Amazing Race 10

.

KDAngel 09-16-2006 09:34 AM

I'll be watching tomorrow :D

jitterbug13 09-16-2006 12:56 PM

I will be rooting for the cheerleaders because they are from my alma mater! GO COCKS!!!! :D

kansas13 09-17-2006 11:24 AM

I will be watching tomorrow too!! I am interested in the father/daughter team. After being estranged from each because of the daughters sexual preferences, it should be interesting to see how they work together on the trip.

WhiteDaisy128 09-17-2006 08:03 PM

I'm rooting for Peter and Sarah...after finishing my first triathlon in August, anyone couple that can do the Iron Man Hawaii will win this for sure!

xo_kathy 09-17-2006 10:26 PM

From the pictures, the cheerleaders seem to have the exact same nose! And it's a really distinctive one. Sorta weird...

RedAngel 09-17-2006 11:43 PM

I am so upset!
I dozed off and missed the show-----was there anybody eliminated?

jitterbug13 09-17-2006 11:55 PM

I know the Mulsum friends were eleminated...but can someone else tell me who was the other team who was Philimated?

Two teams - Muslim and India.

queequek 09-18-2006 12:15 AM

I can't believe the Muslim fathers team is gone - NOT even at a pit stop. That sucks.

I received a phone call while Sarah was struggling with the wall. What place did they end up coming in?

Same plastic surgeon?

Sistermadly 09-18-2006 09:45 AM

I've missed TAR, but I was disappointed that they kicked the season off with a disgusting food challenge. *sigh*

It just cheapens the show. I probably won't watch - I'll just keep up through recaps.

Third.

Really? I don't think it cheapens the show at all to have the contestants eat the food of the culture. This ain't Fear Factor, where it's gross for the sake of gross. As Phil said, it may sound distasteful to Americans, but it is a very common food in China. That's part of what makes this show so good -- learning about other cultures and seeing that, in some cases, "disgusting" is nothing more than cultural preference. Maybe some time they can have the contestants eat mountain oysters or scrapple.

And was it one of the cheerleaders or one of the Miss Americas who commented that the eyeballs really weren't too bad.

While I've never done the Ironman Hawaii, I know that it's one tough competition that a lot of people train for years and years for...and it's not easy feat.

My favorites so far are the ex-drug addicts (just for the eyecandy) and Duke and Lauren (dad/gay daughter).

I'm sorry, the USC cheerleaders are already driving me insane. "It's time for the perfect cheer!!!"

Cultural preferences aside, when I have to look at people eating their own vomit because the "foods of the culture" make them regurgitate into their plates for the sake of finishing a challenge, it's disgusting, it's a cheap ploy, and I could really do without seeing it for the rest of my life.

One of the 'Bama girls had a little bit of... something... (bile? drool? vomit?) dribble out of her mouth while she was finishing. It was nasty, nasty, NASTY. If I wanted to see that, I'd watch Fear Factor.

Any word on the Greek affiliation of the cheerleaders, or anyone else?

(I imagine that USC alumni in general are not too proud that they didn't know whether Muslims worship Buddha  )

blueangel 09-18-2006 09:21 PM

I agree.. I can do without the food challenges too. I don't know why they continue them as it repulses so many viewers. I left the room during the fish eye eating challenge.

I threw a pillow at my television after they said that.

I don't know. One of them has already graduated and the other is still there. I know at least one of them is a PR major.

And it's a good thing I missed the quote about Muslims and Buddha.

kansas13 09-18-2006 11:43 PM

I to don't like the food challenges, but I still watch. The fact of the matter is that when these people sign up for this they know they are going to be doing that. Plus it's the same thing with the viewers, you don't have to watch that part of the show if you don't like it. I like to pause my DVR during TAR. That way I can fast forward through commercials and if I don't like watching the food challenges I can fast forward through that too!!

CutiePie2000 09-19-2006 12:44 AM

My bets are still on the more athletic teams:
1) Peter & Sarah - the triathletes
2) Tyler & James - the druggie models
3) Duke & Lauren - Dad and Daughter (that was so heartbreaking when he cried about that he was "disappointed".)

