~~~~~~>Which FRAT or Soro Is The Best & Why
my sister and i are entering college in 07 (we r twins) and we would like a answer to this question before we go.
SAEalumnus 09-23-2006 02:14 PM
That's a subjective question with no absolute answer.
Every fraternity and sorority has chapters that are stronger or weaker than others, and every campus sees a similar trend among its GLOs. The better question would be: "which fraternity or sorority is the best for YOU and why?" To that end, the only possible answer is to examine the GLOs at the particular campus you'll be going to, and meet the people in each chapter. Then you'll be able to determine which one is best for you.
This will be the best answer that anyone can should give which is more true than you can ever suspect!
First you might want to figure out if you want to join a fraternity OR a sorority...
(sorry, couldn't resist :D )
Brother and Tom;
Both hit it out of the park with your answers.
Well, I don't know if it's fair to say that Tom "hit it out of the park" when it was barely intelligible. Maybe he bunted for a solid single.
You do not "join" a sorority. You are *INVITED* to join one. There is a big difference.
In any case, the GLO that is "best" is the one that is best for you. You should consider groups that have girls that are like you, not girls that you want to become like.
And for what's its worth, one chapter of ABC sorority at State U could be VERY DIFFERENT from their ABC sorority chapter at East Armpit State University. Go with your ears and eyes open and decide for yourself.
Well, to be fair, the 26 women's GLOs in the NPC go by both the name of FRATERNITY and SORORITY (i.e. Alpha Phi Fraternity, Delta Zeta Sorority). So, the originator of the thread is not incorrect in citing those terms.
Elephant Walk 09-23-2006 07:44 PM
You're gay.
Also, I think they need to learn how to start spelling before they decide that they need to go to college. And for godsakes it's not a frat.
BirdDog 09-24-2006 12:23 AM
If it isn't top tier it isn't worth joining.
First things first. Make sure you can spell college before you apply.
GDIfly 09-24-2006 01:14 PM
Ohhh, college. I thought they were going to lie down on a piece of paper and cover themselves with mod-podge.
AUDeltaGam 09-24-2006 02:03 PM
Delta Nu.
It's the ONLY sorority worth joining ;)
Natalie0628 09-24-2006 05:16 PM
Defintely Delta Nu. They have a really famous member - she's lobbied Congress and everything!!
A very good answer, but I have to admit that I keep hearing this exchange:
Dean Vernon Wormer: Greg, what is the worst fraternity on this campus?
Greg Marmalard: Well that would be hard to say, sir. They're each outstanding in their own way.
Dean Vernon Wormer: Cut the horses**t, son. I've got their disciplinary files right here. Who dropped a whole truckload of fizzies into the swim meet? Who delivered the medical school cadavers to the alumni dinner? Every Halloween, the trees are filled with underwear. Every spring, the toilets explode.
Greg Marmalard: You're talking about Delta, sir.
Dean Vernon Wormer: Of course I'm talking about Delta, you TWERP!
Don't the all do those things?
Wolfman 09-26-2006 01:46 PM
The issue of the poster being grammatically-challenged aside, this is a fair question; but there's another aspect to it. Since on some level most GLO orgs do similar things--some better than others on different campuses with varying emphases--what does separate one grop from another. What is it's origins and legacy now? Are the founding principles and traditions in agreement with your values and worldview? As I get older the issue of my Fraternity's values being in concert with mine and actually something that I can follow as a Christian man is important to me. It's more than the "wine, women and song." For some it should mean that they should do some investigation about the history of the fraternity/sorority they may desire to pledge.
honeychile 09-26-2006 02:40 PM
Wolfman, I agree with your thoughts.
I like the sorority with the pretty colors.
Tom Earp 09-26-2006 03:36 PM
My Fraternity is the best.
honeychile's is the best Sorority!
Well being tounge in cheek of course!:D
I would worry more about the content of the post than typoing!:eek:
I love spelling bee champs and those who can type so fast with their eyes closed!:rolleyes:
Delta Who? Delta Nu! Delta, Delta, boogaloo!
Not to mention their incredible alumni connections and ability to mobilize sisters!
Tom Earp 09-27-2006 04:35 PM
:confused:
adpiucf 09-29-2006 11:52 AM
To be fair, the OP is supposedly in high school and doesn't know anything about Greek Life. To someone who hasn't been raised with the system, the words "rush" "sorority" and "fraternity" are completely alien. I think the advice in the first couple of posts was spot on.
There are quite a few possible answers to this question. Simply choose your favorite.
"Mine."
"They're all wonderful, just find the one you fit best in."
"Any sorority with pink and teddy bears. I love pink and teddy bears."
Aww, that spoils the fun. :)
TKE@UGA 11-14-2006 11:59 AM
Tau Kappa Epsilon, #1 Frat
World's Largest Social Fraternity!
Ronald Reagan, Terry Bradshaw, Conrad Hilton, Willie Nelson, Ron Jeremy,
Elvis Presley...Just a few famous TKE's.
Born on a mountain top, raised by a bear.
Double set of teeth and a Triple coat of hair.
[inappropriate]
I'm a Teke by God!
Teke number 1, Teke number 1, Teke number 1!
As you can see, there is a clear cut answer...TKE.
And for sorority, depends on if you're in north or south.
Drolefille 11-14-2006 12:01 PM
I think the answer will to that question will always be "Mine" no matter who answers it ;)
Wolfman 11-14-2006 12:46 PM
Not to take away from the levity in this thread, I do think a couple of things are in order. Evaluating a fraternity/women's fraternity/sorority is analagous to a mate selection in some ways. We can impressed by outward beauty,sexiness,wealth,station, prominence,etc. at first only to find out that the person's "not all that" as a human being. And vice versa, even though,theoretically,they aren't mutually exclusive. Everyone has "issues." What can you deal with and still grow healthily as a better person in that relationship. Similar dynamics hold forth in each of us talking about the "best Fraternity/sorority." It's more than what's being said at a smoker,informational, rush event or on a website.It's about honestly looking at the good, the bad, and the grotesque (not just ugly) in your group and still coming away with the positive inspiration to be and do better.
