Haha, I'm the same as you, 24%. Thank you New England for breaking sorority stereotypes so much that even I could join a sorority!

Yeah, tell me about it. Do I look like I could afford half the stuff on there? And I just bought my first pointy-toed shoes EVER this past summer, so clearly I never wore heels and/or makeup to class.

Hell I was lucky if I rolled out of bed with enough time to throw on jeans. Jammy pants for the win! Also baseball caps are my best friend.

Drolefille 10-17-2006 09:10 AM

My friends and I described the college shower schedule/wardrobe.

Day 1: Clean. Hair down or pulled back in a cute pony tail, jeans and maybe a nicer T-shirt
Day 2: Slightly grungy. Hair definitely pulled back, Jeans may have given way to sweat pants and a grungier T.
Day 3: Grungy. Hair under a bandanna or cap (depending on your level of "Artsiness". PJs and or sweats. You swear you'll shower tonight but you just didn't have time before

Rinse, Repeat :)

There's no excuse to not wash your azz. The only exception may be for 8:00 classes, which I stopped having after 1st semester Freshman year. Or maybe if you have workouts and dance classes all day but will shower before dinner.

Drolefille 10-17-2006 12:18 PM

Leave my azz out of this :p

I never shower in the morning, I can't get up early enough. Strictly a night showerer here. And we all know that college students are gross.

I definitely understand that especially if its freezing outside.

 I don't know about college students being gross, in general, but I do know some specific students who didn't wash their azzez in the morning or at night.

ufdale 10-17-2006 12:34 PM

lol My friends in other sororities here were told to only appear in sorority gear and letters if they were wearing full makeup and had their hair done. If not, don't reach for letters.
I definetely don't think college students are gross. Sure I've seen a couple of guys on the bus who haven't yet learned what a dryer is for (and reek of moldy clothes), but I think college student look great. Hell people even dress up to go to the gym (pearl earrings and makeup) and I don't think it's just my college.
On the topic of sorority girls, I have several guy friends who can tell from 10 ft away which girls are in sororities and which aren't (when they're not wearing letters). They even make bets on it and can usually even tell which sorority the girl belongs to. Sure it's a little stereotypical, but you wouldn't believe how often they're correct

Drolefille 10-17-2006 12:43 PM

Some of that is going to a southern school. I've NEVER seen pearls in the gym. And no, not all students are gross, but when you're in college you have the tendency have habits ( not cleaning out the fridge, eating something of questionable quality, etc) that seem grosser to you after you're out of school

Neither have I and I've gone to "southern" schools.

I guess some college students can relate to that. :(

SigKapSweetie 10-17-2006 03:08 PM

When I went to UF, there was an overabundance of women at the gym in letters, pearls, and full makeup. I never saw heels, but I'm guessing that's the next step.

tunatartare 10-17-2006 03:09 PM

At my college there were girls who I swear put on full makeup just to go to the gym.

ufdale 10-17-2006 03:12 PM

lol on UF being "southern"
Florida is not terribly "southern" despite it's location as the southernmost state. I'm from South Florida and we don't have all the same traditions or values as the other southern states, or accents (although I love southern accents and wish I had one). Gainesville (where UF is) is considered the cutoff.

SigKapSweetie 10-17-2006 03:16 PM

I think UF's 'southerness' really depends on who you ask. I didn't have a southern accent when I got there, but after four years in Gainesville (and spending time with sorority sisters who did have accents), I acquired a faint one. It was apparently very audible by the end of recruitment every year, and I was routinely teased about it. :p

ETA: I have a (Cuban) friend from Miami, and we joke that Miami isn't 'southern' - it's Cuba!

Drolefille 10-17-2006 03:28 PM

I know Florida isn't southern, but it seems like a "southern school" if that makes sense. Ufdale I'm not ripping on it at all, please don't think so. But the vast majority of students at my Jesuit St. Louis school did not dress up for class/gym/anything they didn't have to. Business students dressed up when they were required to, but that's about it.

And on chapter days we'd wear "badge attire" unless we had chem lab or some other reason we couldn't.

Actually, all of my relatives do too :) But I'm from Central Illinois.

/My grandmother is a Kuckelman

SigKapSweetie 11-17-2006 10:47 AM

I was at Disney this past weekend, and I met another single rider on the Rock 'n Roller Coaster who was from New Jersey. It took her less than five minutes of conversation to ask me where I was originally from, because I have such a distinctive Southern accent. Thanks, ladies. :D

SigKapChatter 09-09-2007 01:01 AM

34%. That seems about right.

audie97890 01-13-2008 11:18 PM
