Boom Boom Cheer
 

Hi ladies!

I've been looking up some cheers on various GC boards and online, and one that keeps coming up for every sorority is called Boom Boom. Everyone mentions how addicting it is and they can't get the tune out of their head. Just wondering, can anyone someone explain how this cheer sounds or direct me to a link where I can hear it? I know that seems unusual, but I can't believe I've never heard such a popular cheer before, and I'm wondering what all the hullaballoo is about. Thanks for your help.

When I was a recruitment counselor, we used to talk about how funny it was that all the chapters on my campus had some sort of "boom boom" song. It wasn't the same song, they all just had some variation of "boom boom" in one of their songs.

For our RC reveal, we all memorized a song from each of the chapters and sang them together. The one for Pi Phi was their "boom boom" song.

Are they referring to "Put Your Foot On the Loud Pedal" - it involves the words "boom boom" and is fairly addictive, lol.

Now various chapters make small changes but that is basically how it goes . . . with snaps or claps

I hoped that helped - I guess some other sororities might do that song/cheer but I only know ours

Pi Phis did this one at my school.

Ours was a round with "Boom-de-ah-da" as the baseline while others sang:

We are the Alpha Gams
That's our sorority

Then all sing after the round is over:

Do all of these cheers sound the same, or do they have different beats?

I would tend to think they all have different beats. :)

We have a song called thunderation that contains the words Boom Boom, I know some other groups must use it as well....

We sang this one:

Ok, this one is really old (circa early 1980's), so I couldn't tell you if they even still use it...

Alpha Phi does a boom boom song at my school. I can't remember the words, but I know it ends like "Al-pha Phi boom boom boom boom" and DEFINITELY sticks in your head.

The other one that sticks in my head even more is:

I don't know the tune, but gosh its soo catchy..but hey i can remember all the lyrics to a song after singing it like twice so I remember most of them:)

We used this, but we had another one that was a variation and I wish I could remember the words. I only remember some, but what I do remember are:

I think they all go to the same toon..atleast the last couple of them (exclude my Kappa cheer)...You could probably make up lyrics for every sorority.

LOLOL!! Sorry, but when you went through rush in 1970, calling something from the early '80s "really old" is just hilarious! I have shoes older...:D
Actually, I think the "boom boom" thing goes back to at least the 1920s or earlier...you know, "rah rah sis boom bah" from the days when students waved a felt pennant at the game. It would be an interesting entymological study.

i remember the ZTAs when i went through rush singing the same song, small differences of course:

with the five point crown above
with the zeta grey and the zeta blue
and the zeta love that's oh so true

Yes, I think we've found the "culprit" song. KDLady06, if you look on the KD website under the file cabinet (private side) it will show you the tune of this song, and most likely the same tune as the other songs, too. :p

One sister I knew from another campus always sang it as "she's might cute, wears go-go boots."

My chapter sang the boom boom song conniebama posted, but we substituted "Hey Hey" for the "Boom Boom" b/c the Tri-Deltas at our school sang a song that went "Ba-doom, Ba-doom, Tri-Delta" and we didn't want to impose. :) UCF is very big on door songs and having the PNMs memorize a song for each chapter.

We do those songs too... but separately at my chapter! :)

The one that would be the "boom" song is "I love the crescent moon..." and that's to that "boom-de-ah-dah" melody.
