link
iamthysister.com/Greek_letter_stencils.htm

I see a table with the greek words for the letters in each cell. When I try to right click on the words I do not receive the option of saving image as there is no image to save. Please help. Has the link changed?

I reeeaaalllllyyy need to find the actual font that prints these letters. I know that it exists somewhere. I've seen shirts and bags with screenprinted letters like these, and they look awesome - but will cost much less than the sewn letters! I'm willing to pay for the font if anyone has any ideas where to find it. I have a ton of greek-letter fonts, but none that are like these.

Thanks!

LAblondeGPhi 07-15-2009 03:25 PM

Maybe this will help:
http://www.greekhouseoffonts.com/

alum 09-05-2009 07:34 AM

I tried the iamthysister site and it won't load and the localsororities website seems to have an expired domain (is that the right phrase?). I should have downloaded ALL the letter stencils when localsororities had a website but I didn't. Does anyone have the pages with all the letters?

It's called... SYMBOL!!! It should be in your MS Word.

I have Symbol - this is something different. I actually wound up tracing the letters and making Bezier picture boxes out of them. I have a zillion Greek fonts, but none have the right serifs. (And I never touch Word except to read attachments. :) )