3a) Erwin & Godwin - the 2 brothers who are pretty athletic looking, but what surprises me is that they went to very prestigious school and should be, therefore, "smart", but they seem to make "dumb" mistakes and are maybe not that "street-smart", IMO.

Rob and Kimberly remind me a bit of some previous feuding couples, but they are nowhere near Jonathon and Victoria. Remember him? What a beast!

But the point is.. why do the producers insist on continuing the food challenges when the viewers don't like them?

If it was what I thought it was when I was watching, it just appeared to be some slime of some sort from the fish. Reminded me of stewed okra.

Perhaps its because only some of the viewers don't like them. I refuse to watch Fear Factor, where the food challenges are much grosser, but the food challenges in TAR rarely bother me. (I did think it was over the top when teams needed barf buckets nearby with one challenge, but I was surprised with the fish eyes that so few of the contestants seemed phased. Almost without exception, the non-eating teammate was having a harder time than the one actually eating.)

If you don't like the food challenges, at least be glad it seems to be out of the way for this season. ;)

KDAngel 09-20-2006 06:47 AM

Loved the father-daughter combo from when you saw the dad cry to when you saw the daughter cry as he was going over the wall.

Love the KY couple-- too cute.

Love the beauty queens too! :)

I think there's a huge difference between "eat a reasonable portion of this local delicacy that many Americans would find disgusting" (fish eyes; fried grasshoppers) and "eat a gigantic portion of this food that's ten times bigger than a local person would ever eat so that you're forced to boot and rally" (four pounds of grilled meat; giant mixing bowl of spicy Hungarian soup).

I like the first; I hate the second. Experimenting with new foods that are outside your comfort zone is a major part of international travel. Any good travel/cultural show should include this. Stuffing people until they puke is not part of any culture they've visited.

By the way, speaking as someone who's eaten fish eyes, yes, that slime is just par for the course.

This is will definitely agree with.

Maybe to give the "less athletic" teams a better chance or make it more of an even playing field? Generally speaking, TAR does favor athleticism (although you have to be *SMART* too [thinking of that last challenge that was a geography challenge on the Family Edition of TAR]).
Anyhow, you don't have to be athletic to be able to eat gross stuff...you just have to be able to conquer your revulsion reflex.

I am totally rooting for the Father/Daughter team!! From not speaking to each other for several months to doing TAR together and then getting second place on the first pit stop...that is pretty good in my book. I really didn't think the AL mom's were going to make it on that climb of the great wall. It was a good thing that they were so far ahead of everyone or they might have been last.

jitterbug13 09-25-2006 01:23 PM

The cheerleaders have been Philimated. :(

Who came in first, second, third? I walked away to get dinner.

Between the cheerleaders and Christian from ANTM, Columbia residents on reality shows are not doing too good. :( But I can see why people didn't like the cheerleaders.

I'm with you. I like Sarah, but I find myself torn on that team. I want her to do well, but I want him to lose. Soon.

I thought it was interesting when she said that she was learning things about Peter and that not everything she is learning impresses her.

Meanwhile, I love Team Kentucky. I'd be amazed if they get too close to the final three, but for a couple that has traveled very little and has had, shall we say, limited life experiences, I really respect how they are staying open to new experiences.

How come Godwin and Edwin aren't doing better. I can't really tell if they are having bad luck or are making dumb mistakes, or both, but they seem like a team that ought to be doing better.

KunjaPrincess 09-25-2006 06:37 PM

GRRR. I missed it. :-( I hate when shows I like are on on weekends, I forget about them then miss them.

I was totally thinking the same thing!! They seem so much more open minded then I thought they would be. I thought it was funny though on the first episode how she stated that where they come from the man is the decision maker, but then she is yelling at him every ten minutes to do something different then what he wants to and he does it. :p

Yee haw

Don't forget it ya'll, it's on tonight!

Unregistered- 10-03-2006 08:30 PM

How :( that Duke/Lauren were Philiminated...I really hoped that they were going to make a come back.

With each episode Tom/Terry annoy me even more. I really hoped that they were going to be eliminated because of their penalty. What dumbasses...you don't ride motorbikes in Vietnam if you value your life!

Go Team CHO!!!
